  1. Cultural misunderstandings and embellished stories aside, there's no better way to provoke an over-reaction than to touch my kids.

  2. Well ....that is your right , you can remain silent. And everyone I know (and know of) in the "expert witness business" and attorneys who actually have experience defending innocent people all give the same advice.... give a limited statement to make sure you are on record as being the victim. Again...ask Larry Hickey how remaining silent did not help him . For those who don't know Larry's story ......https://armedcitizensnetwork.org/images/stories/Hickey_Booklet.pdf He was an instructor for Tactical Response and took the " STFU" advice that they gave...... if he'd just told the cops what happened instead of clamming up he'd have probably slept in his own bed that night and not spent 71 days in jail.... And on traffic stops...I guess I have just been lucky. I have yet to be set upon by the jack booted thugs of the state. In the last 30 years I have been pulled over probably a good 10 times for things ranging from running a stop sign (dismissed in court with help of the officer who I did not know) speeding (went to court and spent a day in DD school) and several times where I should have gotten a ticket but got a warning instead. And then there was one time that the cop didn't want to write me an expensive ticket for speeding so he asked me to take my seat belt off while he turned around and looked away so he could then write it for a seat belt violation instead of for speeding. So I'm not sure which exact jurisdiction all the "out to get you" street cops are in but apparently it is not in any of the ones I've been pulled over in (ranging from TN to GA, and AL) I have yet to have my rights violated, and far more times than not I have been let go with just a warning. But then again I don't get adversarial with them and I show them the same respect I show preachers and little old ladies.

  3. I think they did but I am not sure.

  4. For anyone who's not used a breakaway tongue on a light boat - they're worth it. It'll let you put this thing in the garage and close the door. For folks with militant HOA's that's worth a lot.

  5. And to top it all, Gheenoe has the best customer support, fanbase & owners club of any boat manufacturer out there! You don't see jetski owners organising week long rallies in the Keys!

  6. That LT25 is a sweet setup. I know a guy that bought his kid one and put a 40HP Honda on the back of it. It runs like an angry mosquito. I've thought a million times that he'd surely swamp it. But it'll turn on a dime under power and come up out of the hole like something is chasing it. It's impressive.

  7. Heck, you could hit some redfish or snook while you were there.

  8. Yep, for 5k & a weekend in Florida I could put you into at least 10 suitable Gheenoes right now. Locally..... https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/562032780976092/ https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/322240471766178/ https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/339950326623323/

  9. Yeah, the above is assuming new. Rob knows the Gheenoe market well - so he’s an authority here. I’d be willing to bet that if you’re willing to look around for quality used gear - and are willing to wait and maybe drive a little, you could get everything I quoted above for well south of $5k. For that matter, it might be worth your time - and a good use of money to spend $1500 on a used boat. It’ll get you on the water, let you familiarize yourself with the area and the fishing, and then let you figure out what makes sense for your next step. I may have a bias. In our house we have 2 kayaks, a canoe, a Hobie Pro Angler, two stand up paddleboards, a 19 foot center console inshore boat, and a bunch of surfboards (that would be tough to fish from.) If I could buy another boat this afternoon, it would be a Gheenoe or an 1860 jonboat. Or maybe if I wanted to spend more and support a Tennessee based company, I’d buy a Towee. Those are boats that are made for our Tennessee waters. Some of the best fishing in our state is on waters that just aren’t going to be hospitable to a jetski - and that’s assuming they’re not prohibited outright.

  10. I still think @Chucktshoesfavorite bass tracker classic is a good option in that price range. https://www.trackerboats.com/boat/?boat=4883

  11. For a budget north if $10k, you're daft for going with a jetski. For one thing, they lose their resale value quicker than most laptops & for another the maintenance cost for a jet drive is silly. I'd go with Mac's idea of a Gheenoe Super 16. I regularly fish from one with a buddy in Florida & there's nothing you can't do in it. Probably the best bang for the buck thing in small water craft!

  12. There have been more than a few occasions where I wished that I could grab somebody's kid and spank them for extremely rude offensive behavior, but of course, I know better than to act on that.

  13. Surely so, but do the FS mags fit it as well? Haven't looked at the Security 9 platform yet but hear and read nice thing about it. Don't need or can afford another pistol now; but with Ruger quality, this should be a good compact for concealed carry.

  14. The advice to say NOTHING is the advice that is given by attorneys who have a lot of experience defending guilty people. Ask Larry Hickey how that turned out for him. While he was invoking his right to remain silent evidence disappeared , was missed at the scene , and he was assumed to have been the aggressor when he was not. Fortunately for him after spending 71 days in jail and the better part of a couple of years in and out of court resulting in 2 hung juries the "victims" (the aggressors who outnumbered him ) who started the fight made a play for a payout from Larry's homeowners insurance and finally had to admit that the shooting took place ON LARRY'S PROPERTY and not in the street as they had claimed and testified to in court. If Larry had mentioned that at the scene then that would have been in the record to begin with and there's a good chance he would not have looked like the guilty party.....but by taking the "I ain't sayin' nothin' without my attorney" stance he got put in the suspect column instead of the victim column. Do what you want. If you are guilty of a crime then the best thing for you to do is DON'T SAY ANYTHING but if you have just legitimately defended yourself or others and you don't give at least a limited statement (limited statement and THEN be quiet) you are making a mistake. You need to make sure that exculpatory evidence and witnesses get put on the record. Also, 911 not only records everything but it STARTS recording as soon as the number is dialed. So keep that in mind as well.

  15. You didn't ask - but as someone who spends a lot of time fishing skinny water, if I was going to spend $14K on a boat today, it would be like this with some change left over: Gheenoe - 18' Super - $6800 Aluminum Trailer - $1700 Poling Platform - $675 20HP Honda Outboard - $3420 Lowrance Elite 9 TI2 - $799 Total - $13394 You could even add a Power Pole Micro Anchor and still come in under $14K. Want to save a few bucks? Go with the 16' Super and you'll subtract $2200. I would probably save up a few bucks for a nice trolling motor. They've got some amazing ones these days that'll hook straight to the GPS if you like.

  17. Freaking rabbit hole got me...... I free floated the 223 upper with a $12 eBay M-lok fore end, switched out the scope for a slightly more versatile Barska Euro 30 3-9. Added a cheap drop in trigger which I stripped apart & did a little stone & polish work. Those 2 things alone shrank my group sizes from 4" average to sub 1" I also picked up a real deal on a 300blk upper (sub $200, no bolt or carrier) & installed a Leopold Mk Freedom 1.5-4 (thanks @Wade195) Still working up supersonic loads for that, but it's showing a ton of promise. I'm now running right at $700, for everything! I still consider this to be one of my better bargain buys!

  18. The late Jimmy Colvard, one of Nashville's greatest (Barefoot Jerry, Area Code 615, and countless sessions) main guitar was a $99 Univox Les Paul knockoff. Can't even begin to tell you how many records it's on.
