This work is by CS Lewis and narrated by John Cleese. Never knew it existed until my most liberal, beyond the Bern, pro life, pro 2A, very angry with God, wayward Christian, sent it to me. I'm still working through it as I can only digest it in small doses. Dear Uncle Screwtape is instructing his nephew Wormwood, in the ways to influence man's nature to distract any thinking or wish to join the enemy, God. It is the second bit off literature (Hill's Outwitting the Devil) that illustrates to me, the common-sense and practical approach Satan uses to exploit human fraility. The bit on church is gold. What does the new (or jaded) Christian see? The body of Christ, or people I tried to avoid all week? The nice thing is, you don't have to even believe in life after to benefit. Believe in being better today than yesterday and do onto others is a great start. Awareness of things that cause you not to think, wasting time on things that make you feel good vs. actually doing good is what builds wisdom, experience, and patience! If you do listen, I will suggest the Wiki page, it gave me a better perspective of novel (over 3 audio hours) and a brief synopsis of what to expect https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Screwtape_Letters3 points

I'm sure my wife is going to kill me but I could not help myself. Two Swedish Mausers (Model 96 and Model 38) and three South American Mausers (Bolivian, Chilean and Argentinaen). All the numbers appear to match. They're all in excellent condition. I also picked up a pre-1964 Winchester Model 70 (serial number points to a 1949 manufacture date). Looking forward to taking these to the range--hopefully next weekend.3 points

Pretty pleased with myself. Not the most conventional way to hunt a Turkey, but I guess you do what you know best! I stalked it for about an hour and a half keeping the wind in my face, then used a tree between me and him before sneaking up Ninja style! I showed myself, it looked at me, I see a beard and boom. Was a pretty crappy shot to be honest, looked like only one BB got him, but right in the brain! The Turkey was 15lbs in weight, beared was 9 inches long! I processed it at home as it was cool enough today to drive back home, kept the spurs, beared and fan and will have those mounted as its my first! Very happy chappy!2 points

I don’t have a dog in this fight, but it appears to me if the NRA is going to survive; LaPierre, Ackerman-McQueen marketing, and William Brewer's Law Firm need to all be gone and they need to be gone today.2 points

I just purchased the Ruger Mark IV Hunter to replace the Ruger Mark IV Target that I sold to my business (so my clients can use my personal awesome competition gun to qualify, if they don't have their own gun). The Hunters' weight is in between the Target and the Competition. I felt I liked the balance of the Hunter better than the front heavy Competition so I went with the Hunter for my new competition gun. Here are my initial findings. Very pleased overall. It came with 2 mags, slab grips, TruGlo fiber optic front sight, V rear sight. As new, it felt very tight and a little gritty, so I cleaned and lubed thoroughly before shooting it the first time. It felt a lot better after that! In two short range sessions, I tested 5 types of .22lr ammo, at least 2 magazines of each. I used both the two new magazines and several older magazines I used for competition with my Mark IV Target. I did not mix ammo in individual magazines. All ammo and magazines tested ran flawlessly! Remington Thunderbolt, Aguila Supermaximum Hyper Velocity, Winchester Wildcat, CCI Stinger, American Eagle 38 grain. I realize these are some hot loads, they were what I had around the house. I have more more brands to try at my next range session, a little less hot. The front sight came loose near the end, and I did not have a proper wrench with me so I ended the session. This seems to be common with these particular front sights on the new guns from the factory. They need to be checked and tightened. I am not sure about the V rear sight. I need more range time with it. I felt like I was shooting better with my Target square rear sight, so I might have to switch them if I don't start taking to the V sight soon. I hope you enjoyed my review! I am in the process of building out my website blog to include more reviews and information like this in the near future. https://akvat.com1 point

Update: HughD, if you look at that link that you posted from Midwest gun works, part number 6 is what I was inquiring about. That o-ring was going to cost me about $18 shipped. Not wanting to put that kind of money into a free gun that I really have not figured out what I'm going to use for, I made a gasket out of three layers of duct tape. It's working great now!1 point

I live in Gallatin just about 25 miles northeast of Nashville and when I moved here 20 years ago there were still a lot of big farms operating here. Now all those big farms are housing subdivisions, strip Malls and Apartment complexes and Nsshville has about reached here. I will be moving in mid June and going out about 50 miles farther out away from Gallatin. Going east to Gordonsville and moving into Father in Law house behind my daughter and son in laws house. He has about 5.5 acres and has a small range set up behind my future house so I can do more shooting. There is a great berm behind the house where he built the pistol range. He has been shooting quite a bit and no complaints at all from neighbors. I was dreading the move in the beginning but looking forward to it now. Ready to get out of this rat race that has developed since I moved here.1 point

NOW THAT'S MUSIC!!! lol David Clayton-Thomas was on fire there! Back in my wastrel college days, I had the pleasure of seeing/hearing them live. A tremendous show. My frat back then, ALPHA KAPPA PSI, had the honor/duty to promote and sell tickets on campus and in the city. That got us primo seats in return for all the "blood, sweat, and tears" we put into it. lol I/we sat about 50 feet left of stage and that tower of speakers. I don't think I could hear for days afterwards. It was worth it! Fantastic Show!!1 point

I always like to recommend Tower of Power. Their horn line is amazing. Speaking of which, BST, Go down Gamblin', most incredible tuba solo in the history of rock music, ever. Turn up your volume1 point

Sweet pistol. I've owned several of the Mark II, III, IV over the years and found them to be an excellent pistol. Never had the Hunter version though. Thanks for the commentary.1 point

Now that they "did something" I expect they'll be resting on their laurels with regards to gun rights for a bit.1 point

I'm not a fan of this bill. We got absolutely nothing out of it and if what OS said was true, that two states have already dropped us from reciprocity, then we went backwards! One of the reasons I got a HCP was to be able to carry when outside the state on vacation. Also I think some sort of minimal training is necessary. Merely showing "competency" in my book is not enough!1 point

Funny how two states dropped us as soon as the 18 year old exception was added, even though the training stayed the same. Point being, there is no guarantee how other states will see this ... they might well simply lump all TN permits together as far as their decisions -- which might be to not honor them due to lack of training. I can understand how a state wouldn't want to put up with their LE having to distinguish between two types of permits on the spot, eh? Again, Nashville excels at doing badly what need not be done at all. - OS1 point

Because complicating things is what the TN legislature does when it comes to permits.1 point

If you are only going to have one 1911, then get one with the prancing pony on the slide. I bought a Colt 1911 about ten years ago for less than $700. The first few magazines had some failures to eject but the next 1000 or so rounds have been flawless. NOTE: I am in no way an expert on 1911s. I only own one and I wanted a Colt.1 point

Another vote for the Springfield Range Officer. The absolute best bang for the buck that meets your criteria. First 1911 should Must be a .45acp. Anything less is depriving yourself of the true 1911 experience.1 point

I moved away from Maryville back to middle Tennessee in 2015. I haven't been back since, but I could see that it was starting to get that way. The difference in middle and east Tennessee is that I'm 40 miles out from town now. And although I'm in a rural area, it's quickly growing. It will be a long time before anyone is desperate enough to develop mountainous areas like they have developed what idea to be farm land here. As much as I hate the thought of a state income tax, had we put it in like they attempted back in 2000, we likely wouldn't be having these problems.0 points
