  1. Got one this afternoon. Took about an hour and a half to talk him off the ridge. 22 lbs. 10 in beard. 1 1/4" spurs. Lots of action this weekend. Saw a total of seven toms, most of them tight on the hens and unwilling to budge. They seemed largely unaffected by the wind, rain, sun or anything that wasn't a hen or a human. Finally suckered one in close this afternoon.

  2. I joined the local NRL22 matches here in Middle TN this year. Since the SE Regional match is going to be held locally, of course I’ll attend even though I don’t have a snowball’s chance in hell of winning. I have been lucky enough to win a couple of prizes at the national level including an Area 419 rail for a CZ 455 or 457 in the random draw for February. While there is going to be a prize table for winners, NRL22 has been very good to me and I thought I’d give back something locally by putting up a better item for a random draw than might otherwise be available so that everyone competing has a chance at winning a nice prize. So I’m donating a Limited Edition (from 2017) Savage A22 FV FDX XP rifle. This is a new in the box rifle that has only been pulled out to take the accompanying pictures. The difference of this model from the standard Savage A22 is that it has a FDE stock, 16.5″ threaded barrel, comes with a Butler Creek 25-round mag (in addition to the regular 10-round rotary mag), and is topped off with a Bushnell TRS-25 red dot sight. I have another one of these (scoped) and it’s pretty accurate for an out of the box 22LR. Please note that I'm personally providing this rifle without compensation from the league, I'm not attempting to advertise my business, nor am I associated with NRL22 or the local chapter other than just being a member and enjoying the sport. It's my way of giving back to the local club by encouraging others to show up for the match. To win the rifle: 1) You must register for the 2019 NRL22 SE Regionals. Note - you do NOT have to be a NRL22 member to sign up for the regionals and participate. 2) Show up and shoot the 12 stages. 3) Be there in person for the prize drawing after the match. 4) And put up with having your photo taken with your new Savage A22 FV FDX XP rifle. Big grin is optional. More details on the match: The NRL.22 South East Regional Championship will be a 1-day precision rimfire event consisting of 12 stages and requiring a minimum of 120 rounds to complete. Target engagements may range from 25 to 370 yards. The NRL22 South East Regional is a stand alone event. The match will be ran under the 2018-2019 NRL22 rule set. However the match does not count toward season points or placement in the National Championship. Shooters should expect a fun and challenging match. The NRL22 South East Regional is open to all shooters. It is not required to be a NRL22 member to enter or draw from the prize table. The match is open to all shooters from all locations. The match fee includes a match t-shirt, lunch, and 12 challenging stages. For any questions, feel free to call the match director Mike Millikan at 931-306-1090 Registration is open on practiscore: https://practiscore.com/2019-nrl-22-south-east-regional-championship/register Price: $75 Address: Eagle Eye Shooting Complex 30 Elk Ridge Rd. Mt. Pleasant, TN 38474 Start time: 7:00 am on April 13th 2019.

  5. They wouldn't admit it to be defective. They offered to replace the slide for free as part of the paid rebuild. My options when I called was a new slide for $499 or a free slide with the $170 service, so it was a no brainer.

  6. This gun is the same thing as the Sarsilmaz SAR-9, a Turkish pistol that's been out about two years. Stoeger is just putting their name on it. The gun handles great, and seems accurate in offhand shooting. But it has without doubt the worst trigger I've ever seen in a striker-fired pistol. My brother bought two samples -- one stainless, one blue -- and both suffered from this problem. The trigger on the stainless one locked in the rear position and wouldn't return forward, so that gun's been sent back to the manufacturer for repair. The blued one hasn't done that yet, but I'm expecting it will. There really isn't a good way to convey how bad the trigger is -- a long, rough pull with many hitches along the way until it finally breaks. You'd have to feel it yourself to appreciate its wretchedness. But if the trigger problems can be fixed, it's a gun with possibilities.

  7. It was about 10:30 when I got mine. I watched the hens come off the ridge and into the field with is a steep hill. My dad was higher up on the next ridge and could see them also. He said there were 3 toms but I only seen one. He got with the hens so I had to wait til he did his business with them.

