I have no problem with HP. I have owned a C9, twice. Given the opportunity, I'd throw another in the safe. I'm interested to see what they come out with.2 points

I think he should do 10 years in prison and then get 10 years probation and never be able to drive again. Who here doesn't believe he will be behind the wheel within a week of his release???...............JMHO2 points

As I was cleaning up and clearing out some gear I came across a 10 round Glock magazine I had for my G21 ( that's 45 acp for you non-Glock people out there reading this! ) ... before I blew it up. A double charge of W231 (5.7 grs x 2= BOOM!), just in case you ever wondered. Again, it's a 10 round mag but I'd be happy to give it to a member of our community if they could make use of it. If not local, I'd ask you pay the shipping...USPS Priority Mail as I very rarely go to the Post Office and much prefer to just "Click-n-Ship". Just PM me and then I'll post to this thread.2 points

They should have made an SR2.0 and made a great gun better instead of coming out with more budget guns The American and the Security 9,two models Id never buy. I admit I like the LC/EC series if single stacks but the rest ,ill pass2 points

For 2019, Ruger has decided to cease production of the SR family of striker fired pistols. Personally, I think they made a big mistake. I guess they wanted to push the American but I think the SR would have done better if they released it in a "pro" model without the safety.1 point

I bought my first Henry based on the reputation of the Company. Before the first, I never thought I'd like a lever gun but I now have four Henry rifles.1 point

Initial thoughts: Grip texturing is great! I like how they used different textures for different parts of the grip. It's as if they spent some time thinking about it rather than just smearing the same texture all over. It really is the same size as Glock 19 or an M&P M2.0 9mm Compact and, for me, that is a good thing. With the larger of the two backstraps installed, as it came from the factory, the grip profile has a soft curve that a cover garment should drape across more gracefully and not be as "identifiable" as is with a Glock 19. The mag release on the 509M is easy to manipulate but not so easy that it could happen accidentally. Deep undercut on the trigger guard allows you to get a good, high grip on it. The polymer there has a super-fine texture that shouldn't agitate anyone but I may polish it to a mirror at some point. I prefer an undercut that is as smooth as glass. The stock sights are steel, which is good, but I prefer a very prominent front dot and no, or subdued, rear dots with a U-notch. I have a set of Trijicon HD sights on the way. The barrel is crowned, which is nice to see. I also noticed that the final half-inch (approximate) of the barrel right before the muzzle is a thousandth of an inch or so larger in circumference than the rest of the barrel's length. I assume this aids in accuracy much the way a bull-barrel in a 1911 does by providing a snug fit between the barrel's terminus and the portal that it passes through in the end of the slide. The slide release lever is a piece of cake to manipulate with either hand, unlike the M&P M2.0. The extractor is a monster and looks hella stout. The slide serrations, fore and aft, are perfect and exactly what I prefer on a fighting gun. The trigger is NOT BAD AT ALL! It's a bit heavy but seems to be lightening up and smoothing out a little as I dry fire it. I'll put a trigger gauge on it tomorrow. Wish I'd done that before dry firing it a hundred or so times, for comparison. Whoopsie. I doubt seriously that I will swap the trigger out for an Apex part. The OEM trigger seems just fine for me.1 point

I have an L.C. Smith 12 gauge, non-ejector, field grade made in 1912. Your serial number is actually a bit lower than mine. If yours is a 12 gauge it looks to have been made in 1910 according to Lt. Col. Brophy's book "L.C. Smith Shotguns". Mine was left to me by an old gentleman who hunted hard with it over his lifetime and it shows. It's as tight today as the day it was made and their old ads said it would stay that way due to its unique design. Yours appears to be in outstanding condition for its age. They are outstanding bird guns as I'm sure you know.1 point

I have HP pistols and carbines in both 9mm and .45ACP. Pistols are ugly but work fine, and I don't especially care if they get beat up. Good for tackle box, etc. Carbines are very fun to shoot. My family and friends seem to like shooting them way more than ARs. Just got a Ruger PC Carbine 9mm. Takes Glock mags. That's gonna be my carbine of choice. Can't wait to shoot it. I'm heading over to the Oak Ridge Sportsmen's Club this evening for new member orientation. If Ruger brings out the PC Carbine in 45ACP I'll probably get that too, and lose the HP carbines. If anyone would be interested in buying, please let me know.1 point

If your looking for an inexpensive 380 DA you need to look no further than a Bersa Thunder THUN380DT from Buds at a price of $246.00. All of the Bersa Thunders have 5 star ratings and I own 2 and never have issues with them at the range and they will eat just about any brand 380 ammo........JMHO1 point

Always good to see American gun manufacturers coming out with new guns.1 point

I'm not a fan of the Hi-Point line, but I must admit, they go bang and are not functionally bad. If they would but put a little more effort into the aesthetics of it, and maintain close to their price point it would eat into the market share of many other brands.1 point

Just a suggestion, but you could fill it out using the name and address of someone you hate. Maybe a troublesome ex or jerk boss? Maybe a politician! Then answer the questions to make them look like they're one sick puppy. I'm sure they'll appreciate the $10 when it comes.1 point

I didn't want the NRA to endorse a democratic candidate, so try not to construe such intent from my words. Bernie might have been the only palatable option, but that was before he had to tack all positions left, not just his economic theme. Once he crossed that Rubicon, he didn't deserve any endorsement. What I do want, is for the RKBA organizations to not tie themselves to a single party. When they do that, they run the risk of becoming effectively complacent as the politicians they stuck themselves with by default. Republicans have zero incentive to actually do anything on guns, because they know for a single issue voter on the topic, their lack of action is better than the Democrats want of action in the wrong direction...so nothing actually gets better, we just become falsely satisfied with "it could have been worse." Seriously, we had two years of express lane open for whatever could have been passed, with the presumption that a pro-gun court is in place for about a generation, but all we got was agency level work to take away bump stocks. That's like having a savings account with 0.25% interest when inflation is running 3%.1 point

Took her to the range today to rent some guns. Unfortunately, they did not have any Sig's or Walther's in .380, which surprised me since they are a Sig Master Dealer. They only had one Sig in their whole rental case. Nevertheless, we tried out the Ruger LCP and whatever the Kahr .380 is called. She HATED them. Easier to rack, sure, but she said the recoil was terrible and disliked the feel of the small guns. So then I rented some 9mm's and went over some of the techniques mentioned above. We rented a G19, XD9 compact, and SR9C. She was able to rack them all! Out of all 5 guns, and her previous experience with my M&P's, she decided that she liked the Ruger SR9C the best by far. Which was surprising to me, since I had never shot one before, but after trying it, I could see why she liked it. Fit well in the hand very well (we have smallish hands) and has a great trigger. The trigger pull was very short and light. Her ranking on the trigger was SR9C > M&P9 with Apex upgrades > Glock. No reset sensation whatsoever, but I could overlook that given the great feel otherwise. The sights are interesting, as it has a large front dot, and smaller rear dots, to draw attention to the front. I like that, but I shoot the best with no rear dots and she prefers that as well. So the final verdict is that we'll be looking to get an SR9C, after I find who has it in stock locally. The gun range said they don't get many in stock at their distributor because it is so popular. After purchase, next on the list is to improve her accuracy and trigger control lol.1 point

If your wife doesn't have a medical condition, then racking the slide is only a matter of training.1 point

Or, just get a revolver.. If she can't pull the slide on a semi-auto, she probably isn't going to be comfortable with it if she needs it. Get a revolver. Simple as point and shoot. She should be able to handle a .38 hopefully.1 point
