Larry is doing ok. He has had some health problems and computer problems. I spoke to him a couple of weeks ago and he said once he gets his computer problems fixed he will start showing up more often.6 points

Liberty and Mental Health are problems. I dealt with it first hand as a Police Officer. Our state had no way to hold a person that had not committed a crime. We could try to talk them into voluntary commitment and in some cases where they had committed a minor offense we could give them the choice of voluntary commitment or being arrested. But if we arrested them the County jail wanted them out as soon as possible because they didn’t want the responsibility or the cost of a mental case. I don’t think you can stop people from taking out a gun and killing people anywhere. The best you can hope for is someone has the ability and the desire to stop the attack. Mental health people can’t see into the future. The shooter is the sole person responsible; no one else.3 points

Sgt. Leo Stokley, USMC - Vietnam is an unclaimed veteran, with no known family. Stokely lived in Murfreesboro, and died last weekend. He is set to be buried at Middle Tennessee Veterans Cemetery in Pegram tomorrow, Friday morning at 10. I understand the Patriot Guard Riders are trying to get a crew together to stand in for family. But, if you’re in the area tomorrow, the Veteran’s Cemetery is a beautiful place - and all our Vietnam vets ought to have someone remember them.2 points

Either I or “House Democrats” don’t fully understand how this whole legislation thing coupled with math works.2 points

Thought I might mention that this Saturday I'll be going to SW Virginia to attend a grave marking by the Sons of the American Revolution and Daughters of the American Revolution for my 5th great grandfather on my mom's side Robert "Robin" Vicars. He served in Lord Dunmore's War in 1774 against the Shawnee and Mingo and then in the Revolution. He came to America from England as an indentured servant and made the most of opportunities in the new world. He is buried on his farm in Russel County VA. His daughter Molly married Joseph H Gilbert - the son of another Revolutionary War veteran from Virginia (Joseph Hiram Gilbert) and after much "begetting" down through the Gilbert line to my mom, I was the product. So if any of you happen to be Sons of the American Revolution headed for a grave marking ceremony in SW VA on Saturday I will see you there....1 point

Should not have searched on there. Apparently I need to get another safe for a rifle of mine, which needs motion and heat capabilities. sheesh1 point

If Franklin is viewed as "gone to the left" I hate to think how one would view metro Nashville and Memphis. Franklin is hardly left leaning. Only 2 precincts in Williamson County voted majority in favor of Bredesen who might be viewed individually as a true moderate Dem ( not withstanding how he might have voted up in DC once in the clutches of the party leadership). You are right things are changing... but it will be another decade or more before the demographics and population density favor left leaning social agenda. The lack of Republicans acting like real Republicans instead of RINO's, at the state and national level, is doing as much damage as the demographic changes to those with true conservative and libertarian leanings.1 point

If that were a consideration, it would have been much better if you had started with a different rifle1 point

nope, Sandy Hook occurred in 2012, the house was taken in 2010 by the republicans. The republicans gained seats in the senate but the dems where still in control. So yes, if they had all three, there would be a price to pay.1 point

Military one of the few professions trained to use guns, so it's always relevant in that sense I guess. If he were merely a carry permit holder, that gets played up in similar vein. Plus, both are supposed to be the good gun guys, so always a bitter irony there too. - OS1 point

Oh no doubt. I suspect that nothing will get done. I don’t see them passing anything Trump agrees with; no matter what it is. I don’t see how they will even get a budget through. Things are different than they were before.1 point

While there is not much they can get passed, it will be interesting, frightening perhaps, to see the bills they throw up against the wall. It will also show what is going to happen when they get total control of Congress and the Presidency.1 point

I'm amazed those people fired that cannon with only one form of ear protection. I remember having to double up that day. Good times were had all around though.1 point

One sold at auction last year for $14500, so this one's not likely to hold that distinction anytime soon ... And the one mentioned above is just the highest-known public price - there are others out there that have gone higher still, in private sales ...1 point

Same here. Veterans Day, and especially Memorial Day have always been quiet times of contemplation for me. The last thing on my mind is scoring a free meal.1 point

Welcome to Tennessee. In the words of the immortal Lewis Grizzard, "Come on down here. Breathe our air. Eat our food. Marry our women. There's just one thing we ask of you - don't tell us how you used to do it back in Brooklyn."1 point
