  1. @Grand Torino posted for sale 3 Bowie fighters recently. I think some might still be available, but here’s the one he did for me. The sheath, like the others, was made by @1911alltheway. It’s completely amazing.

  2. 3. I was incorrect, Laser sight are patchwork banned by different counties and cities all around, I just remembered my BIL reminding me to remove mine before my christmas trip up there last year. Seriously though, he's an attorney working for a county DA up there and can't keep the laws straight, no clue how the general populace visiting or traveling around is supposed to. . .

  4. http://www.handgunlaw.us/states/illinois.pdf ^That has all the current laws and court decisions I've seen on IL carry. Keep in mind that there are mag/ammo/firearm restrictions in several areas surrounding chicago. Those local laws are being revised/changed frequently from what I've seen so check any you may drive through(or may wish to drive around), also laser sights are still banned statewide IIRC.

  5. I'm glad you like the sheath. You have a gorgeous knife there. Its always a challenge to make a sheath to compliment GTs knives.

  7. Well I am into several weeks now carrying this LCPII in my front pocket and I gotta tell you that it is so comfortable that it is making a "lazy carrier" out of me. It makes me want to carry it rather than my usual Glock 30 or my other double stack guns on a belt holster or inside the pant holster. I'm gonna put another box of ammo through it this week . I really like it so far. When I got it I was between a Glock 36 and this LCPII just to buy with some extra money from my other job as a fun gun , I hated to risk the previous failures of the 36 so I got this LCP II. Worked out great . Galco makes a leather pocket holster which I like but they want like $60 for it so I'll stick with the DeSantis Super Fly . I like leather for the sake of having leather but the DeSantis is purely function which is great ! A perfect combination in my opinion and experience.

  8. We work with the homeless weekly from November through March - providing hospitality, feeding, and actually spending the night in a church building with them. Socks, underwear, and chemical hand warmers are by far the items that are sought after the most.

  9. What about a Kentucky CCDW? My daughter is going up for a field trip at the first of November. I will not be chaperoning, but I will be 'in town/visiting friends.' I want her to be free and independent. With a mean, tattooed, overprotective safety net. Chitown proper.

  12. This seems the most doable, and the industry probably needs a banking arm as much as anything at the moment. As much money as there is in the gun community (companies and rich folks who could come on as investors for an ownership share), they could probably startup a 2A Credit Union, and run it for the benefit of gun manufacturing & sales companies. They would have to be a bit tighter on the flow of capital, and offer reasonable, not VC or hedge fund rates of returns for shareholders and customers. Keeping their nose out of the banking sector in general by sticking to a fixed savings and loan model would be a nice insulation technique, but the first time someone greedy has enough power, that would be a risk. Honestly, the NRA should look at this as their survive the next 20yrs project, and set it up while the political cover and regulatory path is there via Trump holding the White House. They have the best chance to match up the needed parties and get it off the ground.

  13. You can’t carry, but you can have a loaded gun in your car (With a valid Tennessee HCP on your person) What I remember about Knives is sketchy, because Chicago (and some of the other cities up in that area) has their own knife laws. I think you can have a pocket knife with a blade under 2.5”. (2.5 For City of Chicago, 3” for the state). You can’t have an auto knife. They passed legislation awhile back that allows it for those with a FOID card, but I don’t think there is anything allowing out of state folks to carry one.

  14. I think your info is outdated Ronald. I believe Verne has the right of it. I think @DaveTN probably knows better than most of us. I think he’s up there fairly regularly.

  15. I am pretty sure my HCP class said the gun and ammo must be stored seperately in the vehicle out of your reach. Looks like knives over 3 inches are a no-no. Take this with a grain of salt. I never plan to go to IL because of their crazy laws. I just looked it up.

  16. Main reason to go with a 300BO is that the penalty in muzzle energy is less with short barrels. Goes along with the difference in muzzle blast.

