  1. We recently had the chance to sit down with US Navy SEAL (ret.), past VP of Security for the LA Dodgers, and current Director of Security for a large church and attached private school here in the greater Nashville area, to talk about establishing and strengthening the Safety and Security protocols for churches and other faith-based organizations. This episode is lengthy but thankfully your phone and computer have ways to pause it and finish it in manageable chunks. Click here to listen now on the Shooters Nation website, or search for this episode on iTunes, Stitcher, Spotify, Google Play Music and iHeartRadio.

  2. That was to an FFL. Neither FedEx nor UPS will ship any firearm between non-licensees any longer. And since you can't use USPS for handguns, there is actually no longer any legal way to ship a handgun intrastate between private individuals. - OS

  3. I hear what you all are saying about the focus on the NRA in this particular episode. I agree that maybe we could have moved on to other things, but these podcasts aren't exactly scripted. It's like any other conversation between friends: You might sit down with a group and talk about a thing. You might talk about that thing from one perspective, and then another. You and your friends might talk about it from different angles and make the same points several times over, but in different ways. You do this because people tend to try to conceptualize, rationalize and explain things to ourselves and to others. We're both students and teachers, simultaneously, and this multi-angled approach of informing and learning is the method that we go through to make sure that we're not being lazy about our thoughts. To some folks, it feels maybe like beating a dead horse. That's probably why college English Composition professors and good high-school teachers tell us to write rough drafts, distill our thoughts down into something concise, and then write our papers. Podcasts, unless highly scripted, aren't often like that. You get to see the whole process play out. It's like sitting at the Chef's Table at a restaurant. You're going to see the sausage get made before you ever see it cooked on the stove. I guarantee you that Tiffany and Aqil's message isn't singular, nor is it all about the NRA. That's why I am glad to keep the door open for them to come back and continue the conversation with us. There's a LOT to consider when we start talking about diversity and inclusion. We didn't even scratch the surface.

  4. I listened to the podcast and I agree with Omega. I'm an NRA member but I don't really live and breath all of it. I don't wear 2A clothing, no bumper stickers, and I couldn't care less about Ted Nugent. I'm just not really the activist or advocate type, I mainly just keep to myself. I can barely get enthused enough in the NRA to send them a membership payment. I felt a little like it was preaching to the choir regarding the fringe element. I don't run in those circles so I can't really change what they do and how it makes us look. TGO is already very welcoming but I'm sure we will strive to always keep that bar high. I did get a little context by listening to the podcast but just a little. I totally agree with diversity and inclusion of everyone but I'm still lost on why the demographics don't make sense. If you do a study of the demographics of people that buy F250 diesel 4x4 pickups you will probably find it is slanted toward a certain demographic, but I don't think it's because the Ford dealer is not welcoming to everyone or their marketing is not sound it's just not everyone wants to drive a diesel 4x4 pickup, or can afford to. Shooting and firearms are kind of an expensive hobby in case you haven't noticed and also not everyone is into it no matter how you market it. I don't have any statistics to back this up but I would say that sites like Pirate4x4, PowerStrokeNation, AR15.com and TGO would all have have close to the same demographic statistics, or at least in the ballpark. Probably for the same reason I hear ads about knee replacements on the radio station I listen to sometimes, the demographics of the radio station support marketing to aging people who have knee problems. They wouldn't probably run that same ad on a station that played music for the younger crowd. Disclaimer: I'm no marketing or demographics expert by any means. I totally agree with trying to bring more people into the fold, certainly we need those votes on our side. I think that along with most things it starts at home, my kids are grown but both my son and daughter own multiple firearms and have been actively involved with handling and shooting firearms since they were young and they will vote accordingly.

  5. Thanks a bunch David, that was an excellent podcast on church security. I listened to it today while doing some office work. I emailed a link one of the elders of my church so he could listen and forward on the security team leader.

  6. True. I should have clarified by adding that it'll all depend on how much I can fork out when the time comes. That may limit me to the Dyna series. But one thing's for sure: just like when I step into the woods, I can already tell that this hunt is going to be a whole lot of fun!

  7. Yes, but you can't ship a handgun through the USPS, UPS won't ship to anyone that isn't an FFL, FedEx might do it; I don't know.

  8. Great choice in thumper! It looks good too, I had an 01 and loved it. Except mine was baby blue and I didn't like that so much. The best I got was 71mpg but how can anyone complain about that. It is an exceptional bike, the only reason I parted with it was to thin the herd. The website is incredible too. It looks like your grandson will be able to take it down the driveway in a couple years himself.

  10. I have one of these, and I have quite a few other single shots. I do have to say the feel of the rifle is quality. The trigger smoothed out a lot in just a box of ammo. I can post up some pictures and this weekend im going to try and put some of my handloads through it. Last time I took it out, i was just breaking in the barrel. I was shooting at 25 yards offhand and overall it handled great. The action when I got it was very stiff. It has started to break in, and its getting better as time goes on. One more thing guys, Guys, can you recommend a good drone simulator? In full 3D form, as I need this to teach my children. Recently found this website - https://bat-hawkrecon.com/. Do you think the information on this page can be trusted? I await your opinion.

  11. Hi guys, for all that don't have a nice garden spot like Greg I want to let you know about raised bed gardening. I started raised beds about 4 years ago and wish I had done this about 40+ years ago. I found crates from a local tractor co. that were free so that is what I used. You can make beds as long as you want, just keep them 4 ft wide or narrower as you can reach in from both sides. I bought a load of topsoil and mushroom mix and it is really the key. First on raised beds is you don't need a tiller or hoe, you don't compact the soil as you are not walking in it. You don't have to compete with weeds and grass as you are above them. I put down cardboard and some black plastic along edges and added dirt mix. First year I literally pulled 3 weeds all season. There is lots of info on web, but if you have any questions let me know.

  12. Was over at SIA today and got to handle one. First impression; hefty like my SP, with a pretty sizable grip. The surface didn't feel particularly smooth and the sharp edges, especially on the trigger guard was not inspiring. After being disappointed in the finish, I simply set it back down without dry firing. I would have bought one of their used SPs for $499 vs. $799 (I think) for the Colt. Side note; they have 2 new MP40 9mm in stock $599. Seemed to be well assembled extremely large pistol. Don't need a $600 novelty gun, but it would complement my PPS 43c. Now I'm thinking about layaway...

  13. I kept saying I was going to buy a new Cobra, but the price put me off. I could have had one new for less than $700 OTD; either through GT Distributors or a couple of online vendors. I walked into GT’s to find a used one for $550 with a $65 Desantis Holster. I bit, and now own lightly used Cobra. I have put about 300 rounds through it and I love it. It has a better trigger than my vintage Colt D frame and outshoots it. I am glad I found one for basically $150 less than a new one. Now it wears vintage Herretts Shooting Stars.

  14. You all know they make an adapter for the Shockwave that allows the use of Aguila mini shells (1-3/4") and they come in #7 bird shot, #1 Buck and 7/8 Oz slug. Almost doubles the capacity of the Shockwave! You can pick up an adapter for these little shells for $17, but they are currently out of stock.http://www.opsolmini-clip.com
