  3. It was, in my home state. Where I possess a CCDW. In my home state, a CCDW exempts me from the background check as it is run monthly. As such the CCDW in my home state is considered more stringent than that of other states, such as Tennessee. *EDIT* I suppose it is fair to acknowledge this, it might not be obvious. I was raised in Tennessee and left several years ago. I am one of but a few members who maintain a regular membership while living out of state. TGO is by far and away on of the best firearms communities I belong to, as such I have remained a regular posting member after my departure from the state. Reading this, I assumed that most commentators of the thread would understand that. I am sorry if it is lost. I live in KY, I possess a CCDW in KY, I attempted the purchase in KY.

  4. I think it just shows a lack of character. Sometimes a fella has to take a stand and what Dicks did showed a complete lack of character. They wanted our money until they had to make a stand. Spineless b@$+@rds.

  6. I submitted Deer Camp Cash rebate that started this thread off on 11/12. Received a Qualified notification on 11/26. Other than that status still shows as processing. Submitted the Black Pack rebate on 11/25. Qualification shows as Pending Review.

  7. That was my thought, sounds like a trap. Then again, it's the ATF, the rules are made up and the laws don't matter

  8. In the past, ammo rebates I've filled out usually took from 6 weeks to 6 months to pay off. Eventually, all of them have paid up though ...

  11. Look at the air quality in that dump. Nothing like breathing pure lead. The more I read about Brazil the more I'm convinced I'll never visit.

  13. You can chain up to 4 of the Nomad 7s. One is good for charging small handheld devices like phones, headlamps, etc. It only outputs 1A so it won't charge larger items like tablets. Or if it will, it would take a loooong time. I don't know what effect chaining them has on the output. Check with GoalZero's site for details if that interests you. They also have larger models. I'd probably use mine to keep my battery packs topped up and then use the battery packs to charge the devices. I have an Anker PowerCore 10000 (10000mAh) that does 2.4v output. That's enough to charge an iPad and the new iPhones, but not as quickly as the new Apple fast chargers. I get about 5 1/2 full charges of an iPhone 6 out of it. An iPhone X would get about 4 full charges.

  15. I'm just trying to test to see what the deviation from cold to warm shots will be. My Stainless .223 Wylde AR-15 has about 1.0" - 1.5" deviation from cold to warm shots (all shots thereafter are very good at 0.50" or less). I just built an AR-10 in .308 Win with a Faxon Nitrite barrel; I am hoping the "cold shots" will end up being a lot closer than they are with my AR-15. On my AR-15, I was using Iron Sights at 25 meters on an M-16, 300 Meter Zero Target I was getting around 1.0" to 0.30" groupings from my 1:8 SS .223 Wylde 18" barrel. Widest group was with 55 grain ammo Norma Tac Ammo, and the tightest group was with 69 grain PPU Match ammo. 75 grain seemed to be less accurate, but that is probably my bad eyes. It was an indoor range and poor lighting with my astigmatism eye balls... so I think I need some kind of optic to shoot more consistently. I just bought a 4-14x44 ACSS Scope from Primary Arms. I am hoping this will help also.

  16. Having visited 3 different locations, I've browsed once and attempted to buy twice. On both occasions, I gave up. The wait time to never be acknowledged or served was not worth the pennies I could have saved. Shame too, because they have a lot of good quality products available.

  17. Sometimes price isn't everything. I have a shop I deal with that is more than reasonable but not always the least expensive. Just saying......

  18. Sorry guys, I haven't been on the internet much lately. Too much political hatred for me. We'd be moving from Nevada, which is turning into East California.

  19. I run into a similar issue when I load test a new round. Basically, I fire one round of a known load for a "base line POI", dry patch the rifle, walk to the target to mark the shot (200m), and walk back. By the time I get back to the bench the barrel is within 10 degrees of cold temp and I start with my test string using the same technique for each round. I typically shoot 8-12 test rounds loaded in 1/2 grain increments and at the end of the string the barrel is never more than 30 degrees warmer than when I started. At the end I fire one more round of the original known load to verify POI hasn't changed and I'm done. I have found that (in my rifles at least) there is no measurable change in POI between the first "base line" round to the last POI verification round. Now having said all that, I'm an old codger so it takes me about 5-6 minutes to walk to the target and back, you young whippersnappers probably just run it in a minute or two! Seriously, five minutes between shots will be plenty of cool down time unless you are leaving the rifle in the hot sun on a hot summer day.

  20. Get yourself one of those infrared thermometers and check the temp inside the bore. When it's back down close to ambient, you are ready for the second shot. Also be sure to clean the bore between rounds.

  25. A quick search showed that this took place in Brazil. The range floor was coated with engine oil to keep termites from eating it, and unburned powder.
