  1. Cooked a chicken on it for lunch today. Salt and pepper chicken. Hickory wood chips for smoke. Water in water tray. Cooked on 240 degrees at 1 hour per pound of meat. Internal temp 165. This was simply amazing!!!! The smoker has proven to be quite the hit at our house.

  3. IMO keep the LCP. I have a Shield that is primary carry. But sometimes, especially based on what I wear, the LCP is the better option. Yes, the LCP II has better everything, but to be real, in most cases of self defense it won't matter. You probalby won't be using sights, trigger same, and if you do shoot to slide lock probably won't have an extra mag.

  4. Since he's gone to the Atlanta Braves game in my car today, I see it as only fair that I do a bit of "road testing" on his bike while he's gone. You know, just to be sure it'll be safe for him. So far, so good on the "testing". I really, REALLY miss riding a bike.

  5. I admit I was a little proud when my son asked me to ride with him this morning so I could ride back the new toy he purchased. He'd never ridden a bike before. Mama ain't happy. His girlfriend ain't happy, but I'm tickled we share a common interest. It's an 04 Suzuki GS500F. Very low miles, and runs and rides great. A perfect starter bike in my opinion. Now if I can talk mama into us getting a bike, I know where there's a sweet HD Night Train!

  6. Good for him. My first bike was a GS500 too, though it was a decade older. If he hasn't taken the MSF course, I highly recommended it. Budget a decent amout of cash for gear. Ride safe.

  7. I have to admit I don't miss riding a bike as much as I thought I would till I got my first car and then all that peddeling up and down hills was just a fond memory and now even the thought of it now makes my legs ache........ Oh wait!!! wrong bike.............

  9. My co-host Mark and I recently got a chanced to catch up with TGO's own Randy Harris ( @Cruel Hand Luke ) to talk about Low Light Training, Tactics and Gear. Randy was our first ever guest on the Shooters Nation Podcast and was kind enough to come back and talk about a subject which is pretty timely for any of you thinking about taking his upcoming FIGHT AT NIGHT class in August, in Dayton, TN. You can listen to the episode on iTunes, Spotify, Stitcher and the Shooters Nation website. OR you can listen right here. We'd love to know what you think. If you liked it, please do give us a positive review on iTunes as it helps us out by making sure the podcast rises to the top of searches on things about Second Amendment issues, guns, training, etc.

  10. I considered an electric but went with the propane instead. I just liked the fact that I could use it anywhere instead of having to be close to the house or using an extension cord. I'm very happy with mine. You guys talking about thermometers got me looking. For the price, I might have to give one of these a try. Right now, I use a Thermapen which is great but I still have to open the door to use it. https://www.bbqguys.com/maverick/redi-chek-wireless-digital-bbq-thermometer-with-two-hybrid-probes

  12. I've got a Shield too, but I mostly pocket carry, so I still prefer the smaller 380s. And you are correct about what an original used LCP would currently bring...not much. I actually got rid of mine several years ago and got close to what I paid for it then. I just recently bought the LCP-II, and have been using a S&W Bodyguard 380 in the interim, which is also a nice pistol.

  13. I hate the cumbersome CMP purchase process for these 1911s and the prices, but I'll probably succumb and send in a packet. I carried one when I was in the USMC, so I've always wanted an authentic GI version. I've got several 1911s that I shoot already, so this will mostly be a safe queen if I get one.

  14. I have an LCP that I purchased about 2008, not exactly sure of that though. Anyway, I ran across it in a shop in Smyrna, and it walked home with me. lol I did get it with a Crimson Trace laser and find it adequate for any close range work. I carried it until I discovered the Shield, and since, the LCP gets little use. I'll take it out and fire a mag thru it several times a year, just to keep familiar with it. Nice little pocket pistols, I just prefer the Shield more. I really ought to sell the LCP, but too much in it to feel comfortable with what it would bring. So it's a backup these days.

  15. If you bought the original LCP, I'd recommend getting rid of it and getting the later version with better sights...or better yet get an LCP-II. I was an early adopter of the LCP (as you can probably tell from my avatar and my forum name), but I always hated the sights. The trigger was something you had to get used to, but if you shot it enough, you could overcome that. The sights, on the other hand, were always a challenge for me...they are so low profile that in low light and/or shooting a dark target, my older eyes were challenged to find them. I finally upgraded to the LCP-II for much better sights and a better trigger.

  16. The hammer-headed bat, also known as the big-lipped bat, is a megabat widely distributed in equatorial Africa. This large bat is found in riverine forests, mangroves, swamps, and palm forests at elevations less than.More at Wikipedia I ran across the picture on another group and googled it thinking it might have been a photoshop.

