  1. You seem to get it. Maybe those other two will when they quit bickering. This is not about making guns in the grand scheme of things.

  2. Thanks for responding. I see it as a first amendment issue and not a second amendment issue. This company definitely is within their rights to publish and sell the programming for the 3D printers.

  3. Of course this is just a model but you can do some pretty cool things with a 3D printer. I could build a functioning gun on our 3D printer but it is just not practical with current models. If someone wants an untraceable gun it is much easier to buy on off the street or get a polymer 80 frame or something like that. With technology advancements it might be a different story in 5-10 years. For now 3D printed guns is just another "monster under the bed" story the media uses to get ratings.

  4. On 3D guns? I think it's awesome. The technology is limited now but will improve. As its been pointed out, its always been legal to make guns at home. Good luck to these people if they think they can regulate the internet.

  6. Yep, it's one of KIA's logos. They use that one in Korea and since it looks so much better than the "KIA" logo we get, some owners have turned to replacing the US logo with the Korean-market one. It also helps hide the fact that they're driving a KIA . . .

  11. Cars look so much alike these days that I can't tell them apart any more unless I can read the brand name on the car. I call them Cookie Cutters. All the companies are copying all the others ideas. That is why in most news broadcasts when a crime is committed and the bad guys get away in a car most times they said it was a black 4 door sedan or a white 4 door but seldom give a model................JMHO

  12. Just Google poacher weapons. There is already a booming production of untraceable homemade weapons around the world. They are made out of pipe, car parts, staplers, and pretty much amything else. 3D printing is not going to flood the world with ghost guns. It might allow for printing of accessories like custom rails, stocks, handguards and such. That would be a big plus in my eyes. Also at this point a lot of the printed items lack the strength to withstand the pressures. So no one is making a 100% plastic gun any time soon.

  13. A Democratic president wouldn't have checked with the NRA. I defended Obama A LOT on this forum until he went full anti-gun. But, I guess you don't remember that. It was before you got all your newfound superiority.

  14. The drama here is because those doing the news stories and those commenting on what can be done are clueless. Those who have the skill set have had the ability to make fully functioning untraceable firearms for decades. Those that don’t have the skill set have been making zip guns for decades. I don’t care what they do one way or the other, but there are already laws against all the things they are worried about happening.

  16. 203-205F is the sweet spot for me. That's right where all the fat on the brisket has rendered and the meat it as the peak of tenderness. In my experience, you start getting dry and tough from there.

  17. Tanker bought a Tisa. Didn't like it. Posted a bunch of stuff. Got banned later for some other stuff (unrelated). Now every time the date equals Pi x (the previous days stock market gains) divided by @TGO David's post count, someone comes and resurrects this thread. If it were possible I would mark it on my calendar, but it is an unexpected event:) I hope it never gets locked. I hope it lasts forever.

  18. I've owned a few Gerber knives, MK1, MK2, folding blade models, but never an auto. My preference for an auto would be Protech and then Benchmade.

  23. I took this class 2 years ago and would HIGHLY recommend it. Its not just about using a gun in low light. There is a wealth of information about self defense in general.

  24. I love my bob tails, much more comfortable to shoot. This pistol sells around $850 I just don’t need another at the moment. Would I buy it if I didn’t have 3 similar, yes.

  25. The Fed's position on this under the Obama Administration was that 3D printing AR-15 lower receivers was a violation of ITAR restrictions. The government, in this recent ruling, said this is not true and that modern sporting rifles up to .50cal including the AR-15 platform absolutely are not military weapons of war. Read that carefully. The anti-firearms lobby just got their asses kicked. The precedent has now been set that the AR-15 is not an assault weapon.

  26. My thoughts: I don't the idea of using a Government length frame with an Officer's sized slide. I'd rather it be the other way around, if anything. No texturing on the mainspring housing means it will try squirm around in your hand, and the bobtail makes it worse. I'm not really a fan of the Series 80 firing pin safety. The safety lever seems mighty wide for a carry 1911. Clark/Para ramped barrel in .45 means it will probably be more finicky than a standard unramped barrel. Ramped barrels are great for 9mm / 10mm but in .45 they're more of a headache than anything. I like the new XS rear sight; I personally found the old express-style rear nearly useless. Accuracy results seemed good. 3" from steel cased ammo at 25 yards from a Ransom rest (which I assume they used) isn't bad for a production 1911. MSRP is $1250 but there is just no way. I would be looking at a Dan Wesson for close to that kind of money. For $800, it would be worth a look.

  29. Almost but not entirely. USMC Spec Ops bought Colt M45A1 CQB 1911's. A little over a year ago USMC sent 1000 of these pistols back to Colt to be replaced by the same model but with a different coating. They did not like the way the cerakote held up. Of the 1000 pistols, 477 were carried in theater by spec op groups and 523 sat in their armory and were not issued. I was lucky enough to be able to buy one of each. Here is a pic of the one carried by a Marine and the letter from Colt authenticating the pistol.
