  3. I saw that. Media is already all over it. Initial reports talk about a shotgun. If a kid can walk into a school carrying a shotgun, security is probably not being implemented at all.

  4. Almost but not entirely. USMC Spec Ops bought Colt M45A1 CQB 1911's. A little over a year ago USMC sent 1000 of these pistols back to Colt to be replaced by the same model but with a different coating. They did not like the way the cerakote held up. Of the 1000 pistols, 477 were carried in theater by spec op groups and 523 sat in their armory and were not issued. I was lucky enough to be able to buy one of each. Here is a pic of the one carried by a Marine and the letter from Colt authenticating the pistol.

  5. It is easier to point at the tool used then admit the liberals policies over the last few decades have failed rather badly. Everyone wins, timeouts, safe spaces, gun free zones, all a bunch of liberal gibberish that failed. Now we have the hard task of taking back our society and schools. That will not be easy or quick. Sad it got this far but there are a lot of folks to blame.

  8. Good for her. http://insider.foxnews.com/2018/05/17/kent-state-graduates-gun-photo-goes-viral-fox-friends-interview A recent Kent State University graduate is going viral for taking aim at her school’s gun policies in a photo shoot on campus where she carried an AR-10 and a graduation cap that said, “Come and take it.” Kaitlin Bennett, 22, posed in front of the Kent Student Center to draw attention to the "insulting" gun policies on campus that allow guests to open carry, but not students. Now that I graduated from Kent State, I can finally arm myself on campus. I should have been able to do so as a student- especially since 4 unarmed students were shot and killed by the government on this campus. I have no apologies for my graduation photos. As a woman, I refuse to be a victim & the second amendment ensures that I don't have to be. "If guests can arm themselves and protect themselves, I should be able to as well," Bennett said on "Fox & Friends."

  9. Hi folks. As you probably figured out my name is Robb and I’m from NC. We semi-moved to Eastern TN a little over a year ago. Grew up hunting and shooting on a family farm which we now own and started reloading when I was 19. I worked with a guy back then who threw a handgun hankering on me and I’ve had it ever since. I’m partial to revolvers, esp single actions, but I’ve held a couple auto loaders over the years. For long guns I like old blued steel and wood .22s and M1 Garands. Most all of my toys are back at the farm but we are planning/hoping to spend more time here. I’ll be honest and say I’m more apt to sit and read rather than post much. I’ll throw when I can. Thanks for letting me hang around.

  10. I agree this is a lot of work. I looked into it all when tgey first announced them. You would think they were selling them for $200 on a Black Friday Special to require this much. I would have to join a club that I might never use just to be eligible. I would like one, but I doubt I would shell out the cash. I am not really a collector though. Plus if I bought it, I would feel obligated not to resell it at a profit after that much work even if I could.

  11. Another thing to consider but not entirely related to provenance for those interested is the military stopped buying 1911’s at the end of WWII. As in all contracts were cancelled at the end of the war, just like with M1 Carbines. Those old pistols remained in service until the Beretta was adopted in the 80’s.

  12. There is no way at all to determine that unless you find one a GI stuffed into his duffel bag on the way home and he actually documented it convincingly. I have no idea how the US supply chain works but I do know that any records that where kept regarding such things are long gone. The US military also had an annoying habit (to collectors) of mass rearsenalling or maintaining weapons, even during conflict, literally just after battles, by dissassabling bunches of weapons and throwing all the parts into this bin or that for the next guy to clean and inspect, then to next to reassemble. Euopean military weapons generally had the serial number or a portion of it stamped on every major component. They were much better about keeping things together.

  14. The banning of importing some of the Russian stuff hurt AKs and overflowed to hurt SKSs. I have all 3 mentioned. I like them all. If it comes down to a cash decision, I agree the AR is it in the semi auto. You can find fully assembled new ones at less that $400 before taxes and fees from makers like PSA, DPMS, and others. Plus ammo is reasonable. There are also bolt actions like some of the Savage models that are nice for the low end.

  18. The hose storage is actually more of a pain. It creates memory in the hose, so it wants to kink. I have gone back to just coiling mine in 4-5' loops. As others have said, if I had it to do over, I would just buy an electric washer, and rent a gas one for the odd job that the electric couldn't handle. I find myself using the electric a lot more often, just because it is much easier to setup, quieter, etc.

  19. I went through a bunch of IWB holsters for my Glock 19 until I found TT GunLeather. I have the Mike's Special and it is perfect. Milt Sparks holsters were close, but the TT carries the pistol lower in the waist band which I prefer.

  21. Honestly , I currently own one but would suggest to most people to rent one instead of buying . It’s the kind of equipment you use once a year and they have a tendency not to like to be sitting around unused for a year . So my experience has been that renting one the one day a year would have been far cheaper than parts , maintenance and original cost of purchasing. Combine that with the fact that the rental machines are generally far better machines than most will buy for personal use , it’s a no brainer to me . I was literally just having this conversation with my wife yesterday.

  22. It's interesting to note that this TRP with RMR doesn't have a picatinny rail on the frame. The non-RMR does. This makes zero sense to me. I prefer a weapon-mounted light on my carry guns, and the TRP designation (Tactical Response Pistol) would seem to demand for a rail. I will be completely honest and say that in my excitement over this new model, I didn't even notice the lack of the rail until my buddy, Mark, pointed it out on the podcast episode that will be released later today. When he said it, I did a double-take and was immediately confused by what I saw. Weird, Springfield. Really weird.

  23. As already stated, we need to know the intended use. But, as also stated, you can't go wrong with a good .22. Everybody should have at least one good .22 rifle.

  24. I'm going to suggest that he start at the beginning. For most people, that means a 22 rifle. Since you already have some experience with firearms, I'll suggest either the Ruger 10/22 semi-auto, or the Savage MKII bolt-action. Both are well made, reliable, and will give good service. Another factor is that both of those rifles are inexpensive (under $300) and can be easily sold if you loose interest. A 22 rifle will be welcome at any shooting range, even indoor pistol ranges. Start there. It's where we all started. And you never outgrow a good 22 rifle. No matter what other guns I take to the range, a 22 rifle will be in the group.
