Well it's finally done. I finally got moved to my new home. I now live in Gordonsville Tennessee and back in the country again after 20 years of city life. I forgot what it was like to need something from the store living in the country. It's not a 10 minute trip to grab a few things anymore. The nearest stores are about 12 to 15 miles away. So now I need to get back in the habit of when I go to the store I need to stock up instead of just grabbing a few things. I also am now living in a house I could have put my last house in the living room of. It's a journey just to make it to the coffee pot first thing in the morning!! The kitchen is also huge. Master bedroom is as big as both of the bedrooms in the old house. I have put all of my furniture in the rooms and they still look empty. Getting TV reception is an adventure also. I'm shopping a new antenna this coming week. Need something with more than a 50 mile range on it. Tommy said they are bringing Fiber-Optics lines down this road in about 2 months and I am sure hoping Spectrum is one of the servers on it. If it is I will be getting TV and Internet as son as they can hook me up. Tommy (SIL) says he just wants internet cause they don't watch enough TV to get it. Another thing is I have not got a good nights sleep since I have been here. Not use to it being so quiet at night. Oh well just wanted to bring folks up to date on whats going on in my life..................9 points

I saw this on the way to the Mennonite store this morning and thought I'd share.4 points

I love California. It’s a beautiful state with pretty much every type of terrain all within just a few hours of you, wherever you are in the state. It’s the voters that are the problem.3 points

What caliber are you interested in? I have a bil with some Colt Commeratives he says he wants to sell. I actually like the Ruger option. Have a New Vaquero in 45acp. It's a hoot!2 points

As much as we joke about earthquakes hitting California and it sliding off into the Pacific, I would be happy if they never suffered another one. Every time there’s an earthquake in California someone decides to move East. I don’t want them to move East, I want them to stay right where they are.2 points

Thought I would put up a link to my TubeofYou video regarding the 5D Tactical Router Jig Multiplatform for finishing 80% AR lowers. Hope you enjoy. It took me far more time and effort to produce the video than finish all the lowers, lol. It did net me a custom 50% off code for their store (Up to $125 value) which I used for a couple more ReadyMills and some more lowers2 points

I’d be very careful about attempting to monetize letting others use use one’s equipment to finish out their 80% receivers. That very behavior was part of the problems Ares Armor had with the ATF a few years back. IIRC the way it ended up shaking out is that the ATF considered that being in the business of manufacturing. As far as they were concerned, it didn’t matter if you didn’t operate the equipment, if you owned it, you manufactured it.2 points

If you are not a dealer, it's not likely a dealer will send you a copy of their FFL. You'll have to send a copy of your TN DL with the gun so the dealer can log it in.1 point

Lets not forget the jumbo frog legs. I loved riding the 94, yes a dangerous road, but fun on the motorcycle. In the late 80's it was on a Yamaha Virago, in the 90's on an Ironhead Sporty and in the 00's on a Springer Softail.1 point

Quite a few companies, Cimmeron, Navy Arms, Taylors and a few I can't remember are just Ubertis made to the seller's specifications. And those specs are usually just the quality of the finish. I used to have a Hombre model which is Uberti's cheapest. Just as good as any of the higher priced models, but with a very plain matte black finish. You can generally find these for right around $400. For just a range toy, this would be a good start. Ruger makes excellent single actions, but they aren't quite the real cowboy gun.1 point

FROM LOADOUT ROOM REVIEW: "Those who have experience with Tisas guns know that they have excellent build quality and can often be found for a very reasonable price. Imported as the Regent SP1 we’ll first be looking at what Tisas calls the Zigana FC" http://gregcotellc.com/cart/zenith-girsan-tisas-c-205/zenith-tisas-zigana-kc-fc-sport-9mm-15-rd-zigana-800-zig915-p-1998.html1 point

@buck1032 Awesome! I do miss the occasional ride out old 94 to the cafe all you can eat fish fry. Salad drowning in house dressing, beans that are so so, rice pilaf stuff that was edible, and of course the fish. I did most of my growing up out in those mountains. Still have my first pellet gun that took many rabbits and squirrels in those hills. It's a miracle I was never a vehicular casualty out on 94 with as much as I've traveled it. Thanks for chiming in. Brought a smile to my face, literally.1 point

I lived in South San Diego for 12 years then moved up to Temecula. I have ridden through and around Jamul many times. Stopped at the Delzura Café for the fish fry as often as I could. :)1 point

Cannot disagree. From my old home I could go riding in the desert, skiing or hit beach. All a day trip away. I left not because of the quakes, but political enviro getting ever worse... my district was split and votes negated (gerrymander). But the nail in the coffin was when water wells in my valley started drying up, including mine. I had near by neighbors have to re drill and go more than 1000ft! As soon as that issue hit me, I was looking at a map.1 point

As a range toy, I'd go with the Uberti. I don't know about Taylor but from what I understand is that a Cimarron is just a Uberti with a Cimarron roll stamp ( kind of like buying a black powder revolver from Cabelas and having their name on it). The Ruger may or may not have it's own problem depending on your requirements. They are known for having tight, or not uniform cylinder throats which may cause accuracy problems. I'm not that picky and am quite satisfied with my factory Vaquero and Blackhawk.1 point

And to be very clear, I'm not offering any of my tools, fixtures or receiver(s) (finished or not) for use, rent or sale. Above convo with DaveTN was merely hypothetical. Advice on getting a smooth FCG pocket finish is free.1 point

Thunderstorm rolling thru screwing up my posting, lol. Maybe I get this one through. The important part (IMHO) on the Ares ruling was the fact that they controlled the premise where that manufacturing was occurring. No where in any law, ruling or clarification paper from ATF has it said you must also own the tools. And truly, AR's are not the business to be in right now if you want to flip, unless you buy low, sit until a Dem is in the White House then sell high.1 point

I wasn’t trying to imply you were. I see it like reloading; some people just want to do it regardless of the cost. Nothing wrong with that. I’m pretty sure that anyone that does their research and buys one of those knows they will probably end up in the Federal Home For Wayward Souls if they start selling them. However, AR’s are dirt cheap from the big boys right now, and there are a million garage builds available from Bubba for those that don’t like paperwork. Not really an attractive business right now.1 point

I'm certainly not trying to monetize it, and would not recommend anyone try to. No way. I won't provide an unfinished lower, I don't do any of the machining for anyone, and I don't charge. That's a business. Ares in National City is where I physically waked in and purchased my first 80% lowers.1 point

Hence my comment "I don’t think that would be illegal; but you never know." They do whatever they want.1 point

Nice, a bit pricey, but you do get good guilty stuff. I know that doing this to make money just might get you a visit from the 3 letter guys. Wonder if you were to rent the jig out would that get you a visit?1 point

I didn’t see this thread when I posted in your other one, so I'll just add this here. Not only a good review on the kit, but a very good quality video.1 point

I don’t reload, so I had no idea what you were trying to accomplish. I did however like your Freedom kit review. Not only a good review on the kit, but a very good quality video.1 point

OK. But if I bought one of those they would outlaw 80% lowers tomorrow. I’m a Toolmaker by trade (Retired). I always said if I could retire and sit around in my underwear drinking coffee and making stuff; that would be great. Not quite there; I now sit around in my underwear drinking coffee and programming parts for other people (part time).0 points

I went out to Burger Republic with an older friend recently. I watched him as he read the beer menu with a sort of puzzled look on his face for two or three minutes. Finally, he put it down - utterly confused - and offered, “they’ve got 75 beers on this damn menu, but no bud light, coors lite, or anything I’ve ever heard of. But, they’ve got PBR in a can? I just don’t get it.”0 points
