Memphis news has the details we gun people need. It was a shipment from the Ruger factory in NC, primarily of .22’s and .380’s, to Dallas. Second perp has been caught. https://wreg.com/2018/10/02/sources-350-guns-stolen-in-memphis-intercepted-on-way-to-chicago/4 points

I can pretty much guarantee that I won't install Tapatalk on TGO ever again. Not only was it an immense hindrance when it came time to update our software, but on at least one forum software it was found to be accessing users' private messages and sending private messages and spamming them for advertisers within the Tapatalk network that weren't advertising on any particular forum. We just won't tolerate that.4 points

Geographic dispersity is a problem on this board. Who wants to spend a day and fuel to save some bucks? Not sure what folks opinions are on my pricing is, though OP seems to imply I'm fairly priced which I intended. I put minimal time into researching each items resale admittedly. If someone wants something or wants to make an offer cool, if not I'll wait till someone does. We are looking to make a life change which would require me to find someplace to store my weapons and frankly I don't trust anyone with my ####. (says Francis) so I figure I'll sell and pick up again later if God permits. The bumping is ridiculous. I've tried to minimize mine but if someone believes I've been gratuitous, please adjust my reality. As far as the market, it is cyclical like everything in life. Ride the wave...3 points

Shooting in my backyard was high on my list of wants when we were looking for a place. I found a great place, only 7.5 acres but have nearly 800' of property line shared with the Cherokee National forest in an area that has no development or trails. I have just a small range out to 35 yards and can shoot off my back deck with a natural dirt bank for a backstop. I limit how much I shoot really loud guns and have never had any complaints from neighbors. I have asked a few if I make to much noise and they say they seldom notice. Everyone I know on the road have guns and several others have ranges on their property. One neighbor is roughing in a 100-300 yard range depending on where his wife talks him into putting their new house, I have already been invited to use it. Life is good.1 point

This is a horrible situation, but I have a beef with how the media is presenting it. Calling it an active shooter when it seems to be someone opening fire on police executing a warrant is misleading. So far it does not seem like this guy walked in somewhere asnd started shooting. Yes he was actively shooting, but not in the way most associate the "active shooter" label. It is just to push the buzz word button.1 point

No worries. You only cheated yourself; not us. Sounds like you made some other guy happy, however. If you were in the same time zone as me, I'd gladly let you come over and shoot one...or several.1 point

I had a old Western Auto .22lr single shot that was made with the loading tray. Not sure of the real brand name. It is workable because of the .22lr length.1 point

Oh how I love the 99's! Shot my first deer in 1978 with a model 1895 chambered in .303 Savage. Every store that carried ammo back then most likely carried .303 Savage. I kept a bunch of boxes and have them to this day. I still have that old rifle, along with a model 1899 of the same caliber. I've traded a couple others I now regret letting go. Smoothest lever gun need ever produced IMHO. Factoid: In the movie Death Hunt, Charles Bronson carries a Savage 99. Cool. You never see them in movies.1 point

Your pricing is MORE than fair! Its a straight up steal in my eyes. I know how much I have in my converted S12, and if I didnt have one I'd be all over yours!1 point

Big fan here, deep but very narrow experience. HiPoint 995, which will get another stock upgrade. 9mm compatibility with my primary handguns and affordable to shoot alot. M1 Carbine, either original or tactified. Not affordable to shoot and I'm not buying a Ruger .30 or Automag for the pistol version. I bought one of these before my first (and only) AR. Unless south Korea smuggles in the millions they have in storage, it appears the new min for a non-universal starts at $800. In my travels, my opinion is the stuff starting at $1200 is not necessarily collector grade, but good enough condition that I wouldn't shoot them much. I'm hesitant to add the PPS-43c as it's a modified open bolt sub gun. If I recall, the 7.62x25 is "optimized" for a 9" bbl. It does enter the realm of a cold war PDW. Got some pistol options, mine is a CZ 52.1 point

My first gun was a Win. Model 37 16 gauge, that belonged to my father. I still have it, and my last one I got was also a Win. 37 12 gauge, that belonged to my grandfather.1 point

I figured my Glock makes a good candidate for a nightstand gun. Simplicity of having no safety and no slide to rack. Easy shooter too, it's only 9mm:) Plus has a flashlight and 15 + 1 capacity1 point

I'd be all for that, but keeping it seasoned while being around saltwater environments seems like a nightmare.1 point

So not to drift Greg's thread on Savage 99's. The subject of books/pamphlets was brought up there. There are many books out there that bring some serious cash. Always check at used book stores, estate/garage sales, you may find some real treasures.1 point

I've been searching for a copy of Elmer Keith's "Safari" for years. I finally bought one last week. I still paid through the nose for it, but it was a fraction of the going prices. I've never had much luck in used book stores, but have bought many on a number of gun forums, amazon, and eBay.1 point

