I went out looking for a cheap but reliable gun for my mother that would be reliable and such for a home defense gun for the house. I was looking for the Ruger P-Series and revolvers and such. Then I pulled in to my favorite gun shop. They usually only carry 7-10 used guns. I found a Glock 17 Gen 3 in awesome shape for an awesome price ! After detail stripping it , it seemed like new. Hardly any "smilies"on the top of the barrel. Plus it has 2 regular mags plus a factory Glock 33 rd mag. I am a happy camper ! $328 for it all . The Gen 3 guns are so great. Seeing how others are buying cheaper quality guns , I figured I couldn't go wrong with a good ole G17 . I think I'll keep the 33 rd mag for myself . Mom don't need that .5 points

The enemy we know rather than one we don't. Change in the NRA is a definite need. Scrapping it totally would be a disaster for us and the country. jmo5 points

I think it might be a good thing if everyone that is an NRA member also become a member of the GOA also..........JMHO3 points

I think any corruption should be dealt with swiftly by the board. Now, with that said, trying to GUESS the cost to do the PR for an organization like the NRA is a waste of time. Screaming thru the noise at the national level is a huge and expensive deal. I read the article a few days ago, BTW. My bet is that if we try this without the NRA, we're gonna wind up losing the second amendment, or having to start shooting to keep it. No shock really that some rats probably need killin'.3 points

Just shows how much money and power is at stake in my mind. This is a mud fight that's going far beyond hubris making someone stay on the train despite it being at their stop.2 points

Whelp, here’s the functional, but not quite complete build. It’s got a Franklin Armory binary trigger on the way for it and I might swap that Holosun for an Eotech I have on a different gun.2 points

OK, maybe I should have been more specific. I don’t think anybody with any ideas of substance is calling for getting rid of the NRA.2 points

Scripture discussion aside, I believe you completely missed what was actually happening in that scene. At the beginning of the film Gault is a man without purpose. He has no job and no direction. He’s bereft of his identity as a Texas Ranger. While Gault was good at his job, and it defined who he was, deep down he wasn’t a killer like Hammer. Killing never sat easy with him nd all the killing he did in the job ate away at his soul. The grandson is a stand-in for Gault’s conscience. He serves to tell the audience what is eating away at Gault. It’s the reason why he drinks, and it’s the reason why Hammer turned around and left. He could see the toll it takes on his friend. Still, for all of the pain it causes him, it is who he is and he must join Hammer on this journey. Then you are supposed to take the grizzled, damaged veteran Ranger potrayed by Harrelson and contrast him against the young naive FBI agent who has never shot anybody before. In many ways, he is Gault as a young man st the beginning of the journey that leads to the troubled man we see on screen. I don’t know if this movie got a theatrical release in order to qualify for Oscar contention, but Harrelson‘s performance is absolutely worthy of a statue. Kevin Costner may have been the lead, and he definitely gave an exceptionally fine performance, but this was Woodys movie.2 points

Ruger American Predator in 358 Winchester. Picked this up off of the auction site. Supposed to be a special run? I have a new Redfield 2-7 4 plex for it. I will add some good pictures when I get it set up.1 point

I'd do it in a heartbeat. These guys actually did it: https://huntforever.org/2013/03/18/the-mighty-4-bore/1 point

I suspect that some transparency would be bad for all of the parties involved. All of them. Regardless, I suspect it’s about to get way uglier.1 point

It’s crazy that they’re airing their political grudge match in open at the convention: https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.wsj.com/amp/articles/nras-wayne-lapierre-says-he-is-being-extorted-pressured-to-resign-11556314763 They don’t even need to anti-gun crowd to run it into the ground.1 point

that is a great price for that setup. I paid about that for my complete Gen 3 G17 slide, so you got a deal.1 point

It did. It got a limited release, about two weeks as I recall, in a few major markets. The part about Gault being unemployed and living with his daughter is one of the fairly few places where the movie varies from fact. Gault worked for the Highway Patrol after he and Hamer left the Texas Rangers, and he was still doing that when Hamer convinced him to join the trackdown of Bonnie and Clyde.1 point

I agree with using a musket for home defense. A .75cal lead ball makes a heck of a mess! The foot long flame will burn off their facial hair and set clothes on fire at close range. Then think of the terror effect when they see my pissed-off naked self charging out of the smoke cloud behind six feet of bayonet tipped musket!!! Hiding behind a wall or closed door won't protect you from an 18" bayonet blade!1 point

+1 for Olight. I have them everywhere, I love the magnetic tail cap. They have some good deals on their website every so often.1 point

I don’t think that anybody is saying to scrap the NRA, not even if harshest critics like Jeff Knox. But the corruption needs to be rooted out before it causes irreparable damage to the organization.1 point

They called me yesterday and I didn't answer. Called today from a different number and when I answered the lady said she was paid to call me and that Ollie North had asked her to call me....and that's when I said, "listen, I am a life member and the NRA leadership needs to go after hanging us out on bump stocks. have a nice day. click." I saw an article yesterday that the NRA spent $40 MILLION last year with their PR firm. Can you imagine how how many good laws we could pass at the state level and how many lawsuits could be filed for that much money? Not to mention that ole' Wayne makes over $1 million a year. The libs claim that the NRA is just a wing of the gun lobby, but in reality it's just a money making scam for the officers.1 point

The NRA is incorporated in the state of NY so Cuomo can cause them all kinds of problems. This was posted in another thread today and it seriously concerns me about that organization. It’s worth the read. https://www.ammoland.com/2019/04/nras-dirty-laundry-exposed-as-pro-gun-group-cleans-house/#axzz5m9Mp8dA91 point

I wasn’t really onboard with this until I saw the words “cannon” and “grapeshot.” I may have to re-evaluate my HD plan.1 point

I'm new. Thought I would throw my two cents in. I've had a solo for about three years. I had a problem with it at first with a few jams. I called Kimber and I talked to him and I found out from them that I needed a fire at least 250 to 300 rounds through the gun. After doing that it has done a wonderful job. So as a striker fire I love it. So the new Striker fire Evo you should be a fine gun as well. I just put one in layaway yesterday and I'm excited about getting the chance to shoot it. Looking forward to reading some of the articles on this site. If I had one place in this country I would want to move it would be Tennessee.1 point

This gun was absolutely devastating... to the shooter. If he shot from the saddle it unhorsed him every time. In his own words: “…the 4-bore guns kicked most frightfully and, in my case, the punishment received has effected my nerves to such an extent as to have materially influenced my shooting ever since, and I am heartily sorry I ever had anything to do with them.”0 points
