  1. Thanks for the kind words. My wife did all of the research and put that newsletter together after hearing my lament, one too many times, that I really needed to do a newsletter for TGO. She'll be happy to hear that it was well received.

  2. Avoid the D's? Don't go dumb places with dumb people doing dumb stuff at dumb hours.

  3. All; After reviewing the metrics and looking once again at how I can ensure that I am able to provide the most stable and consistent experience to our members regardless of what platform they are using to visit the site, I am making the decision to no longer participate in the Tapatalk network. The recent software upgrade from IPBoard once again broke Tapatalk and the Tapatalk developers were once again incredibly slow to keep up with the IPBoard development cycle. I've never allowed Tapatalk to delay the installation of critical security fixes on TGO's software, and have rarely allowed it to delay us from using newer and more improved versions of our software. It is perhaps helpful to put this into perspective: TGO does not run on Tapatalk. TGO runs on IPBoard. Tapatalk wasn't our platform, it was a convenience and for a few years a bit of a necessity until IPBoard caught up with mobile technology. The developers of IPBoard have made tremendous headway in providing a feature-rich and easy to use mobile version of the software, which functions great inside of your phone's mobile browser whether you are using an Apple iOS device or an Android device. Foregoing that in favor of third party software which isn't kept up to date and which doesn't bring to you all of the features of the native IPBoard software is allowing the tail to wag the dog, and just doesn't make any sense to me. I am seeing quite a few other large forums making the same decision to abandon Tapatalk. Third Party software, such as Tapatalk, are losing market share as forum software authors are getting better at making their software better on mobile devices. My apologies to those who prefer Tapatalk. I hope that you will give TGO a shot using your phone's browser instead. If you don't, we will miss you but TGO will still go on. --David

  4. I would contact an attorney and have it done correctly to Tennessee standards. Not that Legal Zoom wills are not valid or couldn't stand up to scrutiny, but why take a chance? BTW, there is more than just a will to consider, there is a living will, general durable power of attorney, and power of attorney for health care decisions. Those are the big 4. Not saying you need all those at this time or in the near future, but something to think about...regardless of marital status.

  5. The Constitution has a clause precluding private companies from enacting policies on how you ship things? That's one I never learned in school ...

  6. @TGO David not sure why I didn't receive it. I looked at settings on my account. Can you see if I missed something? Would love to get a link to read it.

  9. I use USPS for long guns. My local office has never asked me to open up a box to inspect the rifle. YMMV

  11. You mentioned that when she was younger she enjoyed shooting guns. Now she is a college graduate and wants nothing to do with guns. You might want spend some sometime talking with her and reminding her of how much she enjoyed shooting when she was younger and see if she will open up as to what has turned her against guns. Once you learn why she has gone from liking something to not liking something and wanting to move to Chicago might be an indication her political issues may have changed also. You might get some insight on how to approach the issue now..............JMHO

  12. They didn’t ask or say if there was a difference, I have an update I talked to the gunsmith who was real nice and everything and he explained what he did and he said the barrel was really dirty and that it took a long time to clean and he asked me what was wrong and I mentioned the gas tube and piston, I didn’t get the chance to say about other areas that were dirty but that’s okay for now, anyway he took it to the back and cleaned it and drilled the smaller port open as apparently in the past the piston some how got bent and was getting stick in the tube, he also didn’t charge me anything for this and before I left I bought a ammo can and a patch and off topic but when I got there and on my way in I think I saw a member of tgo as he had one of those fancy cups with the tgo logo on it

  13. I wouldn't even consider taking a gun to Chicago. The laws there are so screwed up, I don't think even they understand them. It would just be asking for trouble. Besides, she doesn't want the gun anyway.

  15. Took it to the range today. I was a little concerned, reading of many failures to return to battery, and the slide on mine is way tight! But I shot over 200 rounds with nary an issue! I found it quick to get a sight picture, triggervwas great, and I could hold on to it just fine with e stock ten round mags. I’ve got 5 more mags, 12 rounders, coming in Monday or Tuesday. Because of the issue I saw online, I’m still not ready to trust it as an edc, so next week, I’m putting another couple hundred rounds through it and if that works out I’ll be carrying that sucker every day! BTW, the mags are expensive most everywhere, but I got some 12 round mags at brownells.com for 35.99 each.

  16. I picked one up at Academy by accident. They had just got it in, I was there, money gone. Only $499. Very sweet shooter. Extremely accurate, even at 10 yards.

  17. You may also need a tuner to pull in the signal from the antenna. It depends on your TV - the guts in it and how old it is. Back when they forced tv stations to convert over to digital, most TV's wouldn't get the signal. The USGov was handing out rebates if you went out and bought a special tuner. It was kinda like a cable box you hooked to your tv; it got the signal and passed it to the TV over the cable input, or an HDMI connection, or whatever. They stopped with the rebates a long time ago, but if memory serves, those boxes are about $50. If your TV does not have a digital tuner built in, you'll need one of these boxes. You should be able to test your TV with just a set of rabbit ears. They should be strong enough to pick up at least the closest station. If you like projects, look up DIY TV antennae's. There are bunches of them out there, and you can make them literally out of scrap you have around the garage, and a $2 connector from Home Depot. I've seen ones that use coat hangers, screws and a 1x4. And they perform as well or better than a store bought one.

  18. I have a really close friend who lives in Chitown. He lives in a good area. He said he rarely if ever has any issues or feels unsafe. I am happy for him. I make him come visit me.

  19. Do not depend on it to make a Rattler or Copperhead safe to go near it. Several years ago a couple contractors I was working with in Cheatam County had a Rattler slither by and rested under a small pine. They were afraid to work so I got a 20ga with #6 and shot it in the head at ten yards. The neighbor driving by seen it a six footer on road and asked for it to eat and make a belt. Although dead it managed to strike and sink its fangs into his jeans twice, lucky he held it by the tail and it was upside down striking an did not get skin. I was told the only thing to do is cut off head, but mouth will open and close on you for a few hours.
