  1. You got this. After you’ve found a plan you like, like Greg said measure, measure, measure before you buy anything. That is very important especially when buying wood and knowing how many free cuts they give you at HD or Lowe’s if that’s the way you go. Use galvanized deck screws and drill pilot holes for them...assuming you’re going to build a beast like I did, lol.

  2. They've spent decades inoculating up and coming generations to the point where we now label a pissed off navy guy with a sh!t list of hated politicians and 15 guns as a domestic terrorist and someone we should hang. I assure you the same snowflake hipster titsuckers would load their pink panties with past tense avocado toast and la croix if they actually encountered a real terrorist. These are the same people that call 911 for other parents being "too strict" with their children at the playground. I am thankful everyday I don't have children to raise in this.

  6. Funny you should mention Yugoslavia. That’s what I do see happening here. I’ve become convinced that the Balkanization of the US is the inevitable outcome and it will be centered around economic factors. Nobody has the will or desire to upset the apple cart until they pick up their phone and the internet doesn’t work, the light switch doesn’t do anything, or the grocery store shelves are empty. Until that happens, we’re all just along for the ride.

  7. At some point a million armed citizens simply say "No".... I'm just not sure what that breaking point actually is.....We have seen it on this continent in the not too distant past but that was when every day life was not nearly as comfortable. But being used to the comfort thing though convinces people to accept what their ancestors probably would not accept....

  8. Supper tonight made me think to tell those of you who might not know. Dollar Tree stores have a freezer section. In those freezers, you can find thin cut rib eye steaks for $1 each. Put a little Dale's sauce on them and grill. They fit perfectly on a hogie bun, and are tender and delicious. I like these with home made potato chips. They are a great deal and an easy meal.

  10. It depends... For most days going about my business as a private citizen I carry 1 spare G17 mag just forward of my non dominant side hip. For church security duty I carry 2. When talking about shootings in the criminal assault paradigm the odds are exponentially overwhelming that whatever happens will most likely be over one way or the other well before the ammo in my first mag is expended. Obviously the lower the capacity the more your mileage may vary. Since I am not tasked on an everyday basis with laying hands on and taking people into custody that don't want to be taken into custody there is very little on a daily basis that compels me to stay and fight. In the typical civilian encounters where someone approaches and produces a weapon to coerce you to give up your wallet or to go somewhere with them, you presenting a gun and shooting at them (whether you hit them or not) generally tends to create an unscheduled track meet with them running as fast as they can away from you .....and you often running the opposite direction...assuming they are not killed outright. The odds of you even having the time to reload before it is over is unlikely. If the "typical civilian street gunfight" last 3-4 seconds from guns coming out to end of shooting there just isn't much time for a reload in there. John Correia (Active Self Protection) has watched over 15,000 civilian gunfights on video from security cameras worldwide and I have been an attendee at the presentation he does at various training conferences. He says that in all the video he has watched there is almost never a reload accomplished before the bad guys either stop or have run away....especially when people are reloading from their pockets. We watched one of those videos in his presentation where the defender reloaded from a pocket. It took a timed 15 seconds to access the mag and complete the reload. The bad guy was probably 2 blocks away before the guy got the gun up and running again. John goes as far as to saying since he carries a hi cap gun he has stopped carrying a spare mag and carries pepper spray in its place. I have long preferred to carry both because while pepper spray can be very useful it cannot help me clear a malfunction that requires a new mag to make the gun work. So I generally carry a spare mag and pepper spray. The church security paradigm is a little different. We may well be facing a dedicated and prepared opponent for whom self preservation is not their overriding concern. In fact they probably EXPECT to die during the event. In that case it may well take more hits and they may possibly have to be delivered from much longer distances to stop him than would be likely in the typical street criminal mugging/assault . We may be engaging someone who is using cover and we might have to use gunfire to "pin him in place " while a maneuvering element closes with him to render him neutralized. That type of thing has virtually no commonality with the typical civilian use of force. So for church security duty I err on the side of caution and carry a second spare mag.

  12. Yes, know where you are placing your bench, and the closest sizing you can make. That will make your project much easier and will look better. When I started benches/tables in my garage...I had a lot of salvaged cabinets from an office building. They were heavy, very heavy. Not all of them were the same size. So I had to do a bit of cutting and even adding a board to the bacs of some to make everything mate up. But to me, most importantly, make it work for you. Get your height and top depth so that it meets your size. Not too short or tall, nor too deep as to make it difficult to sit and work. Good luck, sir. And have fun with it. Really. It should be a fun build and give you much satisfaction. Measure...neat idea. lol You have no idea how many sides became leg posts and top braces for the top decking before I settled down and really paid attention. I tried to cut exact and had a lot just a wee bit too short. So I learned if you're not a pro...cut long and then shorten it to fit.

  13. You have good taste in handguns. Really fond of my PPQ. The trigger and reset on them is just amazing. I liked the 9mm so much that I bought a 45 PPQ. It wasn't a mistake, but I've found that I do prefer the 9 version. Should offer it for sale of trade, but just haven't gotten around to it. As for me, the personal favorite "plastic" guns just have to be the PPQ, Canik TP9SFx, and the HKVP9. Of course the uber dependable Glocks are in the mix as well, but the others are just more fun at the range.

  14. So, to maybe extend the original post while trying to stay within the spirit, does anyone have any specific recommendations for things they wish they had included in their workbench/ work space? Or maybe something they have, but wouldn't include again if they were startng from scratch?

My children are all grown and their children are all grown with children of their own and the ones old enough to have a gun has a gun and has been raised up in a family of firearms and respect them and as long as they are alive they will have that respect for the 2nd Amendment and the Constitution.

  20. They'll do it selectively, make an example of some to scare the rest. I'm sure they'll monitor sites like TGO to see who is selling. (I'll bet they already do.) Another thing to consider is that they'll keep track of the sellers also, do too many transactions in their opinion & said seller/dealer will get a visit from the .g0v.

  23. I bought some nails, 2x4, and 2x6 lumber and built my own. You could set a V8 engine on it. Saw 'em off and nail 'em together. It ain't that hard. Actually, you'll want to screw together the part that holds your vice and reloading press.

  24. We are getting there but we aren't quite there yet. Price and packaging are a real issue. Li-Ion batteries don't like to get hot. When they get hot, they expand and explode. Also, for cells strong enough to stand up to constant charge cycles and hard cranking, you are looking at a lot of money. The company that made my jumpstarter also has a line of batteries. You can see they start around $400. https://shop.antigravitybatteries.com/productline/starter-batteries/automotive/

  26. Fuel consumption gauge is a common misconception. It's actually a reverse fun-o-meter. The shorter it is, the more fun you're likely to be having.
    1 point
  27. I have a similar readout on the dash display of my Pete (with much lower numbers! ) and what it is is a guage that shows current fuel consumption as MPG. So when you’re in the accelerator hard, you’re burning more fuel and the number drops. If you’re cruising easy on easy terrain, the gauge rises. It helps give you time feedback on your driving habits that can help you drive in a manner that allows more efficient fuel usage.

  36. That is, for the most part, like asking a cremator (someone who cremates bodies) if they'd murder their neighbor for the right price. Destroying these guns was legal. These guns were either confiscated or exchanged in one of the "buy-backs". Confiscating your neighbor's gun if asked, for the right price, encroaches upon their rights. Cremating bodies is legal. Murdering your neighbor is not. It also encroaches upon their rights.
