  1. Picked up an import T-bolt 144 from Robertson Trading Post while on a visit there with a fellow TGOr. It was in the "has to see the doctor rack." I always wanted a T-bolt 144. I walked out the door shedding 300.00 for the 144. Took it home and tossed the poorly fittted 10 rd mag and it didn't look like those sold by Havlins. I took this: https://www.gunpartscorp.com/products/39430A and made it into a single shot. It has a spot welded globe front sight, Parker Hale brass aperture holder under the grip. S130 rear sight. Several missing items like all hardware for hand stop, no sling, etc. I ran about 20 patches through the barrel. I slapped some poly on the stock and Birchwood Casey bluing on the barrel and receiver. Just to see what it would do I put some high rings on it to clear the rear sight and put on a cheap Tasco Varmint. Using Fiocchi SV LRN it was boringly accurate off a Caldwell front rest and squeeze rear bag at 25 yrds. So I cranked up the magnification and started to shoot 2" saltines at 185 yrds using Federal Automatch. It got so that I could hit about 1 cracker out of 3 shots, so I smiled and bagged the 144 for another day.

  2. You finally said something I can agree with, and is in line with what the others have been trying to tell you. Maybe this is what you meant to say from the get go, but it’s not what you were saying...thus all the push back. A few years ago it was much easier, but with the policy changes by UPS and FedEx, it’s much more difficult now. Of course many gun dealers have made it harder with their ridiculous transfer fees, but there are still quite a few FFL dealers that are fair with their fees and shipping costs if you look for them.

  3. If they have enough soccer fans to fill a stadium, let them pay for it.

  4. I haven't sensed any unfriendliness, just one guy (who is wrong) arguing against several people who are right. I didn't pile on because the info being provided was correct so I had nothing to add. I will say that with the requirement to ship next day air it is sometimes cheaper to let 2 dealers ship it via USPS

  6. Someone once asked me the old question, "if you could have anything you want, what would it be?" I answered, "a professional sports team. That way I can have everything I want." I'm at a loss to think of a way to make money faster outside of owning a Federal Reserve printing press. Nashville doesn't need a soccer team. But sports teams are long term investments for the community at their core, so you need to look at this long term like any other business opportunity. Whether a soccer team is sustainable is a matter of debate. MLS isn't a business model I know enough about, but I plan to brush up on it. I hope Metro has someone who has done the same well before it came up for a vote. The team could use Nissan stadium, or even First Tennessee park long term (and they have been using both in the interim). But then the team doesn't get additional revenues from other events at the stadium, and that's a big reason to be in the sports ownership business, so unless the owners of the Sounds or TItans want to buy the team, those places aren't the long term solution. Problem is, if the city puts up money, it's probably a grant, or at best, repaid with little interest. Pretty good terms for a solid loan from what amounts to Taxpayers Credit Union of Nashville. If the team wants to own the stadium, they should have to pay for it outright, or the local government should be able to profit on a loan on or about the same rate as a bank would. If they don't like the terms, let them hit up a real bank and have to go through a real risk analysis of their proforma. If the city pays for the whole thing, they should own stadium. They can lease it to the team for a bargain as primary occupants, but the city should make the profit on everything after that. Too often the team owns the stadium, even after the city contributes significant tax revenue to help construct it, yet the city only sees the incidental revenue from events (sales tax, occupancy tax, ect), not the net profit after event expenses.

  8. Glad I wasn't the only one who didn't see anything. The last two weeks my camera footage has dropped 90%. I know patterns change about this time of year but sure hoping it picks back up and some new bucks show up as well.

  11. Oh, what the heck. I'm bored, so I will enter the fray. Yes the law says you can do it, if you tell the carrier that you are doing it, but... If the common carrier says they will not ship a handgun (or any firearm), between two unlicensed individuals, then you can't compel them do so (as stated above). You can trick them into it, by not telling them that the shipment contains a firearm. But, has it's been pointed out, you have broken the law. and risk a prison term, separation from family, loss of income and loss of gun rights. So why would any sane person want to do that?

  13. Actually, this has been a rather amusing topic and informative at the same time. Sometimes it's sorta fun to watch an individual beat themselves up against the brick wall of fact!

  14. Not only is he wrong, and admitted to breaking the law, he's accusing those trying to explain it of being trolls. They have been very patient while trying to explain it and showing multiple sources of information. For his sake, I hope the ATF doesn't read this thread.

  15. You can add more than one person to a trust such as family members and Friends. It should also make it somewhat easier when you pass away for whoever has to deal with your NFA items. This is just my opinion. John Wells is a member of TGO and did my trust. He would be the man to talk to.

  16. That’s meaningless. Here are the policies from UPS: https://www.ups.com/us/en/help-center/packaging-and-supplies/special-care-shipments/firearms.page FedEx: https://www.fedex.com/en-us/service-guide/terms/express-ground-samedaycity.html Both specifically state that they will only ship firearms if a licensee is involved at one end or the other. DHL won’t ship between parties unless both are licensees.http://www.dhl-usa.com/content/dam/downloads/us/express/shipping/terms_and_conditions/prohibited_restricted_commodities.pdf If you were shipped a handgun from a non-licensee and you are a non-licensee, and the common carrier was not notified, then federal law was broken in the process.

  17. Unless I wasn't allowed to buy a handgun I would just get an FFL to take delivery. It's only $35ish so not a big deal if you really want the item. You pay shipping either way.

  20. Nope. Need is no homeless, hungry, victimized children. Soccer, well that is a want. Placing that want above true needs is a sign of just how low and immoral this country is becoming.

  21. I think we need a soccer team (I like soccer, my son plays), but there should be no reason an existing football stadium could not be shared. Most of the middle school games I go to locally do just that.

  24. RIF The question was about shipping a handgun. But thanks for letting us know we don’t know what we are talking about. However…we are always willing to learn. This is all new to most of us. Your expertise on the law and your first hand experiences should help us all. Really?

  25. The guy who bought it from me described it as feeling like baby oil smeared on a glass mirror. I'm not sure what other activities he's involved in but I'd say the description was accurate none the less.
