  1. I don't understand the outrage. If my local sheriff asked me to cut up some guns for him, and the price was right, I'd fire up the torch. Don't buy anything from me either I guess.

  2. I hog hunted for years with dogs. Had to sew a few dogs up but none of us ever go ripped up. My dad would put them down with one shot from colt single action frontier scout 22 long rifle. Taught me when I was about thirteen. One shot and down they go. I still have that gun forty five years later. Just wish I had the knees I had back then so I could keep up with those dogs.

  3. The guns were going to be destroyed regardless of who did it, do I like it, absolutely not. The contributions to the gun grabbing dem's are the thing that bothers me. It would be interesting to see how many of the employees at Benchmade approved of this, probably not many but they probably need their jobs so they do what the boss says. Do some research & see who contributes to the gun grabbers, bet there are some real surprises out there. Some might never be able to go to their favorite grocery store... BTW: The Benchmade knife I have for sale was picked up prior to the outrage.

  5. I'm thinking we need to organise a group trip to Altamaha, south Georgia.......plenty of pigs, never more than a 20yd shot, thick timber & palmettoes, swampy, snakes & skeeters galore & 100% humidity. You'll literally love it or die

  8. As if the law had anything to do with it. Idiot with gun happens anywhere you have rednecks. I agree that our anti-gun "Republican" legislators would be happy to use the example. Sorry if I sound a little like John Harris. He's right a whole lot of the time.

  9. Rule of thumb, if it's "free" for you to use, you (more specifically, your data) is the product being used by the company, sold to someone else to make their margins, or both.

  13. A coworker was mentioning this to me the other day, about a week ago. I do think this will very nearly if not completely cause Benchmade to go kaput. However, I do have two thoughts that I'm trying to wrap my head around: As a private company, as local PD approaches you and offers you money to destroy firearms. If you don't accept, someone else will. Perhaps it is $5,000 to $10,000 pure net profit, minus electricity and wear and tear on equipment. In a way, wouldn't you be crazy not to? The mistake was the Social Media posting that alienated 90% or more of their customer base. (Sidenote: I have no idea if Benchmade was paid to do this "service", but I am assuming that they were). Regarding the political donations, could they be construed as attempting to buy support from politicians? You always hear about lobbyists and people trying to "buy politicians", is that what this could be construed as or have they (Benchmade) just been exposed at overall being a very left leaning company?

  14. I think S&W autos are still pretty good deals in the Auto market. But the revolver market has seen a huge jump in prices. I could see them getting into Snake Gun price range, before too much longer, at least for their steel guns. The S&W Alloy and polymar frames seem to be a bit cheaper. There was a used S&W 638 that was running for a good price here, yesterday! And I see the little .38spl Bodyguards on sale here in Knoxville for around $299, brand new, from time to time. I've only read mixed review on these, though.

  18. AND....for what it's worth...I made a decent find yesterday. Visited a local shop and found a few items that came in on a trade. Several I liked, but one I just kept coming back to. Found what appears to be a pristine, unfired S&W Model 915. Looks like new, box is like new, all items included from Smith...papers and plastic chamber plug. Paid a fair price for it. Not a great steal, but for what it is, I think I did ok on it.

  19. Hi folks! I’m about to be offered a job in the south east part of the state. I’m originally a Marylander, and currently live in central New York. I’m looking forward to living in a state were liberty is important again. I lived in New Hampshire for four years, and that was awesome! The laws up here are more stupid than you can imagine, but there are a lot of good people here. It will be good to meet some other good people when I get down there. :-)

  26. https://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/2019/02/21/benchmade-helps-destroy-guns/ I don't see what they did as wrong at all...now I don't know about their actual politics but I understand why they helped the local sheriff as they probably had torches and cutters available that most shops do not. I don't own any benchmade knives but if any of you are outraged that do i'll be happy to take those anti-2a pieces of junk off your hands.

  31. I have friends in upstate New York who feel the same way. Some beautiful land they live on but unfortunately their area isn't represented by the beliefs of people in the area. As my friend says, that one big blob of people has ruined our entire state.

  32. I grew up in NY my whole life to parents who grew up on farms. When I moved here my dad commented on how this state feels like the way New York used to be when he was a kid. You're going to love it!

  33. You will love it down here. It will take a while to get use to all the freedom but it is great. I made the move about 4 years ago. First gun shop I stopped in, even before we had officially moved, asked where I was from and when I told him he said welcome to America. So I pass it on to you for when you get moved.

  34. Welcome I made the move several years ago and love it. Everyone here at TGO has been great. It soooooo much better to live in a placs where we can preserve our rights rather than fight to recover them.

  35. If a dime is that big a deal to you, just order it on the internet. Since the money is earmarked for TWRA projects, I do not mind it. They have fish hatcheries scattered about for restocking Tennessee waters, and do myriad other things with the money. We wouldn't have wild turkeys here if it were not for this. It is money well spent for the sportsman. Heck, the TWRA often solicits our opinions on things such as regulations, bag limits, etc. I wish all of government was run like the TWRA.

  36. Hi Chance, get on down here to Tennessee. We got here a few weeks ago from Streamwood ILLannoy, and absolutely love it. We live about 4 miles outside of Maryville. The TN tax on investment income will be 2% for tax year 2019, 1% for tax year 2020, and then gone. Would expense and hassle of moving to SD and then TN be worth it to avoid those low rates? You'll quickly see that the members on this forum are a MUCH happier group than our poor old buddies on the IC forum. Let us know how your plans progress. Happy to answer any questions you may have about the IL to TN transition. Every single surprise we've had has been a good one. Just sent my IL CCL and FOID card back to the IL State Police today. Sayonara! So glad to be out of the nuthouse they call Illinois (and Chicago.) Q

  38. It’s a dime a box. Doesn’t matter if it’s a 20 rd box or a case. It’s a dime that goes to the TWRA. It’s one of the least objectionable taxes in my book. If you stick around you’ll learn how big of a statement that is coming from me.

  39. Hello! I've lived in TN for one year ago today and I have yet to regret my decision but I'll start from the beginning. About a year and a half ago I visited my close friend for the first time in 2 years. I stayed a week and fell in love with the state. I particularly loved the drive down through southern VA and east TN the most. When I got back home I started looking for jobs and places go live. Barely a month later I accepted a job in Johnson City and transferred south. Most people don't understand how bad NY is until you transition to a free state. You may have heard the stories first or second hand but I have lived it. I'm only 25 so I haven't known anything but the state we know now. My dad remembers when it was blue from his childhood, but not me! Promptly moving down here I picked up my first pistol, then my second, and now I have 4. I also bought my first AR. In NY I was saving up for a build but barrels have to have threading cut off so I decided to wait. I am VERY interested in getting into competitions and steel shoots. All I've been doing is going to state ranges and it seems like the big 3 gun and PRS ranges are closer to Nashville.

  40. Welcome to NE TN. I escaped Western NY 3.5 years ago. I wasn't a NY native, and I'm old enough to know it was not a good place to be but it didn't pay the bills. Wish I would have made the move years earlier but enjoying life now.
