I’ve been quiet and I suppose in denial. My son and my cousin’s wife are battling cancer. My son has had four week long sessions of chemo, his numbers were down after every session. He was supposed to be cured after those; he is not. He is now facing more chemo and possibly radiation and surgery; he is my son and business partner. My cousin’s wife has had lots of chemo and a stem cell transplant, she is doing well; as I understand, on her way to a hopefully total recovery. I don’t ask for sympathy, just lots of prayers; the squeakiest wheel gets the grease. Send the grease.....3 points

Hi, Ladies! Heads up - We just posted two new ladies-only classes over in the Training forum. Here's a link to the info (posted by @Citizens Safety Academy). Women on Target (Feb. 23) is a fun instructional shooting clinic, and Women's Concealed Carry (May 11) is where we really start working on holster selection and technique. Both are in the Murfreesboro area. There's more info (and lots of photos!) on our website, but if you have any questions, just reply here or shoot me an email - Tiffany@CitizensSafety.com. I hope some of you will join us! Tiffany www.CitizensSafety.com2 points

I'm so happy to hear that your holster is everything you wanted it to be. It was a fun project, I like to do things a little different than what is already out there when I get the chance. Enjoy the holster and if I can do anything else in the future just let me know. Thanks for the kind words everyone.2 points

Then use a 600 grain 12GA slug. The gun will cost far less than the others you are looking at and the results of those others will pale in comparison visually.2 points

@deerslayer Sluggish... I can see where some would say that, but heck...I'm sluggish LOL We've used @BrasilNuts G34 in the past. Huuummmm? Tamara Keel does a decent writeup in RecoilWeb. She's a shooter, not just a writer. The below is quoted from an article she wrote in Recoil. I look forward to reading her followup article. https://www.recoilweb.com/seismic-disturbance-145326.html "Leaving Range Day, this ammunition is one of the most interesting things we saw there, and not least for the puzzles it raises."2 points

I don't intend to sell things, but I hedge my bets because I have been poor more often than I like.2 points

Doesn't matter if you're new to guns, an experienced shooter, on the fence, or completely terrified -- all ladies who can be safe are welcome. Northfield Boulevard, Murfreesboro, TN 37130 (with live-fire done at the OK Corral) Cost: A modest, measly, mere $40 - and that includes a bag of souvenirs! Lee Weems combines two decades of law enforcement experience along with his education from places such as the Force Science Institute, the Law of Self Defense Instructor Program, the Massad Ayoob Group Deadly Force Instructor certification course, the Federal Law Enforcement Training Centers Use of Force Instructor Training Program, and many others to create the content for this presentation. I'm starting to think that we have taken the "AR all the things" mantra just a little too far. That being said, this is interesting and I want to shoot one. https://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/2019/01/22/overmatch-precision-arms-mk36/1 point

I'd open the gas some more before swapping out the buffer. I use Spikes ST-T2 buffer in my 10.5" SBR, and also have adjustable gas like you do, I just leave it a bit open so I can shoot 55gr and 62gr ammo without any changes and I've never had an issue with it. I'm less worried about that unicorn of sweet spot, and just away from the spectrum of overgassed.1 point

Recent transplant from the left coast. But i sure like the way people think here!! Been shooting for around 55 + years now, but want to learn and contribute when i can. Regards, Hamshog1 point

The more I read about this, the more I want to try it. If it delivers as advertised, it seems like it would be the perfect subgun ammo. Might even get me off the fence for an Evo.1 point

Here’s the write up on it from TTAG. It goes a bit more in depth as to how even a narrow ruling can be a big win for us. https://www.thetruthaboutguns.com/2019/01/daniel-zimmerman/breaking-supreme-court-grants-cert-to-ny-state-rifle-pistol-assn-v-city-of-ny/ Oh, and here’s an article from the folks over at Slate freaking the eff out over this case. It’s good for a laugh. https://slate.com/news-and-politics/2019/01/supreme-court-new-york-gun-case-heller.html This is a case to watch closely because I believe it will make a seemingly small, but ultimately very significant, step towards that ultimate goal of officially recognizing that the 2A covers the bearing of arms outside the home.1 point

