  1. I am and will always be a fan of Ares Gear: https://www.aresgear.com/ Their Aegis Enhanced is what I've used for several years now and the Ranger for several years before that. Doesn't look "traditional", but performs very well.

  2. You can have a gun in your car in Illinois with a Tennessee HCP; you can’t without it. My WAG is that Illinois will not recognize the new permit even for that; but we have no way of knowing that yet.

  6. I went ahead and traded a pistol in today on a Sig 365, just could not resist. Got a extra 15 round mag and a holster for it. This pistol is the only pocket style pistol I can handle comfortably. The Glock 48 is not really a pocket pistol in my mind, good feeling but bigger in the grip than the Sig.

  8. Church security is a hot topic these days with all the crazy incidents. Security of all the church members and visitors are a must. Short list below. 1. All persons taking care of nursery or kids need to be vetted, you may not know if you have pedophiles, but do you know you don't?? 2. The team needs to be trained to handle the situation with the least amount of force, ie. don't shoot a guy that can be escorted outside and the cops called. But if shooting him is the only course of action do it. 3.Sometimes things like fire extinguishers, first aid kits, AED are overlooked. 4. Computer security. 5. Cameras at every entrance and as many areas like parking lots as possible, with multiple monitors and multiple people viewing them. 6. Everyone needs to take the security of their church seriously. 7. As many people watching as possible, my son's church also has 1 or 2 guys in their trucks in the parking lot keeping an eye on the entrances. The guys in the trucks have rifles just in case. You know a van with 4 people could roll up and do a lot of damage real quick. FYI we just joined a church last month and 1 of the reasons was their security team, I am getting older and it is comforting to know that somebody is watching out while we are in our services. Hope everyone helps to make their church safe.

  13. Doug, glad to hear you're getting settled in in a nice home. As for the fiber optics, it takes a while. Finally got it out my way a few months ago, took about a couple of yrs. after I signed up to get it installed. Worth the wait, Verizon wireless sucks. The local electric utility co. got a grant to out it in Trousdale Co. Good luck buddy........

  16. Its been around 5 years and really hasn’t taken off. Its basically a rimless .460 S&W Magnum. It was touted as a big bore hunting round. It looks to me like it would be a hard hitting hog round, but it wouldn’t have the range of a .308. It would be expensive to build and shoot (unless you reload). Other than the cool factor; I don’t see what you are getting for your money.

  17. It's right up there with a metal shop being able to produce something like a Sten... the hysteria about it is disproportionate to the actual risk because of the media. That being said, the technology is getting less and less expensive and I look forward to the day where you might have a Metal Sintering printer in your garage alongside your belt sander and drill press... it would be incredibly useful for creative inventors who couldn't otherwise turn their dreams into reality. For example, before the FLIR Breach was released, I designed a monocular for a FLIR Boson core so I could use it at the fire station for search and rescue calls. The FLIR core could be removed and then mounted on a drone A more practical use of current generation 3d printers wouldn't be to create the firearm itself, but a blank that could be used in a mold (there are lost PLA techniques similar to lost wax techniques).

  18. @bersaguy Glad to hear that adventure is over. Maybe you should get one of those parlor gallery guns and shoot in the living room. Lol

  19. I don’t have a dog in this fight, but it appears to me if the NRA is going to survive; LaPierre, Ackerman-McQueen marketing, and William Brewer's Law Firm need to all be gone and they need to be gone today.
