Sgt. Leo Stokley, USMC - Vietnam is an unclaimed veteran, with no known family. Stokely lived in Murfreesboro, and died last weekend. He is set to be buried at Middle Tennessee Veterans Cemetery in Pegram tomorrow, Friday morning at 10. I understand the Patriot Guard Riders are trying to get a crew together to stand in for family. But, if you’re in the area tomorrow, the Veteran’s Cemetery is a beautiful place - and all our Vietnam vets ought to have someone remember them.5 points

Put the money in a savings account, maintain and drive the truck well, and pay for repairs yourself (there probably won't be many if any). I replaced a transfer case, front differential, and heads on an 02 Silverado and didn't spend that much money! Extended warranties are designed to take advantage of folks who aren't good at managing money.2 points

On November 29, 1990, the U.N. Security Council authorized the use of “all necessary means” of force against Iraq if it did not withdraw from Kuwait by the following January 15. By January, the coalition forces prepared to face off against Iraq numbered some 750,000, including 540,000 U.S. personnel and smaller forces from Britain, France, Germany, the Soviet Union, Japan, Egypt and Saudi Arabia, among other nations. Iraq, for its part, had the support of Jordan (another vulnerable neighbor), Algeria, the Sudan, Yemen, Tunisia and the Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO). Early on the morning of January 17, 1991, a massive U.S.-led air offensive hit Iraq’s air defenses, moving swiftly on to its communications networks, weapons plants, oil refineries and more. The coalition effort, known as Operation Desert Storm, benefited from the latest military technology, including Stealth bombers, Cruise missiles, so-called “Smart” bombs with laser-guidance systems and infrared night-bombing equipment. The Iraqi air force was either destroyed early on or opted out of combat under the relentless attack, the objective of which was to win the war in the air and minimize combat on the ground as much as possible. Did you know? In justifying his invasion of Kuwait in August 1990, Saddam Hussein claimed it was an artificial state carved out of the Iraqi coast by Western colonialists; in fact, Kuwait had been internationally recognized as a separate entity before Iraq itself was created by Britain under a League of Nations mandate after World War I. In addition to Hussein’s incendiary speech, Iraq had begun amassing troops on Kuwait’s border. Alarmed by these actions, President Hosni Mubarak of Egypt initiated negotiations between Iraq and Kuwait in an effort to avoid intervention by the United States or other powers from outside the Gulf region. Hussein broke off the negotiations after only two hours, and on August 2, 1990 ordered the invasion of Kuwait. Hussein’s assumption that his fellow Arab states would stand by in the face of his invasion of Kuwait, and not call in outside help to stop it, proved to be a miscalculation. Two-thirds of the 21 members of the Arab League condemned Iraq’s act of aggression, and Saudi Arabia’s King Fahd, along with Kuwait’s government-in-exile, turned to the United States and other members of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) for support.2 points

Today I stopped by Walmart in need of 30-06 as I don’t want to break into my stash of HXP M2 ball held in reserve to feed the Garand. They have Federal Power-Shock 150 gr SP for $11.97/box. Cheapest they sell so that’s what I wanted. Looked it up later to see what I bought and it appears Federal is running a $5 per box rebate. Score. It might take three months to get that $10 back but when it’s all said and done that’s a mighty fine price for ammo. I’m cheap like that.1 point

Hello! I've lived in TN for one year ago today and I have yet to regret my decision but I'll start from the beginning. About a year and a half ago I visited my close friend for the first time in 2 years. I stayed a week and fell in love with the state. I particularly loved the drive down through southern VA and east TN the most. When I got back home I started looking for jobs and places go live. Barely a month later I accepted a job in Johnson City and transferred south. Most people don't understand how bad NY is until you transition to a free state. You may have heard the stories first or second hand but I have lived it. I'm only 25 so I haven't known anything but the state we know now. My dad remembers when it was blue from his childhood, but not me! Promptly moving down here I picked up my first pistol, then my second, and now I have 4. I also bought my first AR. In NY I was saving up for a build but barrels have to have threading cut off so I decided to wait. I am VERY interested in getting into competitions and steel shoots. All I've been doing is going to state ranges and it seems like the big 3 gun and PRS ranges are closer to Nashville.1 point

I have worked with many of them, i have even worked for the Nissan backed one in house. Some are great, some are garbage. It is most important to remember, its not actually a “warranty”, its a Service Contract. So follow the words of the contract well. There are things that it will cover, and many things it flat out wont. It will all be spelled out in the terms of the contract. Also make sure you are keeping records of maintenance. If you went to the GM of Murfreesboro, most likely they sold you a Total Warranty Services (company) contract. it is a company owned by AMSI which is the same company that owns that dealership. While I cant whole heartedly endorse that dealerships service department, that service contract company is pretty good to deal with.1 point

It's a great deal for the dealer if you never use it. It's a great deal for the consumer if they do use it, moderate repairs start at $500 and even better if an electronic component fails. Kinda like insurance unless you've got the correct change to self insure. The key is buy the right terms for your driving habits. A 5 year 50k is great, but I'll be out of warranty in 2 years, so I need miles, not time.A person who drives 10k year may be better off with more time vs. miles. Buy the most comprehensive coverage available, power train / power train plus is a joke - most cars don't have drivetrain failures, its all the accessories!1 point

I am knowledgeable. Rates adjust by vehicle, mileage on the vehicle, coverage and term. 2000-3500 for a good service contract (factory like) is not unreasonable. You should be able to extend your GM or purchase a CNA (about the best non factory and private label for some mfg'ers) Service inspection, probably $150 to avoid the "pre existing" issue. I've got virtually all the franchise dealers from Athens to Trigger Cities as clients, let me know if I can refer you!1 point

I've always heard these warranties are always a better deal for them, than they are for you. There is a reason the dealer pushes them so hard.1 point

I've seriously been thinking about sbring one with times like this. I'm still at 9 months on a couple cans which seems crazy to me if they can do it in two weeks e-filing. Good luck!1 point

Liberty and Mental Health are problems. I dealt with it first hand as a Police Officer. Our state had no way to hold a person that had not committed a crime. We could try to talk them into voluntary commitment and in some cases where they had committed a minor offense we could give them the choice of voluntary commitment or being arrested. But if we arrested them the County jail wanted them out as soon as possible because they didn’t want the responsibility or the cost of a mental case. I don’t think you can stop people from taking out a gun and killing people anywhere. The best you can hope for is someone has the ability and the desire to stop the attack. Mental health people can’t see into the future. The shooter is the sole person responsible; no one else.1 point

Larry is doing ok. He has had some health problems and computer problems. I spoke to him a couple of weeks ago and he said once he gets his computer problems fixed he will start showing up more often.1 point

looks well made, not sure if its an 80s or 70s series ....I like it BUT I hate two tone 1911s.. I can buy a brand like DW which has more features including bevels and crown work and have a grand left over or Les Baer and have something with a legendary name1 point

I don't listen to a lot of music but when I do it is something that has feeling to it and reminds me of things in my life. Last one I listened to was the one below.1 point

This is the same thing we’d suggest if your husband joined looking for a gun for you.1 point

I used a variety of rounds, mostly its what was available and worked when I was "qualifying" that particular pistol. I've got Gold Dots in one, Federal somethingorother in another, and a coupe versions of Hornady in others. I'm less concerned with bullet terminal performance than I am with reliable function and accuracy (which is me, not the gun).1 point
