The last time the legislature tweaked the permit process a couple of years ago, we lost reciprocity in two states, MN and WA. Hence, I'm always leery of anything regarding the process anymore. - OS5 points

Methinks he's in for a hard row to hoe with this. I recommend he NOT try to buy a gun yet, until he's 100% positive it is legal. Expungement doesnt necessarily do it. He could be charged with a crime for trying. This document may help, or not: https://www.tn.gov/content/dam/tn/attorneygeneral/documents/ops/2015/op15-75.pdf Will's recommendation, above, to get a lawyer, is sound advice, and GET ONE THAT KNOWS THIS STUFF, NOT JUST ANY LAWYER.4 points

Sorry for the quality but I snapped this just before sunrise and found out it's Venus, the moon and then Jupiter. I knew when I looked up in the sky it seemed different which caused me to snap the photo. Anyway...there it is.3 points

REMOVE the penalty for carrying past signage ! Signs protect NO ONE. And an otherwise law abiding person should not be able to be prosecuted for committing the "crime" of refusing to be helpless.2 points

I picked up a Savage 110 Tactical Desert in 6.5 Creedmoor a few weeks ago. Still haven’t made it to the range yet, had a cold that’s hanging on and won’t let go. Hoping to get out this weekend and test it. Everything is stock as from the factory, 24” threaded barrel, oversized bolt handle, adapters for longer LOP and comb height, accutrigger and accustock. I put Nightforce ultralight rings on the factory EGW 20 moa rail, then mounted and torqued the Vortex Viper HS-T 6-24x50 into place. I put a Harris bipod on it but will also be running my Swagger bipod on this rifle when coyote hunting. I recently picked up a Vortex bubble level as well so I put it on during this process. The rifle looks and feels great. I haven’t messed with the comb height or LOP adapters yet but will when I finally take it out. I’m curious to see what the 6.5 can do but didn’t buy it because of the internet fame. I was looking at a few 22-250 rifles for coyote hunting. Later a buddy of mine were discussing the pros and cons and we got to talking about the 6mm Creedmoor. I was definitely interested in the 6mm but decided to go with the 6.5 mainly for access to factory ammo. I will be hand loading eventually but for now, there are many choices of quality ammo available. Anyway, I’m excited to have it and ready to get out and enjoy it, especially with the SilencerCo Omega out front!1 point

I have seen badgers in the UK. They could do some serious body damage. LoL1 point

It's not totally out of the realm of possibility that you might tag some squirrels or turkeys with that truck...1 point

If that happens when you go out for a shotgun what happens when you go out to buy a new truck?1 point

Try Ruel King in Clarksville they always have some some SR1911 in the case. You can also check RK guns.com.1 point

Someone had one for sale here a while ago I think..... yup...1 point

I know I'm harping on your spectrum but get rid of it. Continued issues after " repairs" and Two FTF again.... sure it went off the second time but that's nothing to be proud of. I know you spoke of getting the hi point, I would trust that thing over the Taurus. LCP's are really cheap now, that would be an upgrade and If you can spend 250.00 get the Ruger EC9S.1 point

I can post a recent photo of it wearing the Surefire X300U-A light and really send you over the edge. I've started carrying it to church.1 point

Lawless is a really good flick. I don't remember much gun play in that one though, other than the gunfight/roadblock at the covered bridge. Glad someone else saw and enjoyed the movie though.1 point

Public land.... one of the things I really miss about living in Oregon although I always avoided shooting into Trees and cleaned up after shooting. Here in TN no good places to shoot for free but no one is trying to take away your gun rights... There in the PNW, the gun rights are disappearing fast but still plenty of free shooting spots...... I guess there is no utopia unless you have a time machine.1 point

Your not going to get correct answer here. I have been asked this same question by a couple people I have worked with and found a legal mess in this case. I have sent them to John Harris,Nashville Firearms Attorney. The questions l had run into are Can an ex felon ever purchase or possess a gun in Tn with expungement or pardon? Can they be in home or auto if someone else has a firearm. The info on Felon is probably stuck in the pipeline and is this person going to be charged with trying to purchase a firearm. I have lost touch with folks I refered to attorney and do not know if the pursued it. All I can say is contact a attorney that deals in this matter. I have bee told Florida just started allowing it on a case by case basis. Good Luck and let us know outcome.1 point

The bill changed the name of the current handgun carry permit to an enhanced handgun carry permit BUT does not add any enhancements to it as in less off limits locations such as school property and the no gun sign weapons crime. The bill then adds a concealed only permit that requires less training. You still have to get a background check and fingerprinting, but hunter's education or a web based gun safety class could be sufficient training for this new permit. The new permit will be offered by the state at a reduced cost. I personally do not see the point in the NRA or any pro gun group spending the time on this bill if there are not going to be reduced gun free areas, such as school property, for the current handgun carry permit = enhanced carry permit that requires live fire training. Is it really that difficult for the NRA to get behind a decent pro gun bill in TN so that people with permits can legally carry in more places? Every state bordering TN has legalized college carry except North Carolina. In some of those states it is also legal to carry in K-12 schools.1 point

There is no "public/BLM land" like that here. Everything "public" is a national forest or park. You either shoot at a designated public range or on private property.1 point
-
Amen. Make it a TRULY enhanced permit and make it so that it overrides signage , etc and they will have to hire extra people to process all the applications....1 point

So what will you do now? Serious question here. I cannot say I'm real impressed with the way this has gone for you. I had given a little thought to buying one. I liked the feel of the Spectrum, but your results may top the interest I had for it.1 point

National Forest shooting ranges. Fee is usually $2 for the day. These are usually ok. They can get crowded in good weather. https://www.fs.usda.gov/activity/cherokee/recreation/otheractivities/?recid=34864&actid=106 There is not much public land that is just open shooting that I know of.1 point

Do you have to have a stock? If not, why not use that lower for something else and build an AR Pistol? They are cheap now, and you don’t have to mess with tax stamps.1 point

I used to buy Levis, but they became overpriced and jumped into the modern bandwagon with the styles. I usually get Wranglers or Lee jeans now, and those I get when on sale. Another company which feels they can come out ahead, personally I don't think this will help their sales slump.1 point
