Even NPR can be objective once in while. "How many times per year does a gun go off in an American school? We should know. But we don't. This spring the U.S. Education Department reported that in the 2015-2016 school year, "nearly 240 schools ... reported at least 1 incident involving a school-related shooting." The number is far higher than most other estimates. But NPR reached out to every one of those schools repeatedly over the course of three months and found that more than two-thirds of these reported incidents never happened. Child Trends, a nonpartisan nonprofit research organization, assisted NPR in analyzing data from the government's Civil Rights Data Collection. We were able to confirm just 11 reported incidents, either directly with schools or through media reports." https://www.npr.org/sections/ed/2018/08/27/640323347/the-school-shootings-that-werent3 points

Around 3 years ago my wife and I went to Gatlinburg for our anniversary. We skipped all the touristy shops and stuff and just drove around looking at this and that. We walked up to Clingmans Dome just at the right time. I got a picture of her with the clouds below us and a rainbow coming up through the clouds. Pretty cool I think. I'll try to add the picture here. She'd have my a$$ if she knew I posted a picture of her. But I think the clouds below and rainbow shooting upwards was cool.3 points

It’s also a double edged sword. We want to minimize the risks of someone who is mentally ill in a violent way, but we don’t want to stigmatize mental illness in such a way that we punish folks for seeking help because it will act as a deterrent to folks seeking help they need.2 points

TWRA is reporting 772 antlered deer were harvested in last weekend’s inaugural velvet deer hunt.2 points

Greg, I’m certain I’m not the first to tell you, but you may have out kicked your coverage in the spousal selection department. I mean, we are talking frog gigging, but you’ve somehow still managed to marry up.2 points

My wife, for some unknown reason, just loves to go frog gigging. I took her Saturday night. Our boys had the good sense to stay home. I sprayed with bug spray until my clothes were dripping. I'm covered with chigger bites. She got none. We never did find any decent frogs.1 point

http://www.foxnews.com/entertainment/2018/08/27/carol-burnett-star-tim-conway-is-battling-dementia-and-is-almost-entirely-unresponsive-report-says.html Sad to have a great comedian go this way. The thought of Tim Conway brings back a lot of memories of him absolutely cracking me up on film and T.V. He and Harvey Korman would have me rolling on the floor with their skits. This sucks!1 point

I'm thinking Mrs. GreginTenn is wondering how long it is going to take Mr. GreginTenn to figure out that she wants to "gig", just not frogs... I mean, how hard does a girl have to work to get her man out in the woods at night without the kids... sheesh...1 point

We are over run with with deer in our neighborhood, there's some really nice 8 and 10 point bucks roaming around in everybody's yards. There's a handful of folks feeding them but the houses are so close together I'm not sure how someone could take one safely. I'm sure it's not healthy for them to be so overpopulated.1 point

All social media is liberal. Sad but true. They know their Target audience is the younger crowd that due to the corruption of our education have been indoctrinated as left liberals. Brilliant business plan. Not so good for our country. Isn't free speech great! It was a great move by the liberals to slowly infiltrate the schools and brainwash the children. Too bad more parents did not see that truth and fix it at home by showing the children the truth. Another reason they wanted prayer out of school. Long term plans and they worked. It will take a lot to recover from all of this.1 point

First off I want to say I'm sorry about the Chigger attack!!!! Sounds like you will be on Bendryl tabs for a while and the Bendryl Pump bottle spray will help alot also. Good luck with that! You are suppose to frog gig from a jon boat, canoe, Kayak etc etc. Gigging from the bank will never be productive. A buddy and I used to go about twice a month on a Saturday night on one of his small lakes on his farm from a jon boat and I was gigging and he was bagging. I would gig the frog and put the gig over my shoulder and he would pull the frog and put it in a burlap bag. We would get 35 to 40 every trip. We did have one night my buddy Derby went swimming. It was purely accidental but I gigged a frog but along with the frog I gigged a Cottonmouth and both of them went to the back of the boat and Derby dove out of the boat to get way from the snake. It was funny when it happened but I was required to check the gig end before going over the shoulder from then on. We still laugh about that when we get together which is seldom these days but we had some fun times.1 point

Very true Chuck. This is not an issue subject that can done without a lot of forethought and input from Medical Professionals. It cannot just be a political issue but a medical issue also..........JMHO1 point

That is correct. Unless it’s a court order it isn’t in a searchable database that would show up in a background check. Those wanting the background checks to show that don’t seem to understand all their problems will be there also. When they figure that out; they won’t want that.1 point

Check for Vacuum leaks. Likely source is the intake boots between the carbs and cylinder. Could also be cracked covers on the sides of the carbs. Could also be abnormally high idle speed because of other issues. Does it start cold and idle with no choke?1 point

I was only joking about carry 2 guns . But we are going there to visit a couple of cross stitching shops that my wife wants to see. Plus I'm always looking for old cars along the way in peoples yards. I'm missing my old 89 Tercel. Mainly a trip to get away from the kids on our anniversary and avaioding the touristy type crap in Gatlinburg. Might even swing past Whittakers in Ownesboro on way back and eat some mutton at the Moonlight Café1 point

I think it was Nashville Motorcycle Repair that worked on my son's old bike. They did a good job. This was several years ago.1 point

A judge has extended the ban. The judge also said Defense Distributed’s First Amendment concerns were “dwarfed” by the states’ safety considerations. https://www.reuters.com/article/us-usa-court-guns/u-s-judge-extends-ban-of-online-3-d-printed-gun-blueprints-idUSKCN1LC1UF Cody was right. For me, even after fairly extensive practice, I've found that my first shot drawing from a holster always uses the sights. For some reason I have a hard time getting to the dot on the draw. Once the first shot is off the follow up shots using the dot are easy. I mentioned this to an instructor at a high end class I took last fall and he said he agreed. We had 4 students that were running red dots. Across the board we were 2/10th's slower on first shot if we found the dot. I don't know if this is because I've trained to look for the sight picture for decades or something else. I just know that I've settled (for now) on grabbing the sights and then moving to the dot. I'm out of practice right now because I had to get a house rehabbed and on the market but hopefully in the next 2 weeks I will be back to my regular dry fire and range routine. As an aside, this was completely opposite to my experience with a dot on a carbine. That I took to like a duck and water. I would say just go for it. It won't slow you down and for me anything 25 yards and out is like taking candy from a baby. Mark1 point

Stumbled across this, and it stowed away as I left the shop! Has a removable plate for ez optic install, high sights for easy can add ons, comes w 2 24 and 1 17 round mag w case and flat blackstrap. Awesome awesome pistol. Only bad thing? It’s new so holsters are scarce. Finally went online for a cheapie, will order one at red hill today.Hate to say it but being a sig fan, this makes me an fn fan. Zero issues. Runs like a sewing machine, emptied the 17 round w junk 125 gr ball ammo, this just screamed! Enjoy!1 point

I have several knives to finish in the next month or so and then I'll be making 3-4 of this same blade in different materials and woods. While they will be the exact same blank they will appear totally different. Upon completion I'll post them up and give you all the opportunity to get one with and without a sheath just in case some of you want to make your own or sub it out to someone else. We are probably lookin' at 5-7 weeks from now unless the missus keeps adding stuff to the honeydew list.1 point
