  1. No, my angered reaction is just to the way these stories spread like wildfire, with little to no verification of the facts, because it's the narrative that the mainstream media wants to propagate. I'm troubled by the society that my kids will be growing up in.

  2. To those of us who are relatively new to the shooting sports, as well as those of us who have short memories, Palmetto State Armory continues to send emails full of crazy cheap deals and free shipping on various parts, firearms, and ammunition. Those of us who have been at this a while can attest that this will not always be the case. My advice to you is to buy it cheap and stack it deep while the good times last.

  3. I can’t dispute how you feel about this situation or your expectation of a huge racial conflict. I’ll just give my opinion. As mentioned before, everyone involved should be dealt with in the harshest manner according to the law. Secondly, I also believe that media is now committed to the business of making news, regardless the outcome. Bad outcomes are better for media. Finally, I just can’t buy into the race war. People are always doing something that someone believes is going to ignite the powder keg. As I’ve recently gotten away from massive amounts of social media I’m finding that anticipation of a race war is mostly internet driven. Most people are really walking around blissfully ignorant, and they like it that way. At first it bothered me a lot( I still don’t like it), but it’s shown me that not everyone is arming themselves for Armageddon. Do I wish more people would pay attention to national and world events before they effect them, of course I do, but I also like the idea that not everyone is sitting at home soaking up negative and polarizing news while itching for a chance to kill fellow Americans just so they can say I told you it would happen. Good day!

  4. The media seems to have gone above and beyond to create a race war among us. They very well may succeed. It'll be hard to put that genie back in the bottle once it starts.

  5. This is what worries me. The media and a lot of people in government WANT us to be against each other. They despise the vision that leaders like Martin Luther King Jr. had for a country united where "color blindness" could reign supreme. My wife are working hard to ensure that our kids love people the way that Jesus loved people. We want them to be indifferent to a person's physical appearances and to make decisions based on the character of people's hearts. I dread the day when our kids encounter someone who doesn't look like them who tells them they hate them because they are white and because white people are guilty of "insert injustice here". My kids aren't being raised to be apologists; they are just being raised to be decent.

  7. Well, I loaned some bucks to my son so he could own one of these Voyagers and this is it. We put 20 rds of LC threw it and had to shut the gas hole off all together to get all the rounds threw the gun but that's not a surprise sine this early 2000 LC is on the weak side. As a matter of fact I got the rounds in trade for some work on a AR10T that absolutely refused to cycle this ammo. I did everything in the book to get the AR to run it and failed. He sold the AR. This FAL is very cleanly built as the pictures show. Weighs in at 8 lbs and 10 oz. The trigger was 10+ lbs and about 1.75 coils off the trigger spring brought it down to a usable 7.5 lbs. We just blasted some water out of the brook behind my garage so no accuracy test. It "looked" like a chrome bore but maybe the chamber mouth was just polished...idk. The only thing I'm not crazy about is the receiver latch lever is bottomed out. I like a little break in space on the latching lug but hey, it was still a relatively firm locked up. Clearly, this is the BEST thousand bucks you can spend at Aimsurplus.com on a battle rifle right now. Handles like a dream!

  8. A while back I posted a new purchase of mine at Buds of the Star BM9. A great buy for a all steel accurate mid size 9. Problem is spare mags are running about 35 bucks or more by the time you put shipping on them. I found that with a little tweeking, the Promag KAR 02 mags can run just fine in the BM. These 10 rounders need 2 things done to them to get them to work. 1) the body of the mag needs a very slight squeeze in a basic vise to reduce its thickness by about .008" . That will get the mag to be very nearly a drop free mag and still have a freely moving follower. 2) the slide stop step on the plastic follower needs about 1/16ths shaved off or else the slide will lock back with one round still in the mag. That's it. Center fire systems has these mags for $15.99 @ free shipping if you find $99 worth of an order. Who doesent like cheap for a play toy?

  11. I have that same thought as David and don't believe there was ever a white dude. They are either trying the throw the authorities in another direction or it is gang related and they are afraid to actually give them the names of the people doing the shooting. We will probably never know the real truth.

  14. I see two possibilities: 1 Mis-identification. 2. The family knew exactly who the shooter was and threw the police off on purpose so it could settled privately. I'm betting on #2. The great race war has been coming since the 1950s. I've been hearing about it my whole life. Ain't happened yet.

  15. No way would I take that bet. I would honestly be surprised if they came up with any white folks involved in this crime. But, I try to let our criminal justice system work through its process before I decide who's who and what's what. Sometimes that's hard. I also agree with LINKS2K that the media is in the business of news. While I'd like to think this was only a matter of them reporting what they were (truthfully or otherwise) told, I think there has become a greater desire on the part of the average news organization to be first rather than to be right. That's to our detriment, and completely aside from the exercises in axe grinding which so many media outlets on both ends of the political spectrum participate in these days. Also, I don't think any kind of race war is imminent. There's a lot of friction in our society these days, but people in general are too attached to what they have to risk it, and it would require too much effort from too many people. Which, I suppose, is a good thing in a way...

