  1. Well the CZ found a new home and so did a Bersa Thunder. I had been admiring the Bersa Thunder surfcityred had for sale and little did I know he was admiring the CZ 75D. We got to talking and even though neither of us were looking for a trade thats exactly what happened. We worked out all the details and met up to get it done. I came home with this sweety and he went home with the CZ. I think he was happy with the deal cause he was all grins and smiles as he walked to his vehicle.

  2. One Second After was one of the most chilling books I have ever read. I think it gives such a stark vision of what could actually happen to all of us in such a cataclysmic event. All the visions of post nuclear life are often so far-fetched in writing, that they are almost totally unbelievable. But the stark reality of people in a day-to-day situation as this novel portrays is far worse, at least to me, than all the zombie and apocalyptic novels I have ever read. I have yet to read the 2 books that continue the story. Really don't know why, maybe it just affected me so that I don't want to revisit that family. I have read all manner of books in my life; from history, historical fiction, the alternative history type novels, military fiction, and all sorts of syfy. For me, the most terrifying stories I have ever read were...first the original Alien novel. It was chilling. Peter Benchley's Jaws. Great book, but now I hate water. MacCarthey'sThe Road was so completely devoid of hope for humanity, that it had it's own brand of...well, not terror, but some darkness so complete that I could not sleep after reading it. I would probably never read it again. And my list would have to include Day of Wrath. As SWCUMBERLAND almost said, it is a vision of a ...then possible stark reality that has now become almost a complete truth. Almost, not quite there yet, but the school shootings are coming close. And of course, the one I started talking about...One Second After. I apologize for the length, but I seem to have gotten a bit wound up this afternoon.

  3. Rereading 299 Days. It is a little too mystical, a fair bit too optomistic, and way too fast a timeline. Maybe if it was 799 Days. Fortchner"s DAY OF WRATH was frightening for its accuracy. Chapter 14 is EXACTLY what BHO was praying for, but never had even a false pretense to do.

  6. Sooo, @56FordGuy found a 1965 IH Scout 80 that has spent the last 15 years sitting in a rancher’s field up in Wy-gnome-ing. Well, I bought the damn thing. We are in the planning stages right now for what direction the restoration will go, but he will be documenting its progress on his YouTube channel. (I’ll post a link once the first video goes up.) I’m really excited as I have loved the Scout and wanted one for years. Folks love to go on about the early Bronco, but the Scout came first. Here she is as she sits today.

  7. I almost got side-swiped by a nice looking one of those a few hours ago. The gent driving it felt the need to take his half out of the middle at an inopportune moment. It was a nice looking truck though.

  10. I've had two scouts. A 68 and 77. I think once you own one you always have the bug. Good luck.

  11. Finger group I think his it pretty much dead center. I also got a heavy sense of NRA bashing. That aside some of the points are great. But s little on the virtue signalling side of debate. It comes across as almost creating yet another group that is offended by things that are really overblown. Oh well, it hurts nothing and does point out some items that need looking at occasionally. Problem is there are so many podcasts these days it is hard to really get through the noise to the truly good ones. And when we do find one we like we need to keep in mind that listening to others occasionally is a good idea. In this case it is not over the top and does have a underlying message most need to hear. If it just got to that message without some of the very same boxing and labeling it is pushing against. And I still agree that Uncle Ted needs to stay away from cameras and microphones. Very close to a great message, keep working it, most shooters might not like it in the beginning but I think most will come around.

  12. We had a `72? Stepside when I was a kid. Sissy. I pulled up on a customer the other day and tried to buy his 1310 off of him point blank. He wasn't having it.

  17. I know a couple of people who have fired the new Cobra and say they work well. But everyone I've talked to has remarked about the poor quality finish. I know Colt can't afford to finish them like the Cobras of the 1970s, but for the money they are charging its inexcusable for the guns to look like they do. Cheers, Whisper

  18. Sandstorm by James Rollins. This the first in his Sigma Force series. I actually discovered this series in the middle, have read several of them and now I'm going back to the beginning to see how it all started. Synopsis: Sigma force is a black ops division of DARPA which investigates threats of a scientific nature. Basically, its scientists with guns. Rollins is an excellent writer. His science and history are both accurate and sound, plots plausible and his style keeps you enthralled. I highly recommend them.

  20. The stories of IH going down are something to behold. I have a friend who owned a dealership when they went belly up. Their board kept everything pretty secret - and it went down really fast. He went from a having thriving farm implements business to bankrupt overnight.

  21. I have a heavily modified stock powerplant Sportster of recent iteration. It is a great bike. I went style over substance and it sucks for more than an hour in the saddle. A proper seat and I would change my opinion. I personally prefer the light weight, nimbleness and narrow width of a Sporty. I ride it like I stole it.
