Posting a link for the near exclusive purpose of posting a link isn't much of a value add to the forum. For the most part, we're all pretty cognizant of how to stay informed, and don't confine ourselves to the "liberal media"- whatever the definition of that is for the week- to keep up with events. Posting a link and getting a conversation started by offering a perspective, or thought unexpressed in the article is a different story, and one of the reasons I like to stick around. What I think Garfua was getting at, though he's quite at liberty to correct me if I'm wrong, is some variation of that. This being a discussion site, we should discuss things and have some great debates, not just post links and like them a la Facebook before we move onto the next shiny thing. We've got some well thought folks on the board, so it kind of pains me to think we could devolve into what you see elsewhere in social media if we're not keeping ourselves intellectually honest. That's just my take, and since I'm not a moderator, the take and $1.10 will only get you a large coke or tea at McDonald's...grain of salt included at no extra charge.3 points

Hey Oldnewbie, It'd be worth a drive to Lebanon, TN. to stop by Ed's Coins. I'd call first to make sure he's open. Very knowledgeable and honest. Let me know if you need his number.2 points

Then why even post it? Seriously, what’s the point? TGO is not The Blaze and it’s not Brietbart.2 points

No one knows that. He killed his Mother and took the gun from the safe. Whether or not he had been given access to it is not known. Without clear cut evidence; common sense would say he had access to the gun. However, my comment was simply because you are saying we are all wrong and this has nothing to do with liability for Sandy Hook. I believe you are mistaken That’s certainly what they are asking for. As I said above; I don’t think the SCOTUS will allow this. But you never know; they may not even hear it. If the lawsuit goes forward and they win; it will be punitive damages. A jury can allow the highest limits of liability allowed by the state. My guess is that would break Remington. Who is next, Glock, Barrett, S&W??1 point

I decided to get rid of my coins a few years back (before move to TN) and found an auction house that specializes in guns, coins, stamps and a few other collectibles. They don't mix them to much in one auction but they do coins and stamps together. I had bought a few guns from them and they seemed honest so I called and made an appointment and took about half my coin and all my stamps down. They spend an hour or so going through them with me and made the judgments on the fly what would sell high enough to be worth their commision (I think they charged the seller 10% and the buyer 10%). I went home with the coins they said to spend and all the stamps, they said they would not sell for even face value. Was generally pleased with the prices they got, some much higher than expected and some a little less, so I took the other half down and did the same thing. Probably could have spent years and sold them myself and made a bit more but this was easy and relatively fast. I say relative because they usually only did one coin auction a month and they had enough items consigned that they spread my first batch over a two months and the second batch was a few months later. I thought about keeping the silver for when the SHTF but I also knew my Dad's collection was still sitting at my Mother's place and it was several times bigger than mine and I would eventually end up with those also. I haven't looked for such a place in TN but they must exist.1 point

I would like to sight mine in at about 800 yards. I'm looking forward to the illuminated retinal optics. My range is only good for about 250 yards. When I get recovered from my surgery, I plan on shooting once a week.1 point

I believe this to be quite accurate. A corner stone of stability in western civilization is the nuclear family models. This is why the natural outcome of the Great Society programs that pushed fathers out of the homes is what you have in urban neighborhoods where gang violence is the norm and in excess of 70% of children born out of wedlock. Patriarchal monogamy was one of the primary drivers that led to the ascent of western civilization, and the very successful attacks on it over the last half century are a primary reason we are in decline.1 point

My comments had nothing to do with his previous record. As far as criminal charges; he will be judged on what took place in that incident only. There were no comments about a gun (until later); so I don’t know if he saw one or not. He opened fire standing beside the car. He laid on the hood after he began to fire. If he claims the guy tried to run him over; that video puts him on shaky ground. I’m all for being able to shoot fleeing forcible felons; although the courts disagree. But even then, auto theft isn’t a forcible felony. But who knows; that guy may have pointed a gun at him, and that is why the Officer opened fire. I don’t know. When an armed criminal gets shot by the cops or a citizen; I give the benefit of the doubt to the cop or citizen. The courts may not, but juries usually do.1 point

Sounds like something they would have at the Sunrise Supermarket here in Knoxville, a full-sized Asian grocery with all kinds of bizzare things.1 point

Do you have to have a stock? If not, why not use that lower for something else and build an AR Pistol? They are cheap now, and you don’t have to mess with tax stamps.1 point

I've personally always found it really easy to make it into a collage. Especially if I'm the one making it. Facebook does it for you all the time now.0 points

It is certainly an extremely beautiful knife but I hope if I ever have that amount of gun/knife money available that I don't see a knife like that available. It would reside in the evidence room after my wife used it on me.0 points
