I received this email from Mossberg this afternoon. Mossberg® Terminates Relationship with Dick’s Sporting Goods NORTH HAVEN, CT – O.F. Mossberg & Sons, Inc., a leading American firearms manufacturer, announced today its decision to discontinue selling products to Dick’s Sporting Goods, and its subsidiary, Field & Stream, in response to their hiring of gun control lobbyists in April 2018. Effective immediately, O.F. Mossberg & Sons will not accept any future orders from Dick’s Sporting Goods or Field & Stream, and is in the process of evaluating current contractual agreements. “It has come to our attention that Dick’s Sporting Goods recently hired lobbyists on Capitol Hill to promote additional gun control.” said Iver Mossberg, Chief Executive Officer of O.F. Mossberg & Sons. “Make no mistake, Mossberg is a staunch supporter of the U.S. Constitution and our Second Amendment rights, and we fully disagree with Dick’s Sporting Goods’ recent anti-Second Amendment actions.” Consumers are urged to visit one of the thousands of pro-Second Amendment firearm retailers to make their purchases of Mossberg and Maverick® firearms. Firearm retailers can be found through the Mossberg Dealer Locator by visiting http://www.mossberg.com/dealers/. About O.F. Mossberg & Sons, Inc. Founded in 1919, O.F. Mossberg & Sons, Inc. is the oldest family-owned firearms manufacturer in America, and is the largest pump-action shotgun manufacturer in the world. Leading the way with over 100 design and utility patents to its credit, and standing as the first ISO 9001 Certified long-gun manufacturer, Mossberg is considered to be one of the most innovative firearms manufacturers in U.S. History. I'm going to suggest that he start at the beginning. For most people, that means a 22 rifle. Since you already have some experience with firearms, I'll suggest either the Ruger 10/22 semi-auto, or the Savage MKII bolt-action. Both are well made, reliable, and will give good service. Another factor is that both of those rifles are inexpensive (under $300) and can be easily sold if you loose interest. A 22 rifle will be welcome at any shooting range, even indoor pistol ranges. Start there. It's where we all started. And you never outgrow a good 22 rifle. No matter what other guns I take to the range, a 22 rifle will be in the group.3 points

I enjoyed the May newsletter and can see where it will be even better in the future. Can you explain a bit more about the sponsorship aspect as to who can do it, cost and any other pertinent info? Thanks!2 points

Clean up that spare, make sure there's no old gas in it, and toss it on a shelf somewhere. Just having it guarantees you'll never need it....2 points

Interesting post. It seems that the left does not hold a monopoly on specious interpretations of the Constitution ...1 point

Thank you. I hope to include some information on activities for your children in shooting/hunting/outdoors activities each month. I think it's very important to teach our children about responsible firearms ownership and include them in our hobbies in general. If you have any suggestions or activities that I might include in future months I'd love to hear them.1 point

All; After reviewing the metrics and looking once again at how I can ensure that I am able to provide the most stable and consistent experience to our members regardless of what platform they are using to visit the site, I am making the decision to no longer participate in the Tapatalk network. The recent software upgrade from IPBoard once again broke Tapatalk and the Tapatalk developers were once again incredibly slow to keep up with the IPBoard development cycle. I've never allowed Tapatalk to delay the installation of critical security fixes on TGO's software, and have rarely allowed it to delay us from using newer and more improved versions of our software. It is perhaps helpful to put this into perspective: TGO does not run on Tapatalk. TGO runs on IPBoard. Tapatalk wasn't our platform, it was a convenience and for a few years a bit of a necessity until IPBoard caught up with mobile technology. The developers of IPBoard have made tremendous headway in providing a feature-rich and easy to use mobile version of the software, which functions great inside of your phone's mobile browser whether you are using an Apple iOS device or an Android device. Foregoing that in favor of third party software which isn't kept up to date and which doesn't bring to you all of the features of the native IPBoard software is allowing the tail to wag the dog, and just doesn't make any sense to me. I am seeing quite a few other large forums making the same decision to abandon Tapatalk. Third Party software, such as Tapatalk, are losing market share as forum software authors are getting better at making their software better on mobile devices. My apologies to those who prefer Tapatalk. I hope that you will give TGO a shot using your phone's browser instead. If you don't, we will miss you but TGO will still go on. --David1 point

I too fear Tapatalk (and similar software) is on its way out and fast. At this point, TGO is the second forum that I use in the last month or two to abandon it. Shame really, because it did have a lot to offer. Oh well, the decision will make your life easier. Removing it (Tapatalk) from my iPhone right now, it's useless to me at this point. It was sweet when it lasted...1 point

Also, the 2nd or 4th Amendment are 100% irrelevant when dealing with private companies. These Amendments, as well as the Constitution as a whole, are for keeping government in check. If a shipping company states that they will not ship firearms, that is not an infringement of anyone's rights. If a shipping company wants to open every single package before shipping, that is not an infringement upon a 4th Amendment right. In fact, I would suspect that the TOS of all shipping companies state that they reserve the right to inspect any and all packages if they wish. This is the same concept that the majority of those employed wave most rights to privacy at a workplace. Employers can come and search your office, company vehicle, and in many cases your personal bags and vehicles. Not a violation of the 4th Amendment, unless theoretically you work for the Federal Government (that would be an interesting debate).1 point

UPS has a new policy regarding packages brought to a customer counter to be shipped. It does not include packages with prepaid or customer generated labels. UPS personnel must see the contents of the package before it is sealed (or after if the customer is willing to open it). This policy was implemented after the Austin, TX/FedEx bombings and has nothing to do with guns. I don't see any mention of it on the UPS website, but customer counters have begun displaying signage explaining it. If FedEx hasn't' implemented a similar policy, I bet they will soon. On a side note, the UPS Stores, which are independently owned franchises, do not ship firearms.1 point

I would contact an attorney and have it done correctly to Tennessee standards. Not that Legal Zoom wills are not valid or couldn't stand up to scrutiny, but why take a chance? BTW, there is more than just a will to consider, there is a living will, general durable power of attorney, and power of attorney for health care decisions. Those are the big 4. Not saying you need all those at this time or in the near future, but something to think about...regardless of marital status.1 point

I too enjoyed reading some good news. I have been active in 4-H shooting sports for almost 10 years. My daughter as well was very active in youth shooting sports and a youth leader at Target Smart Camp a few years ago before she all growed up and went off to college. Thanks for the plug!1 point

I picked a mess of poke sallet today on a jobsite, and plan to cook it as a side dish for dinner tonight. We all love the stuff. It isn't very long before it gets too big to pick and eat. Anybody else here like it?0 points