  9. I wrote Senator Marsha Blackburn about me concerns regarding the Red Flag bills being considered and below was her reply. April 1, 2019 Dear Mr. Richards, Thank you for writing regarding proposed restrictions on gun rights. I always appreciate hearing from Tennesseans. The Second Amendment protects the right to keep and bear arms, and this cherished right stems from the rich history of our country's founding. Law-abiding citizens who are gun owners should not be subjected to unconstitutional abridgements of their rights or targeted for persecution. Protection of our Second Amendment rights is dear to me. I am opposed to restrictions on firearms that could unfairly target hunters, homeowners, and law-abiding citizens. As a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, you be assured that I will keep your thoughts in mind should any legislation limiting our Constitutional right to bear arms come before the committee or the full Senate. Again, thank you for taking the time to contact me. If you would like regular updates on my work for Tennessee, please sign up for my monthly newsletter or follow me on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram. Sincerely, Marsha Blackburn United States Senator

  11. Ok so when I write one I need to ask for a specific topic I want a reply to and not just an open door topic. I did specify Red Flag Laws and I did notice that the reply did not answer the specific subject I wrote her about. And yes the reply was a vague response but to be honest I was surprised I even got a reply at all. I guess the reply is a good place to start at least.

  12. It's certainly not a waste of time, and good on you for doing it. You just need to be careful in reading politicians' replies. Blackburn gave you some vague generalities about supporting the Second Amendment, but said nothing about the specific issue that was the topic of your letter. Anyone can claim to be in favor of the Second Amendment -- heck, even Obama says he supports the Second Amendment -- but when faced with an actual vote on Second Amendment issues, most politicians will vote against freedom.

  13. No, you should call them and write paper letters as well, if they have fax numbers do that. You should start with HB 0409, which actually has a chance of passing this year f I could get some support from the folks...

  14. nice way for them to take care of their customers without opening themselves up to admitting faulty slides...I don't blame them and $170 is a very fair deal for a gun that old.

  19. I've handled 3 of them . I like them a bunch. I see no negative things. I was about to buy one last Monday but decided to wait a few more weeks. It seems very simple and that's what I like. The grip feels great , the internals are very glock-like which is good to me. I put in a Glock 43 magazine in it at the gun shop and fits and works great with them. That's another plus. The only thing holding me back right now is I am waiting to handle a Stoeger STR-9 . It's a new polymer double stack full size pistol prices a little lower than the Mossberg. If I decide not to buy the Stoeger , then I'll get the Mossberg. Bottom line , I like the Mossberg a BUNCH. I say go for it .

  20. I started shooting again a little less than 2 years ago and have gone though a whole range of pistols to get what I consider to be the best daily carry solution for me. I started off with a Glock 19/23, briefly went to a S&W Shield, changed to a Glock 26, and now carry a Sig P365 with a the 12-round mag. I don't like the feel with the 10-round mag. I'm still slightly more accurate with the Glocks as I've only put about 2000 rounds through the P365 so far.

  21. After 15 years, for $170, I would return it to Kimber for repair. My Ultra CDP II is dependable at 20 years. Hope it continues another 20.

  23. I talked to Kimber yesterday and they gave me an RMA to return it. For $170 they will completely tear the gun down, clean it, replace all the springs and fit a new slide for it. I feel like that's a fair price for a gun out of warranty. The nice thing is I was told the gun would have a new warranty after their work is done. They will ship it back for free. The company I work for has a UPS with negotiated, discount rates, and I can get it over nighted cheaper than if I go to UPS. I will ship it Monday and will follow up with the results. Thanks for the feedback.

  24. My lowly submission. Pictured are two of the 6 stamps I’ve applied for over the past calendar year. Currently have two more lowers I need to send off to Mike for engraving, then efile those as well. Last year I ordered a can about every three months, so this should be a fun summer. 9” 300blk, Omega 9k.

  25. I recorded a few short videos of my friends shooting the other day. Can’t wait to make it back out there to finally bang the steel at 1,035. This time I’ll have enough ammo when we leave the short range

  27. Chuck that would be a reason not to come, clipping your toenails. LOL I asked a few retired, bachelor neighbors about going fishing and I swear one of them told me Saturday was his wash day. Now I am not a slob, but really you are retired, live by yourself and you can't wait a few days to do the washing. I am scratching those 2 for asking about fishing. If I didn't know them better I would say they didn't like me.
