Merry Christmas to all. How can you not love TGO? We're like one big dysfunctional family. We fuss and fume amongst ourselves and are looked over by David and Mac and the rest of the crew who make sure we don't mess our beds too badly. I just wanted to take a moment to thank the moderating crew and everyone who's contributed to the discussion this year. I want to wish everyone a happy holiday and I hope everyone finds some joy in the season. I'll have a drink for all and hope you do the same for me.4 points

Well, another year has come and gone and I find myself wondering about the future. Sometimes I feel we are doing great, then I see something happening that convinces me we are going straight to hell at top speed with no brakes. Then I read the content here and realize the caliber of men and women here and see some hope. There is goodness still in this world and it lives on TGO. I see the friendship, the love of God and county, and the sacrifice made by some to keep us all safe. I see belief and faith in God expressed freely and openly in times when it is not always PC to do so. I see and am amazed at the help, love, and concern freely given from member to member, usually without the need to ask. I see the compassion given in times of pain. I see congratulations given in times of joy. All this and so much more. I feel truly blessed to be here, not just on this world and this country, but in the midst of good men. Men I strive to emulate and deserve the friendship of. Lastly, I feel grateful to know and be known by men who expressed concern for me in my prolonged absence recently. For friends like MacGuyver, Steelharp, Bersaguy, TrickyNicky, Kharman, gothegoods, TrippleGGG, prag, and gregintn, just to name a very, very few of the good people here that I can call friend. Yes, I am blessed with a loving, caring, and good wife, who puts up with me and my antics. A family though widespread, that accepts me as I am. A home and reasonably good health. A future that many in this world would envy, and so very much more. So to family, friends, my TGO family, all our military, and first responders, to those who stand in harm's way for others... I wish us all the Merriest of Christmas's and Happy New Year's. May God continue to Bless us and our nation. Amen.2 points

I hope everyone has a great day, whatever your definition of "great" is. Whether it be the loud insanity that family can be sometimes ( I have multiples of those to attend) or the quiet peaceful reflection of a good meal and a good book. I joined just over 2 years ago and found just what I was looking for, a source of gun knowledge and trading. I also found friends that I did not expect. Thanks for both. At my house, the stockings are hung on the bookshelf and Santa has filled them. So now it is time crawl into bed before the all-out white knuckle rocket ride between houses starts tomorrow. Merry Christmas!1 point

Thank you my friend. Since I rarely have any alcohol, I'll have to toast you with a Dr. Pepper. Merry Christmas to you, Raoul.1 point

Maybe they are a little higher in Nashville, but I have seen several for $399 plus fees on shelves around Chattanooga. If you buy online you can get close to $399 OTD.1 point

Although I personally might have kept the HiPoint, I do see the reasoning in your Taurus purchase. I have several Taurii (lol) and have been chastised over them for years. I have absolutely no problems with them. Got into them when they were dirt cheap and it was all I could afford. I don't regret any of them. I did have to send a Tracker 22 back after I bought it. Accuracy was totally non-existant with it. I sent it back and was sent a new pistol in about 3 weeks. That was about 2008, and the replacement has been fine. Good luck with yours.1 point

Most of my mags are factory or Wilson. I don't want to waste time and money on the cheap mags available.1 point

Yes, this was an Heirloom Precision gun, featured at SHOT Show (around 2009ish?) It has a matching Colt revolver, knife, and full exotic leather holster set. I sold the complete set to Pete Brownell (of Brownell's fame) several years ago. It's certainly one I wish I had kept in my collection.1 point

First off, I'm new here, and this is my first post. I think with most any manufacturer, (Tisas or anyone else), you can get a good product, and you can also get a POS. And cost alone in itself does not control that. And this includes a lot of top American manufacturers. Anyone remember the S&W Sigma, or the Colt All American 2000? Or some of the dog POS pistols Ruger has put out over the years? A big part of the problem today are all of the blogs and You Tube "experts" out there, many of which wouldn't know a good weapon if they had one in their hand. They wind up putting a LOT of bad information out there. Back to Tisas. Using myself as an example, I recently purchased a Tisas Regent BR-9 Stainless Steel Hi-Power clone from Brownell's. It has proven to be an excellent, high quality pistol thus far. Excellent machining with very few tool marks inside both the frame and slide. And very good slide to frame fit. And a very good trigger. Especially considering the gun has a magazine safety, which is known to increase the trigger pull on Hi-Power's. The gun digested 400 rounds of 4 different types of 9 MM ammunition without a single FTF or FTE. And that included 100 rounds of Federal 9BPLE +P+ Hollow Points. With that said I did purchase the Tisas BR-9 Essential Reliability Kit from BH Spring Solutions. It give you an extra extractor, firing pin retaining plate, as well as all the necessary springs and roll pins to replace them. I have 2 other Browning Hi-Powers, and it can never hurt to have extra parts available. But as of yet they have not been needed. I know 400 rounds isn't a tell all, but it's a damn good start. So as is the case with most manufacturers, it really isn't fair to judge them on a single product. https://bhspringsolutions.com/tisas-br9-hi-power-/358-tisas-br9-hi-power-essential-kit.html And After 400 Rounds1 point

I think a lot of countries issued the FAL with BHPs. Those were the ubiquitous military firearms of the 50s, 60s, 70s and 80s.1 point

Tanker bought a Tisa. Didn't like it. Posted a bunch of stuff. Got banned later for some other stuff (unrelated). Now every time the date equals Pi x (the previous days stock market gains) divided by @TGO David's post count, someone comes and resurrects this thread. If it were possible I would mark it on my calendar, but it is an unexpected event:) I hope it never gets locked. I hope it lasts forever.1 point