  18. Then don’t do it. Everything is application driven, firearm type, caliber, sight system, etc. If a pistol caliber AR meets your application needs; go for it. It won’t meet the need for why I want a rifle. Mine is not readily accessible in the passenger compartment. But if the reason I am carrying it presents itself, I will have time to deploy it. I’ve even kicked around the idea of using a scoped AR10. If all you want is a long barreled pistol I think there are several carbines in pistol caliber that are pretty cheap. Grab a Gun has the Ruger PC Carbine with a 10 & 33 round mag for $479

  19. We already have a 2017 Highlander that we like very much. Need to replace a 2011 Honda Accord. The Accord has been a great vehicle but we need an vehicle that is easier to get into (we are in our 70's with health issues). Don't want another vehicle quite as big as the Highlander and that costs as much. Thanks for the replys so far.

  20. I've got an AR pistol with a 7.5 in 5.56mm, with a brace. I love it. It's gas piston operated, more accurate than I am, runs great and is a fine weapon (Sig). I want to get a car safe to keep it in the car when i am, but have not found the right one yet. I have read much though, about how .300 Blackout is better suited to short barrels than is 5.56mm. So there's that.

  21. Key lock safes are perfectly fine. You don't leave your gun in the safe when you're driving; you keep the gun easily accessible. The safe is for storing the gun when you can't carry it on you and have to leave it in the vehicle. As soon as you get back to the vehicle, you take the gun out of the safe.

  23. First off, I'm new here, and this is my first post. I think with most any manufacturer, (Tisas or anyone else), you can get a good product, and you can also get a POS. And cost alone in itself does not control that. And this includes a lot of top American manufacturers. Anyone remember the S&W Sigma, or the Colt All American 2000? Or some of the dog POS pistols Ruger has put out over the years? A big part of the problem today are all of the blogs and You Tube "experts" out there, many of which wouldn't know a good weapon if they had one in their hand. They wind up putting a LOT of bad information out there. Back to Tisas. Using myself as an example, I recently purchased a Tisas Regent BR-9 Stainless Steel Hi-Power clone from Brownell's. It has proven to be an excellent, high quality pistol thus far. Excellent machining with very few tool marks inside both the frame and slide. And very good slide to frame fit. And a very good trigger. Especially considering the gun has a magazine safety, which is known to increase the trigger pull on Hi-Power's. The gun digested 400 rounds of 4 different types of 9 MM ammunition without a single FTF or FTE. And that included 100 rounds of Federal 9BPLE +P+ Hollow Points. With that said I did purchase the Tisas BR-9 Essential Reliability Kit from BH Spring Solutions. It give you an extra extractor, firing pin retaining plate, as well as all the necessary springs and roll pins to replace them. I have 2 other Browning Hi-Powers, and it can never hurt to have extra parts available. But as of yet they have not been needed. I know 400 rounds isn't a tell all, but it's a damn good start. So as is the case with most manufacturers, it really isn't fair to judge them on a single product. https://bhspringsolutions.com/tisas-br9-hi-power-/358-tisas-br9-hi-power-essential-kit.html And After 400 Rounds

  25. I have one I built, I do run a blade brace, have a 10.5" 300blk upper and a 7.5" 5.56 upper. I don't have a can for either but the right muzzle device for your configuration can make a huge difference. As a couple others have mentioned I like having the ability of the rifle caliber in a portable package that I can keep in my truck or a backpack when traveling. I have a pistol to fight my way back to my truck gun....wouldn't be any point if I was fighting my way to another pistol caliber (IMO).

  26. Nope, it was because the "normal" car already has the vast majority of the "police" upgrades from 20 years ago. It already meets the "police endurance" specs, hence the 100k miles of the past is 300k miles today. Police cars don't have bigger brakes because modern brakes are huge and there isn't room for anything bigger. They don't have "heavy duty" cooling systems because the normal car is designed to sit idling for hours and not over-heat. They don't have high output alternators because the normal car already has one. The base electrical loads have increased tremendously over the years.

  27. Lol, you all have no idea what I have been through with this I am a dealer for Ramon Chaves who builds some of the best custom knives in the USA, recently he outsourced his design to Reate a Chinese company I have had TONS of people emailing me and asking for his outsourced knives, like I tell all of the clients who asks, I will not sell knives made in China no matter who designs them
