A quote from Marsha Blackburn re: HR 8: DEFENDING THE SECOND AMENDEMENT On Wednesday, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi rammed a radical, unconstitutional bill (H.R. through the House of Representatives to mandate universal background checks for every firearm sale. Protection of our cherished Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms is a top priority for me. As such, I am 100% opposed to this bill. I will continue to oppose any restrictions on firearms that could unfairly target hunters, homeowners, and law-abiding citizens. As a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, I will fight to ensure H.R. 8 is dead on arrival in the Senate.2 points

I picked up a Savage 110 Tactical Desert in 6.5 Creedmoor a few weeks ago. Still haven’t made it to the range yet, had a cold that’s hanging on and won’t let go. Hoping to get out this weekend and test it. Everything is stock as from the factory, 24” threaded barrel, oversized bolt handle, adapters for longer LOP and comb height, accutrigger and accustock. I put Nightforce ultralight rings on the factory EGW 20 moa rail, then mounted and torqued the Vortex Viper HS-T 6-24x50 into place. I put a Harris bipod on it but will also be running my Swagger bipod on this rifle when coyote hunting. I recently picked up a Vortex bubble level as well so I put it on during this process. The rifle looks and feels great. I haven’t messed with the comb height or LOP adapters yet but will when I finally take it out. I’m curious to see what the 6.5 can do but didn’t buy it because of the internet fame. I was looking at a few 22-250 rifles for coyote hunting. Later a buddy of mine were discussing the pros and cons and we got to talking about the 6mm Creedmoor. I was definitely interested in the 6mm but decided to go with the 6.5 mainly for access to factory ammo. I will be hand loading eventually but for now, there are many choices of quality ammo available. Anyway, I’m excited to have it and ready to get out and enjoy it, especially with the SilencerCo Omega out front!1 point

Had a great time shooting today!! Got the Savage dialed in. Then we moved to the 1,035 yard range before it got dark. Spotter walked my shots up to within a foot of the gong and I ran out of the ammo that I’d zeroed with (Sig Sauer 140 grain OTM) Tried five more shots with some Hornady Black but light was low and couldn’t get it done. Had so much fun though! Mounted the Area 419 Hellfire Brake this evening even though it will probably rarely get used. But the lockup design is amazing and I’m so glad to have it now. These are groups from the Sig ammo, I’m happy for this to be an off the shelf rifle, no break in at all, and especially for ammo that cost $22-$24 per box. I will load my own once I get the dies but for off the shelf ammo I’m happy.1 point

That's a good looking rifle. I will admit I am biased to Savage. I have two, neither of them are the high end models, but both are lights out accurate and rugged as hell. I just finished modifying the acutrigger on my Axis today, it will now come down to under a pound. I like that bipod a lot. Which model is it? My Axis is going to be my coyote gun and those look perfect. I'm usually a shooting stick kind of guy, as I like to sit up and lean back on a tree.1 point

Well, except for Kevin Costner's seven-shot revolver, and Robert Duvall's shotgun that will blast people through the air....1 point

Now now we cant just up and leave over differences of opinion....hell that's gonna happen in any group or forum. Its ok for all of us to have conflicting view points this isnt fox news or CNN. Ya know maybe this subject is just a bit too heated ...lets go back to just talking about guns, shooting sports, etc1 point

What's so hard about letting us exercise our rights? I'm sure most, if not all, would keep their's here for the same reason, I know I will.1 point

I'd cut the damn guns up if they paid me. It's business. What a bunch of whiny dogmatic jerks some of you are. Proof that the right is as stupid as the left. Adios.1 point

Funny you should mention Yugoslavia. That’s what I do see happening here. I’ve become convinced that the Balkanization of the US is the inevitable outcome and it will be centered around economic factors. Nobody has the will or desire to upset the apple cart until they pick up their phone and the internet doesn’t work, the light switch doesn’t do anything, or the grocery store shelves are empty. Until that happens, we’re all just along for the ride.1 point

At some point a million armed citizens simply say "No".... I'm just not sure what that breaking point actually is.....We have seen it on this continent in the not too distant past but that was when every day life was not nearly as comfortable. But being used to the comfort thing though convinces people to accept what their ancestors probably would not accept....1 point

Supper tonight made me think to tell those of you who might not know. Dollar Tree stores have a freezer section. In those freezers, you can find thin cut rib eye steaks for $1 each. Put a little Dale's sauce on them and grill. They fit perfectly on a hogie bun, and are tender and delicious. I like these with home made potato chips. They are a great deal and an easy meal.1 point

If ya gotta go then vaporization would be preferable. I would hate to see my family die by radiation fallout.1 point

I lived through one Cold War and I expect to survive another. Lets face facts and the facts are if a Nuclear War starts there will be no winners but a lot of losers. Both countries would be destroyed almost imediately and both sides know that!! Along with many countries that are not even involved in the conflict. Both the United States and Russia have been Sabre rattling since the early 50's which in turn keeps other countries around the world in control. As far as NATO is concerned they are building a stronger alliance of neutral countries that would become involved if it was to become a ground war but if it goes Nuclear NATO is more or less not much of a player. As far as super fast Missiles, you can bet that if Russia has been working on such a weapon the United States has been working on ways to destroy them almost as soon as they are launched. There are no secrets anymore with the technology of today. I will go to bed tonight and sleep as well as I have for most of my life......................JMHO1 point

If you handload, all it takes is a few minutes of focused inattention! In the mid to late 90's I double charged a 230 gr 45 acp (normal load was 5.7 grains of W231... I dosed it with 11.4 grains). I was shooting a Glock 21 when the kaboom occurred. The explosion blew the magazine out and apart, blew the plastic off of the trigger, bulged the barrel and the slide, and split the grip frame. But I still got my hit on the last target of the run! I only had a numb trigger finger for a few hours, no other injury Thankfully. I contacted Glock, told them what I did, that it was a handload (a warranty violation if there ever was one) and that in my opinion I would have been injured (possibly seriously) if I had been shooting my 1911. The Glock rep I spoke with told me they wanted the gun, sent me a shipping label, and replaced my Glock 21, the magazine, and returned my aftermarket sights to me! That's some darn good customer service. I have no pictures as this was back in the ancient times when cameras, film, and developing of photos was required. But it certainly made an impression on me. I still handload 99% on the handgun ammo I shoot... but you can't get more OCD about the protocols, and direct visualization of the powder charge in each and every round I now load. My "Fortress Of Solitude" (the basement) is off limits to interruptions when I'm handloading these days... and I much prefer bulkier powders as well!1 point