I did a bit of research when I had a few colt police models and from what I can recall SAAMI changed the pressure of the .38 in the late 60's or maybe 70's? Todays +P is closer to original spec but a bit higher maybe? I pretty quickly abandoned the idea of shooting any +P out of them; couldn't come up with any good reason to do so when standard .38s are just as plentiful and cheap. If I were in a position to were I had to dedicate one of these old guns to defensive duty I would either just roll with the standard loads, or more realistically get a modern firearm. These oldies can still shoot, but I don't see the appeal in making them actually work for their supper anymore either.1 point

It was, I won't deny that. Taptalk was nice, but it was frequently "broken" when the forum software would be updated. For "the fix", we had to wait for Tapatalk to update the plugin that works with the server. They were slow oftentimes. I miss it, but it's possible to get used to using the mobile browser. What I miss most was how it kept up with ALL threads you had participated in. If one of them had a new post, it got bumped to the top. I was probably one of the biggest Taptalk fans out there, I encouraged several different forums to enable it when it first starting coming out. I think they used to offer a really good product, but they've went downhill (and fast) since their glory days. Oh well. I'm not trying to speak for @TGO David himself, as only he knows what is on the roadmap over the next decade, but I wouldn't hold my breath regarding Taptalk support returning. I actually enjoy not having Tapatalk on my phone anymore; It makes it easier to spend less time online.1 point

While we are on the subject, We have a new gun shop here in Crossville in the old Dave's Pawn Shop store just south off exit 317 I-40. The folks that own the Gun Shop & Trading Post in Livingston set up the second store in Crossville as "The Gun Shop". Their gun prices looked to be pretty reasonable. When it was Dave's, prices were ridiculous. There only like 3 or 4 miles off the exit..... worth a peek for sure.1 point

Calico M-900. 9mm carbine with 50 and 100 round mags. It's a blast to shoot, but good luck making it through a range session without everyone and their brother wanting a turn. At least it has a Brass catcher!1 point

Had a similar problem on my LR-308 build but it was all on me! Dropped the receiver and dented a spot on the lip of the threads. Took a needle file to straighten out the threads, applied BLUE Loctite to the barrel extension and installed as usual. I've probably run a couple thousand rounds through it since and have had no problems at all. Extremely accurate rifle and the Loctite fills all the voids ensuring 100% contact between the receiver and the barrel (just be careful to not get any on the barrel nut threads or inside the action). I use the same procedure on all my 10/22 builds because the factory barrel to receiver fit is fairly sloppy.1 point

If your going to hit Buds, you also need to hit Smoky Mtn knife works next door. Their ammo prices are a bit better on some types and I saw the same on their guns for some models. The knife works has expanded their gun area enormously during the last 3 or 4 years.1 point

I have a pre-model 10 I bought 10 years ago with a holster for $250 Very nice condition only a bit of holster wear and the usual ring around the cylinder. Never got used to the original grips and was hoping to eventually get one of those vintage Tyler T adapters. Ended up putting an ugly pachmyer grip on it. Feels good now but yech! Have been warned no Plus P ammo but have read 38 special back in the 40s and 50s was equal to plus p today. Never found out the truth but have mistakenly shot quite a bit of plus p out of it one day and it did no harm. Perfect gun for the nightstand and an easy shooter for ladies with little recoil from the all metal frame and the simplicity of having no safety or slide to rack.1 point

I am buying one Glock 17 mag per month just to be safe and to be "safe" with my wife . She can't complain at one mag per month ! LOL . I was around when the "Clinton era" was here and it sucked ! 15 rd mags were going for $95 or more each ! [1 point

There are some good guns at good prices in the classifieds. Seems anything over $500 is tough to sell. The bumps could be minimized if they were restricted to once a week & communications, questions, glws, & I had one of those, etc..., were limited to PM's. The likes at the bottom do suffice. Just my .04, adjusted for inflation.1 point

Right. I am definitely not so naive to think that this will last forever, or even a long time for that matter. Its just crazy how much the market fluctuates dependent, mostly anyways, on the current administration. It is most definitely a buyers market, unless you are in the market for surplus guns like Mosins, SKS's, etc! I really cant believe how much they have risen in price. I am glad I am not in a position to where I need to sell any guns right now, that's for sure. As I mentioned earlier, I have way more money in some of my firearms than I would ever get back on them in the current market. Im sure many of us here are in the same situation!1 point

As a NYer who moved down here I’d say your problems aren’t from transplants like myself. It’s gonna be the youth. I look at the stuff going on in Johnson City, liberal attitudes, gay pride parades, etc. it’s almost as bad as CA there. For myself, I bought land in the hills, built some AR pistols that I couldn’t own in NY, unpinned my stocks and put A2 birdcages back on. Rocking the standard mags and putting in for a few suppressors. I love this place.1 point
