  1. Wow! I really enjoyed that place. Nice people. I took a couple of classes there, and my kids attended the kids safety and introductory classes there years ago. I won’t say the name, but Tom Givens old place is run by the most unprofessional owner of any business I’ve encountered. It’s 15 minutes from my home, and I’d have to be held hostage in order to patronize that place again. I guess I’ll have to check Shoot Point Blank. From the commercials I’ve seen SPB seems to be ultramodern and clean. They also charge by the half hour. One thing I’ll miss about RUSA is that on slow days you could pay your one hour range fee and shoot as long as you wanted until they needed the lane. The fast food bar wasn’t bad either. Also I had an issue with a transfer that was taken care of by the owner along with a return of fees and a personal apology. They will be missed.

  3. The PCC is far more reliable out of the box than most 9mm ARs, especially the parts / budget versions. I remember reaming about 7 or 8 short-chambered barrels for owners of PSA AR-9s after the owners saw crumpled loaded cartridges coming out of the chamber. Then there's the issue of finding a buffer system that you can live with that won't beat your trigger to death. One fellow I shoot with has been through about 3 broken Hiperfire triggers with his AR-9. The PCC can also handle very light 9mm loads, which is useful if you're doing steel matches with it. I got down to about 2.4 grains of Titegroup behind a 115 gr bullet before it wouldn't cycle reliably. It isn't often I get really enthused about a new rifle but Ruger did so many things right with this gun that I am a huge fan of them. Now the Mini-14 is still an expensive, inaccurate turd when you put it against a $400 AR.

  7. Last one I did was real similar, and shot sub MOA. Cheap barrels are a crap shoot. This one is a midlength .223 Wylde. Should shoot OK. Fixing to lap the upper.

  8. Sure, but he’s about to become the poster child for inaction in Tennessee. Judging from the number of arrests I would guess first responders did their job. I would also make the guess that based on his previous record he was barred from firearm possession and could not pass a background check. So no red flag laws or laws other than those already in place would have been required to stop him. Apparently people were calling for help, but the system did not work for them. Some folks paid for that with their life. I would not be surprised if it was the same family members that asked for help before.

  9. I used to carry a Dan Wesson Cbob in 45 all the time....it wasn't too bad as long as you get the right holster...just don't go cheap there...but do hunt a used one..ppl ditch them for a fraction of new price all the time.....that being said I prefer a lighter weight firearm...currently im a USP 45 "compact" winter carry and a Sig P365 Summer carry.

  10. I have a 442 with a blued barrel and cylinder and I would rather have a cheesy coat of paint, honestly. It's a fair amount of work to keep rust off the blued parts on the 442 when I carry it.

  11. This makes me sad. I always enjoyed RUSA. I patronized both locations and was always treated well. I wish them well and hope everyone lands on their feet.

  13. I like plain ole Knob Creek. In fact, I am a fan of anything that comes out of that distillery, including the blue collar stuff.

  15. Not what you asked for but the two free lights with coupon at Harbor Freight are great lights in a pinch. They have redesigned both of them and are pretty darn bright.

  16. Whether its right or wrong; she may have said it. I thought the movie was good although I have no idea how accurate it was. I could kill a person that was a threat and go have lunch. However, because of my beliefs I could never have any part in an execution of a person that was in custody. “Carrying out your duty” doesn’t absolve you from responsibility for your actions.

  17. I suspect that some transparency would be bad for all of the parties involved. All of them. Regardless, I suspect it’s about to get way uglier.

  21. I think the days of blued lower end firearms are over. You will may still see it upper end firearms, but even then, not so much. Stainless steel in those seems to be the go to. To me though, wood and blue are much more appealing to the eye.