  17. If you like Salt & Pepper Chicken you would probably love Lemon Pepper Chicken. I cook it often on my grill. Chicken breasts with butter or margerine and Lemon Pepper wrapped in foil and put it on the top grate of my gas grill at 300 degrees for an hour to hour and 10 minutes depending on how big breasts are. Use old style stick in Thermometer and reads at 180 + it's ready to eat. I get the large jars of it at Sams.

  18. U.S. distribution of Tisas 1911s is on hiatus. It is believed that a new distributor is being lined up. btw, I also own an RIA 1911, and you are correct, I do swear by it!

  23. Sounds like our place Garfua and usuviri. We have a running spring with all that draws. Coopers Hawks, Water snakes, snapping turtles(big ones), foxes(red...cut little guys), deer, possum, raccoons, hummingbirds, Blue Jays, Cardinals, Finches, Titmouse, Doves, woodpeckers, and recently, the coyotes have made a re-appearence. The coyotes I could do without. Our bats seem to have deserted us this year, as the mosquito populate is eating me alive. Going to get a new bat house and get up. See if that helps.

  24. I’ve had about 5 red tail hawks hanging out in my back yard for the past couple of weeks. Subsequently, the chipmunk population of my ecosystem appears to have been decimated. Speaking of bats, every year I swear I’m gonna put up a bat house to help control the mosquitoes of which there is no shortage around here. One of these days I might actually do it.

  25. If I recall correctly, the GB and the Glock 17 came out at the same time. Glock had much better marketing than Steyr and won the Austrian Military contract. Then it just became another Wonder9. And at that time, he market was flooded with Wonder9s!

  28. I figured you were, but I did want to post them. After all, a man can post a pic of his new baby in approximately 9 months... this baby took the best part of three years! Incidentally, I've been using irfanview for years and love it. Thanks for the link anyway. I had to resize the pics to the smallest size irfanview has. Seems to have came out OK, though.

  31. Disclaimer: Sorry for the typos in the 2nd video. I was paying way more attention to music and editing clips and forgot to watch for my fast typing errors. Here's a couple videos from this week. One is some highlights of the mean doe that keeps all the young bucks in line. It's common for her to fend them off for close to a dang hour just to keep them from eating while she is. Heck, if she shared she'd be full in 10 minutes and on her way, but OH NO! Can't do that! Lol The other video also stars the mean doe a few times but is a bit of everything this week. There is another surprise guest (guests) this week. I know y'all will enjoy seeing that part for sure. P.S. it's not the nasty coyote either Anyway, I hope y'all enjoy it.

  33. Man it was a great week to check cameras! Check it out and hope y'all are getting some good pictures as well. A little over a month and I'll be up in a lock on hoping a velvet monster strolls through. I hung another Millennium m100u this morning and have a Hawk Helium XL stand on the way for the backside of the property.

  35. This video is a little long (5ish minutes) but I had quite a few things I was very happy to see. The deer are obviously still hitting salt hard but also already eating my throw n grow food plot that I only planted 2 weeks ago. I'm pretty dang excited to see it work since I was hesitant about it working that easy. Also the first fawns of the year appeared on camera. They're not newborns so they've been around just not in front of my cameras. I haven't seen any of the big bucks yet but I'm enjoying everything I see. One thing I haven't seen is many turkey or raccoons. But since I'm not putting out corn like I usually do, that's probably why. Anyway, here it is, enjoy!

  36. This is from last week. I'll check the cameras again tomorrow or Sunday. I'm excited to see how the new Command Ops camera worked. I put it on a trail that splits the property I hunt on. I planted some of that throw n grow food plot on it a couple weeks ago. I'll be able to watch deer on the trail and document food plot growth at the same time.

  37. The internet is a funny thing. Didn't mean to take you wrong. We both know each other way better than that. MY POINT... little Hogg is dishonest. I will attack him personally, just like I will attack "Shannon Demands Attention", because they are attacking me. They're attacking you too, with as much deceit as they can muster. This is Hogg's chosen field. When he saw visions of TV trucks, he went for it. Believe what you want. I have known more than my share of those kinda folks. He needs to just go be on TV somewhere, and leave my rights alone.

  38. Almost but not entirely. USMC Spec Ops bought Colt M45A1 CQB 1911's. A little over a year ago USMC sent 1000 of these pistols back to Colt to be replaced by the same model but with a different coating. They did not like the way the cerakote held up. Of the 1000 pistols, 477 were carried in theater by spec op groups and 523 sat in their armory and were not issued. I was lucky enough to be able to buy one of each. Here is a pic of the one carried by a Marine and the letter from Colt authenticating the pistol.
