I still enjoy shooting but like Esko said, going solo just doe not get it anymore. I lost my shooting artner 2 years back in February and he did up keep on the range we shot at so we shot for free. Shortly after he died they closed the range and sold out and the range is now private so now if I shoot I do it when I go out to daughters house. and shoot with Tommy, (SIL) Once I move out there I'm going to build myself a small range cause there is a great berm out behind my house about 40 yards and it's in the country. Going to see about getting some metal plates so I don't have to keep replacng the targets all the time. Something to look forward to after all the negative part of my having to move. Might even be able to invite some members over to shoot that live in the area.2 points

Anyone else just don't see guns the same way they used to? I cant tell the last time I have been trully excited about a buying a new gun or even hearing about a new gun coming out. In fact, I have been downsizing and dont even go shooting anymore. Is this a terminal case or is there still hope?1 point

Disclaimer: Sorry for the typos in the 2nd video. I was paying way more attention to music and editing clips and forgot to watch for my fast typing errors. Here's a couple videos from this week. One is some highlights of the mean doe that keeps all the young bucks in line. It's common for her to fend them off for close to a dang hour just to keep them from eating while she is. Heck, if she shared she'd be full in 10 minutes and on her way, but OH NO! Can't do that! Lol The other video also stars the mean doe a few times but is a bit of everything this week. There is another surprise guest (guests) this week. I know y'all will enjoy seeing that part for sure. P.S. it's not the nasty coyote either Anyway, I hope y'all enjoy it.1 point

I have a Charter Arms Pitbull in 40S&W and the extractor system works wonderful. So far it is has about 200 flawless rounds through it.1 point

I clean the racks and the water pan. Everything else, no way.1 point

15 yds? More like 2 yds. It's a "get off me" gun. I rarely practice with it using a 2 hand grip. I assume I'll either have a little one by the other hand or be pushing someone away.1 point

I still love to go and do as much as possible but it does get old going solo and only being able to shoot paper in doors. The Gun Room is a nice range but my goal is to get some land of my own and go from there. Other than hanging with the family there's nothing I enjoy more. Getting in to shooting suppressed has been a blast and other than funds I don't plan on slowing down.1 point

Yeah....that's what I have and how it works. Thanks to everyone for the suggestions. This made some awesome pulled pork!!!!!!!1 point

Based on the limited amount of information I have seen (From his wife); I agree. Couple the above with him charging the shooter; and no, we would not be seeing a trial if a cop had shot him. It appears he was convicted on statements made before the criminal showed up and a picture after he was shot. Neither have anything to do with whether or not a reasonable person would fear they were in immediate danger of death or great bodily harm. I support the Police when they take action against a criminal creating a deadly force situation, and the standards for a citizen protecting himself should be no less. EDIT: This appears to be another case of a person getting exactly as much justice as they can afford.1 point

It would find it a stretch at 15 yards without a ton of practice at that range. I don't think that the LCP was made with that kind of accuracy in mind. I would think 7 yards would be a much more realistic a range to practice at..............JMHO1 point

My smoker has a separate element for the wood chips. I smoke butts at 2251 point

A typical shoulder shouldn’t take that long. But, with the electric you should be able to set it and pretty much forget it once you get a few smokes underneath you. I little iGrill mini is a good thermometer for under $50. There are better ones that you can spend a lot more on - but this is all you need to get started. Being able to put something in the evening before and not worry about it until you get up is convenient.1 point

Most likely not. A lot of good information here: https://www.smokingmeatforums.com/1 point

I am SOOOO in agreement about a GOOD belt and holster. All the difference in the world!!1 point

Yea, get an I grill mini. You can use it on the smoker and also to assure you get that steak just the way you want it.1 point

I can hit stuff with mine. Doesn't bother me to shoot it either with the little finger extension on the mag. I rarely carry mine. It stays in the glove box.1 point

Manhattan calls for rye. That may be where that bottle of Woodford goes. I love 'em.1 point

BTW... you are gonna need an electronic meat thermometer. You at least need one that you can read without opening the box. Better yet, a wireless that you can read away from the smoker. I have both, but there's better now than what I have. TGO David has the cool stuff.1 point

I was curious about what happened (because I had never heard of the case), but can’t find a whole lot of detailed information on what happened. From what limited amount I can find this whole trial sounds sketchy. Of course I’m giving the benefit of the doubt to the man working at the landfill that had been warned a dangerous fugitive was on the loose instead of the fleeing forcible felon that got killed.1 point

I've never been very accurate with a .380. The Shield 9mm has been an excellent pistol and is available with or without a manual safety.1 point

Piggly Wiggly here has a reduced section in the meat department's freezer. We often find steaks there at greatly reduced price. I don't know if you are familiar with the term "aged beef", but it is a big selling point at high dollar restaurants. It turns out that these steaks that have aged in the grocer's cooler are usually better and more tender than the fresh cut steaks in the other cooler that people pay top dollar for.1 point

I will answer this with specifics at some point over the weekend. There are Hogue grips that make the LCP immensely better to shoot, and you can put in a better recoil spring that will make the gun feel vastly better. You can make this snappy pain-in-the-ass thing that you don't want to shoot into something that is actually ok to shoot. That is as good as it will get. Shooting the LCP will never be fun, but at least it can be made to tolerable.1 point