So, I was in the market for a cheap coyote gun when this used Axis popped up. Crappy rattle-can stock, stock trigger (30lb of grit...) & factory Bushnell. Mind you, it was $200 so I'm not complaining & it came with 400 round of 50gn hollowpoints. Picked it up this morning & immediately decided it was too long &, well....normal. 12 o'clock & I get a 1hr lunch break so I figured "*%#$ it". Pulled the stock, removed the mounts & scope, whipped off the barrel, ran to a friend with a lathe, used said lathe to chop it to 16¼", turned a nice 11° crown, ran home, removed the trigger, replaced the stock spring, installed an over travel screw, polished the trigger & sear (3lb pull, zero overtravel. Didn't have time to fix the pre-travel. I'll live with it!), reinstalled it, screwed on the barrel, headspaced it, tightened everything up, scope on, stock on, loaded the mag & zeroed the thing (1½" high at 100yds, ¾"group) & STILL had time for a cheese sammich! Do THAT with your Remchester!1 point

Held both at my local shop today, the G43X is not for me but man I really liked the 48, and I'm not Glock fan. I may break down and get one of these, but would prefer all black. $449 for either at my local shop1 point

I've never been very fond of the little Berettas. While they are small, they tend to be wide. To me it feels like you've got a baseball stuck in your pocket. That also makes it difficult to get out quickly. If you get a 3032, buy it new. The early versions had problems with the slide cracking. They fixed this in the later models by making the slide even wider. The .32acp isn't a bad little cartridge. I have several guns in that caliber. However, you can get .380s in the same size package and its a much better caliber for self defense. Not to mention that good self defense ammo is much more available and cheaper. If racking the slide is the problem, I'd suggest a locked breach style .380 such as the Colt Mustang, Sig P238 or Kimber Micro. (BTW: they're all pretty much the same gun. Just different prices. ) The locked breach design requires a much lighter recoil spring than on blowback .380s. They're much easier to rack and have lighter recoil when fired. However, they are basically scaled down 1911s and are best carried cocked and locked. If you're looking at .32s due to recoil sensitivity, I'd suggest a small frame revolver in .32 S&W Long, .32 H&R magnum or .327 Federal. The 327 will also fire the .32 Long and H&R with no problem as will the H&R fire the S&W Longs. My wife had arthritis in her hands and for her the answer was a 2" S&W Model 30 in .32 Long. She loved that little gun and could shoot it quite well. The recoil was very light and didn't bother her at all.1 point

I have never bought anything with the intent to sell it, so I buy what I like and don't worry about it. YMMV1 point

I equate this as being a new chassis option. I know its much more complicated than that but I see it as another chassis on the market. And I'm curious how that compares to the existing chassis.1 point

I went today. Saw some very nice stuff and met a lot of neat people. Actually picked up an older but new never fired Italian made Beretta 92FS INOX at a good price. My carpenter buddy introduced me to several of the exhibitors. One who had a very nice display only of S&W and Colt revolvers. He actually has some stuff he will sell that he didn't have at the show. Meeting up with him next week on a couple of Smiths I don't have. And I joined the association. Not sure what thatgets me but wanted to support the organization. Very nice to go to a gun show that's all about guns (and some knives). Excellent event for me.1 point

Just a quick note on Lee and I hope this doesn't embarrass him .... I'm not one to frivolously throw around praise but Lee is a guy that when I talk about him to other people I preface it with "That is one SMART dude.....and he is so smart he doesn't even feel the need to prove how smart he is". No kidding. He is going to put on an absolutely fabulous classroom presentation and then I will be following it up with a range session that afternoon that dovetails perfectly to cover the skills that really matter with no fluff or foolishness. This class is what your carry permit class SHOULD have been. And with 2 instructors with our credentials certainly no one can complain about the pricing structure.... Hope to see you in Dayton in February!!!1 point
