Meh. That piece, like much of what the TFA publishes, is the opinion of John Harris. While John has done a fantastic job of championing firearms rights over the years, I take what they publish with a grain of salt and read it through the lens of being one man's opinion. An opinion that the one man believes should be yours as well. The last statement of that article strikes me as being the reason it was written: Bill Lee hasn't done anything wrong yet from a Second Amendment perspective and former Sheriff Jeff Long, now Lee's Commissioner of Homeland Defense, was an extremely pro gun-ownership Sheriff for as long as I've lived in Williamson County. Until either one of them make a move to restrict our rights, the worst the TFA can accuse them of is not expanding them... and Lee has only been in office for a ONE DAY as of this writing. Do I think the TFA is worthy of your financial support? Sure. Do I need a fear-mongering OpEd to make me cut them a check? No. But I guess some people do. Honestly, a more economical and far more effective way for you to ensure that Bill Lee doesn't trample the Second Amendment is to email, write, call, and visit him in person and tell him how important it is to you. We, as gun owners, need to stop outsourcing this to organizations like the TFA, NRA, GOA, etc. We need to evangelize the message ourselves and be serious about it. Elected representatives fear or respect their constituents far more than they care about organizations who claim to represent them. What's louder? One large voice or the storm of thousands of voices?5 points

Long story short, this particular hawk has been visiting us for just over a year. I've spent all that time trying to get a decent photo & this ain't it......yet. It's managed to thwart 4 different trail cameras & me sitting for 4 straight, 14 hour days in a blind. I dumped a deer carcass out in one of my fields a few days ago with hopes of getting some trail cam photos of coyotes & lo and behold, guess who shows up the morning right AFTER the wind blew my trail camera off target...... This was taken from my dining room window, with my phone, through 10x binos4 points

I found this at the Jackson, TN gun show today. A Model 15-3 2". The gun is easily 98% with just a very light turn line. Timing, lock up, etc are perfect. The action is smooth as butter. It shows very little evidence of being fired. It has a nicely figured set of PC magna stocks on it. Serial number dates it to 1972. I added the T-grip once I got it home. The price was pretty good for this gun in this condition. $475 OTD. I don't really need it. It was an impulse buy just because I didn't have one. But I like it. The bad thing is that with the way our weather has been and current forecasts, it may be Spring before I get a chance to get to the range to try it out. I'm afraid my poor photography skills just don't do it justice. It looks much better in person.4 points

Undoubtedly so. The only way you would have read a positive prediction about Bill Lee from John Harris would have been if Lee descended from the clouds upon a carpet-sized copy of the Constitution, and was carried to his inauguration on the shoulders of the ghosts of James Madison and Thomas Jefferson while tossing 9mm ammo to the crowd like candy from a Mardi Gras parade float.3 points

Father in law is a collector, coolest one he has is a single hour hand model with a "hair" chain that runs around a drum. What is fascinating, is the linked chain was totally hand made. He also has a run of rail road watches.2 points

My old Elgin lever set is a gem. I wish modern watch makers would get the drift that the stem BELONGS at 3 and not at 12. It's just natural.2 points

Who’s going to watch the total lunar eclipse tonight? The skies in ET are currently clear but that can easily change in the next few hours before the main event.1 point

Not sure if that's something that is available commercially, I think both of the guys that I know made their own using old jet ski trailers. It's pretty easy to do though.1 point

I went today. Saw some very nice stuff and met a lot of neat people. Actually picked up an older but new never fired Italian made Beretta 92FS INOX at a good price. My carpenter buddy introduced me to several of the exhibitors. One who had a very nice display only of S&W and Colt revolvers. He actually has some stuff he will sell that he didn't have at the show. Meeting up with him next week on a couple of Smiths I don't have. And I joined the association. Not sure what thatgets me but wanted to support the organization. Very nice to go to a gun show that's all about guns (and some knives). Excellent event for me.1 point

My dad used to fish carp out of the river below a cannery when he was a kid. Back then the cannery dumped a lot of stuff in the river when cleaning out vats and such.He said they were really big and my manaw would cook them. My favorite to catch was always bluegill, though the little ones could be infuriating sometimes. We always pond or bank fished. We never had the funds for anything else. Heck I used a cane pole for creek fishing still back then.1 point

The intake pimp on a jet ski can draw rocks and junk off of the bottom at depths of up to 8 feet. That might get to be a problem in places that carp are normally found. Additionally, jet skis handle like crap at low speeds. I have a couple of buddies who are really serious into kayak fishing. Both have drive on kayak trailers so there is no lifting and pulling involved. One of them is powered by a 6hp outboard, it will do about 20mph.1 point

I used to watch people throw bread to huge carp at the Calhoun’s locations on the river in Knoxville and Lenoir City. I always day dreamed of tying a fly out of a big tuft of hares foot to resemble bread and trying them with my 8 weight fly rod.1 point

I don't own any but, they have always intrigued me. My grandpa always carried one. I think my uncle has his watches now. He had a 14k one with his initials engraved. I don't remember the brand.1 point

Because LEO needs to provide more remedial training? Watched a Paul Harrell video comparing 9 to 40. Very similar though the .40 appeared to have slightly better overall performance. -2 or 3 rounds better? Not sure, I'm pretty committed to 9 for EDC1 point

I think at least one of the two companies I mentioned might have already looked into a P320 grip module and might still do one. That's really all that I can say about that.1 point

I would have to say if the P320 X-series grip was formed like a PPQ or HK with a little more ergonomics it would not hurt my feelings. I think the frames you wish for may not be so far away, but by the time they get them out of R&D and into production there is already a new next big thing.1 point

The X-series grip modules are the only ones of the P320 family that would even remotely feel good to me. I tried a standard P320 and tried several different grip modules that were worked over by either myself or infinitely more skilled artisans with wood-burning tools. None of them felt good. All of them felt as ergonomic as a thick wooden axe handle made of plastic. Namely, you could get your hand around it but that was it. None of the other evolutionary improvements in handles that we've come to enjoy with firearms from other manufacturers. I liken the P320's grip to the Apple earbud earphones. Apple spent a ton of time coming up with a shape and size that was mathematically average enough that it would fit inside almost every ear on the planet. But it's also average enough that it doesn't fit any of them great or comfortably. Same for the P320 grip. It's blah.1 point

I've seen some videos of some jetski's set up for fishing, rod holders, the whole 9 yards, try google fu and see what happens. I think they were used for offshore/gulf fishing, maybe even traveled out to the oil rigs. Do you use a fly rod or regular baitcaster/spinning set up ???1 point

I enjoy newer stuff. Never got into vintage much, like bigger faces and the older stiff is almost all under 40 mm, but older Hamilton’s always intrigued me. Would like to see a pic of the Hammy.1 point

How come the toy packaging never shows two or more kids fighting and screaming for the toy? In my experience, that's much more likely than everyone being all smiles and giggles... Anyone have similar thoughts? I'd love to hear them.0 points

Agreed, but you chose the best of the currently available grips for the P320 too. The X-Compact has my eye if the grip feels good. I am still surprised that Magpul, Polymer 80, or some other big name in firearms plastics, hasn't already come out with a completely different grip module for the P320 chassis to slide into. Seems like there's a good business opportunity for someone! By the way, ice cream is a lousy grip material. Just saying.0 points
