I vary quite a bit on the finish from batch to batch. And some of the old sawmill steel takes the finish differently than others. The current batch of blades I'm working on are noticeably lighter than some of the previous ones. I just kinda go with what I have to work with and try to make that particular piece look as best as I feel it can.3 points

I took the bow out today for the first time (its been far too hot) This pic is of the my first 6 I ever shot. Well, when I say never, I shot about 10 arrows when looking at bows. But in total this was my first 12 on my own. The distance was 20 yards. If i did better or worse than should be expected please let me know because I'd like to gauge where I am vs other new folks to the sport. I was managing to pull back much easier as I had watched a few videos and things started to make sense. I do have a question one of the arrow heads got stuck inside the target, I had to cut the target slightly to get it out and what had happened is the sheath (i don't know what this part is called. So i'm calling it a sheath) inside the arrow that the head was screwed to seemed to have not been glued. Maybe an oversight at the bow store as I did not see any of the black residue I see him put on some of the other arrow sheaths. Can you advise if there is a specific type of glue I need to order so I can fix it back up inside the arrow? Other than that, I really enjoyed myself and cant wait to get out again!2 points

What a shame. Best I can tell he got about 3 years. He was a family man that had a helicopter repair business; I assume he lost. I don’t doubt he intentionally violated the law and got caught. But dang man, there are violent offenders that don’t do time on their first conviction. No one was hurt or put in danger by what he did. We have criminal hugging politicians running all over the place yelling for “Second Chances” for career criminals and dragging offenders to the White House for press conferences while guys like this sit in prison....its ridiculous.2 points

Greetings! I'm new to the forum and new to the State of Tennessee, a resident here as of early last year. Not new to guns, shooting, reloading. Moved here from Washington State about a year ago with my wife of 44 years. Shoulda done this a long time ago! Other than guns and shooting, hobbies include gardening, fixing up our new to us place (which is closer to a career now) and riding motorcycles/travelling. Proud to be here among y'all! We've acquired our concealed pistol licenses but have only shot informally one time, in Catoosa WMA. I miss trap shooting and may join the gun club at Fairfield Glade, once the home front projects slow down some. Glad I found this list! Have a great day!! Rok1 point

A jury found decorated Navy SEAL Edward "Eddie" Gallagher not guilty Tuesday on almost all charges he was facing, including murder and attempted murder, in the killing of a teenage Islamic State member in Iraq. Jurors did find him guilty of the seventh charge, posing for a photo with a casualty, considered the least egregious of the crimes, which carries a maximum prison sentence of four months. "We have a sentencing to do, but the maximum sentence of what they’re about to sentence him on is much less than the time that they’ve already had him in the brig," defense attorney Tim Parlatore said after Tuesday's verdict. "So he is going home." https://www.foxnews.com/us/navy-seal-edward-gallagher-found-not-guilty-on-murder-and-attempted-murder-charges1 point

Yep....makes no sense but he was likely viewed as low hanging fruit and an easy conviction to pad statistics by the prosecutor. And no one in Hollywood is going to be an activist to get a middle aged white guy who is a useful member of society who just happens to have possession of some threaded metal pipes out of jail.1 point

Welcome to the forum @rok. Like @I40Bandit mentioned. Pics of the garden and input and suggestions are welcomed. As now that Bandit mentioned it...mowing does seem to be a State mandated pastime!1 point

Welcome. Would love to see garden pics in the Garden thread. Oh, and your hobbies are now mowing, mowing, shooting and reloading when it's too hot to mow, and mowing some more. Pretty sure mowing is the state past time.1 point

Liquor in the front, poker in the rear (?) Couple things about the color... My blade wasn't as dark to begin with as some of the others. I sat it at an angle to make the light reflect off the surface so the pattern in the Damascus and the primary bevel would pop more in the photo. And I've used it a fair bit so the black oxide is wearing off a little, which is normal. The darkness of black oxide can vary significantly.1 point

These same politicians will never be honest enough to tell anyone that in Europe it is much easier to get a silencer/suppressor than it is in the US. Even in the UK where it is somewhat difficult to purchase a firearm you can easily purchase a suppressor. So much so that a Murfreesboro man named Paul Gratton bought SIX of them while on a trip to the UK and brought them home. Of course he also got convicted and went to jail for possession of unregistered suppressors......but the point is that he was able to purchase 6 silencers at retail in Great Britain while on vacation. That douchebag Menendez (who is as crooked as a dog's hind leg and just missed going to jail for bribery last year when a mistrial was declared in his case ) will never admit that there are over a million NFA registered suppressors in the hands of law abiding folks and that NFA registered suppressors are used less in crimes than steak knives or rocks.....1 point

I do. Have had one for several years and it’s a great optic for the money. They’re always on sale somewhere.1 point

Start a movement for the "protect the hearing of hunting dogs." Unless they're hypocrites, every animal rights activist should be all in. These pups were breed to hunt, are you willing to deny them the right to what is their preferred dog life style? Do you not care about their quality of life being impacted by hearing loss or damage after retirement? Dog have rights too.1 point

When all seems lost, praise God. A series of coincidences stemming from a radio preacher I heard Saturday morning on the way to gun class. Basically, he told me when I am in in those troughs and less guarded against Satan and all of his works, succeptible to the glamour and temptation of sin, or at the very least, bitching about my current lot in life. He shared a story of a preacher who visited a severely physically handicapped girl, who was reported to be a radiant beacon of light. When the preacher met her, he discovered the device used to strap her deformed body to resembled a coffin. He asked her how she was able to be so cheerful, to which she responded, "At night when I wake up, I see the stars are they are my blessings, one is for Mother, one is for Brother, one is for Father...but Pastor, I still have stars but have run out of blessings." Perhaps an illustration of all that is seen and unseen? Those blessings that I am totally aware of? Shared this story when I got home; praise God that I have both feet on the ground, that I have a beautiful and supportive wife, roof over my head, food in the fridge, clothes on my back, decent income and a job, son just got promoted at work, I found an amazing support group on TGO, the peace of knowing Christ and certainty of eternal life Later that evening, my wife received a call from a friend, close but no longer local and infrequent contact. She told my wife what a difference she made and continues to make in her life. I think and discussed with my wife; all those things you did without strings attached, all those years ago, the blessing from the Lord is the knowledge that you did make a difference in someone's life. Praise God!1 point