  17. It's possible that more than one person was involved in perpetrating this crime. (Say, a driver and a shooter. Maybe even one or more additional people along to ID the "target" and give the go-ahead.) So, likely or not, it's still possible that a white guy played some role. I hope everyone who helped carry it out receives the harshest sentence they qualify for.

  20. I had one but traded it shortly after picking it up. From what I remember it only took the Romeo, and no not all reflex sights use the same spacing/location of their mounting screws. There might be someone who makes a plate to mount other brand optics to the X5 though.

  21. I’ve carried a 1.0 Shield almost daily for 5 yrs. Shoot it often. Stock except for ameriglo yellow night sight. I have a safety on mine. Completely reliable, easily concealed. Remember as your round count increases so does the weight. There is a reason it is one of the top selling handguns.

  22. I'll be amazed if we have a Republican prez again for at least 8 years after this fiasco. And maybe not a Republican Triumvirate again for .. ever? The GOP will have to defend a lot more in the Senate in '20 than they did in '18, too, so we may well see the Dem Triple Play for the first time since Obama's first two years. Then again, I remind myself I didn't give DJT a chance in hell to win, eh? - OS

  24. How are you going to carry it? IWB/OWB holster? Pocket? Belly band? Ankle holster? I have a Glock 43 that I bought specifically for the rare occasion I need to pocket carry. The 43 is small enough for me to pull it off, but the Shield and PPS are a hair bigger and are a different category of guns, IMO. If you are doing anything but pocket carry, the Shield and PPS are fine guns. I despise the Shield (mainly because of its trigger), but that is purely personal. I have some experience with the PPS and I like them. Depending on your build, you can probably comfortably carry a gun bigger than any of these IWB most of the time. The about-to-be-released Glock 48 comes to mind. Some slim guys say "I can't carry IWB" but then some chubby guys say "I can't carry IWB." With the right holster and a reasonably sized gun, it's easier than many think.

  25. If people would only act like they had some sense, we wouldn't need police and judges. Sadly, this will never be the case. I don't like criminals, and am not fond of police or judges either. I only wish they'd all leave me alone.

  26. Welcome to TGO and to Tennessee! As for an AR... Quick correction, please: AR's are not assault rifles. Assault rifles are usually capable of burst or full auto firing and are made for the military. The modern sporting rifle called an AR made for the civilian population are actually Armalite rifles, based on the original manufactures name I believe. The ones mentioned in earlier posts or most any other flat top would be a good base to start with, adding optics, sights and other accessories as you decide what you need. Where in England are you from? I lived for several years in Suffolk, courtesy of the USAF. My youngest son has dual US/UK citizenship, and while not ALL countries recognize dual citizenship, of those that do, not with all other countries, Im fairly certain both the US and the UK do, in fact allow dual citizenship with each other.

  29. The thing that stinks about this kind of law besides making transfers between friends and family a pita, a secret gun registry and and an expense is.... Lets say you have a situation where your family member/spouse is getting suicidal/ homicidal or just acting crazy suddenly and you want to quickly remove a gun or two from the home. You can't just drop them off at a friends anymore. That would be illegal. What about a gun owner who travels for work or is in the Military and wants to leave guns with a family member? The gun grabbers don't give a crap about that, they just want the public disarmed at any cost. More laws, more hassle and threat of legal problems =less and less people wanting guns every year.

  30. I'm leaning against mandatory BG checks for private sales. What I would support, is free, voluntary, access to the BG system for those that chose to use it. No paperwork, no records, just a go or no-go. And I'm not willing to give up anything, to get back a right that was taken away, illegally IMO, in the past.

  32. If you are uncomfortable selling a firearm, then don't sell it. Problem solved. Nothing is stopping you from going to a gun shop and letting them handle the transfer, but don't force your feelings on me and my private transactions. Another alternative would be for the government to pay the transfer fee and the background check fee, since it is all for public safety, so the public should pay for it. Keep it within the licensed FFL's to do the transfer and fees, to minimize the chance of keeping an accessible gun registry. I may be agreeable to this IF and ONLY IF, we could get something back for it, like national carry permits, removing SBRs and silencers from the NFA, etc.....

  34. All my 9mms seem light, but the best shooting one IMO is my Browning Hi Power. It just rocks in my hand and comes back down on target. It's just a single action but I've actually carried it a few times, locked and loaded of course.

  37. The only way this works is to have a national registry and track who owns what. That is it. Otherwise how would anyone know who is SUPPOSED to have what and be able to enforce it if you gave or sold something to someone without doing the check ? Otherwise there is no mechanism to know if someone sold something to someone without doing a check. We need to make it known that if you support Universal background checks you are supporting universal gun registration...period. I fear at some point one monkey who has had enough is going to stand up and say "No" and others will join him all hell will break loose... (For those not tracking that "monkey" reference.... that is what Cornelius (in Escape From the Planet of the Apes (IIRC) ) said was how the Simian revolution started...one day one monkey (Ceasar) had enough of being told what to do by humans and stood up and said "NO" when ordered to do something.....
