It’s not a win. I don’t need an FFL transfer to cover my ass on a firearm sale; I’m fully capable of doing that without adding any cost. I’m absolutely sure background checks are not going to keep killers from getting guns. Most of the mass killers we have seen so far either passed a background check to get their guns, or they would have. I’m also pretty sure background checks will become a Federal requirement on private gun sales unless they are ruled unconstitutional. However, this is 2018; there is no reason to require going to and paying an FFL for what amounts to a criminal background check. I expect it to be done online and I expect it to be done for free. It’s already just a feel good move that will do nothing; it doesn’t need to be a money grab also. My local FFL needs to make his money by selling product; not getting a free handout from the government.7 points

So it is no secret that my heathen was raised around guns. She has been shooting since she was four years old. She started with a single shot bolt action .22 rimfire rifle and has progressed to where she can and does shoot an AR at the range. As she turned 9 last year she was eligible for 4H Shooting Sports this season. We signed her up and her first practice was in April. At her very first practice her coach inquired as to her experience shooting. I explained that she had a handful of years under her and I hoped he didn't have to unteach too much of what I had taught her. To my mild surprise he stated that she was a pure natural and asked if she would be interested in shooting the first match of the season, less than two months away. The Heathen is right handed, but left eye dominant. I have raised her to shoot left handed rifle. I am also cross dominant and it has never hindered me to shoot off-hand to my dominant eye. The coaches embraced this and let her do her own thing. They are all very impressed with her. They call her a natural and have been teaching her on Target Air Rifle, Sport Air Rifle, Target .22 and Sport .22. She also shoots archery. With a recurve. Nearly alone in that discipline as nearly everyone else shoots compound (bare, hunting and target.) The coaches are awesome, and have gone as far as to special order her a left handed Target Air Rifle and a left handed Target .22. They have that much faith in her talent. And on to that talent. Saturday was a dreary rainy day in Kentucky. But it didn't stop her. It was her first competition with less than two months experience on a Target Air Rifle. She placed 3rd. We are beyond thrilled.2 points

I have sold off all of my 10mm 1911s but this has got me excited about adding one back to the stable.2 points

I am not sure exactly how much Springfield supplied Dick's in the first place. http://gunsgeardaily.wpengine.com/springfield-armory-cuts-dicks-off/ In a surprising move that is sure to get the full attention of the expected 20,000 protesters here at the NRAAM in Dallas, Springfield Armory has chosen to sever ties with Dick’s Sporting Goods, in a counter move to support 2nd Amendment rights.41 point

I speak as a guy that was in general not an M&P fan. That changed when the .45 Shield appeared. Dumped my G36 for one, and never regretted it. I would pick the Shield over the 43, easily.1 point

So the onus is on the seller to maintain records on himself?..pass.1 point

FOID...unless you have identified yourself, how would that absolve you? If you identify yourself, then it has just made a defacto registration of a transfer, and it must save it otherwise how would they check? Nope, not a fan of anything like that.1 point

Picked up and loaded hundreds if not thousand of the brass out of glocks. Never had an issue.1 point

Thanks for your reply, Mike. Actually, I was shooting only one kind of ammo. The front sight would only screw down so far, before extreme binding. There's an open hole below it, so I don't understand why it can't be screwed down lower. I had actually thought about filing some off of the top, but did not want to modify the front sight post. I just thought that maybe others had had the same problem.1 point

About 14 months ago, my wife bought a 13 gal fishtank and 4 starter goldfish. Had pretty good luck, though goldfish are not optimal for a long term aquarium. I decided to upgrade to a 29 gal tank. Traded in the now 5" voracious goldfish and started stocking with a baby bristlenose pleco and 3 zebra danios to cycle the tank. Went all plastic plants to reduce algae opportunity and installed an under gravel filter system. Next weekend, I'll add 3 more zebras. Once that school is established, Mrs. GtG wants a school of 6 harelequin rasboras and Glofish brand white skirt tetras.1 point

Tennessee would do much better if people from up North that plan on moving south to Tennessee leave everything they have that is blue including their voting and politics in the state they are moving from. Problem is many of them bring the Blues with them!!!! All I can say is if any Yankees are moving here to escape the dictatorship state they are now living in leave all of that behind when you move.1 point

Probably just trying anything to reverse this. They've been in a downward spiral for some time.1 point

Yeah. Their gun sales were tiny here too. But, they weren't pissing anybody off then. They are now. We'll see how it shakes out. I will never spend another penny with them. I would when they were just a crappy gun store.1 point

Nope, just another win for the gun-control crowd that pushes another encumbrance upon the average law-abiding citizen along with the other draconian procedures. We have enough problems without eating our own.1 point

As I’ve said before, the Dick’s I used to frequent when they sold guns & ammo, and got some great deals, stopped selling all such thing years ago. Long before this foolishness. Their business does not seem to be hurting at all with all the soccer moms, dads, and other assorted people shoppping there for whatever. There is a fully stocked Academy just a couple of miles away.1 point

My wife does as well. Better bring your CDs. If you ever plan, or think there is even the slightest possibility of needing to commute to Nashville, don’t move anywhere off I24 south east of Nashville. Im off I40 30 miles east from the center of Nashville, where I work, and my commute is 50-60mins. People who commute on I24 laugh at me like I’m a child when I complain about my commute.1 point

The p365 hasn't been on my radar at all to be honest, but after holding on today at the NRA show it definitely got my attention. That capacity in such a small package was pretty cool.1 point

No need to feel bad for recognizing that, gentlemen. I was afraid that I was the only one who had a sudden craving for a Crabby Patty. ;)1 point

That was an expensive range trip. S&W M&P 22 Compact. She can load it herself, work the slide herself and clear malfunctions as the range rental was filthy and would fail to feed every dozen or so rounds. After 100 rounds (and our hour) she begged me to buy one for her. She was grumpy when I told her we were going shooting, but after she beat me at Battleship (with highly skewed rules that changed every shot...) she has been pretty pleased with herself.1 point
