  1. In nature, an oyster is able to expel 99.9% of the sand that enters it's shell. It is that one tiny grain of sand that irritates the oyster. In response, the oyster begins to bathe that irritant with a liquid and ultimately, the liquid coating hardens and becomes a pearl. Once the pearl is formed, the oyster doesn't stop, it's continues to add to the protective coating. If you subscribe to God and creation, consider this; in all of God's perfection in the universe, is one small tiny irritant to God, the sin which makes this the imperfect world on which we reside. So like the pearl, God bathes the world with liquid in the form of the blood of Christ to protect it from the irritant. Within me, that same liquid washes away my sin and I believe if I keep my eye on the prize, like the pearl, that liquid will continue to flow and harden to become my growing armor of faith. Please Lord, help me to be a beacon of light in the darkness, protect me from myself and hypocrisy, that my thoughts be upon you, and that others can see Jesus Christ reflected in my words and actions.

  2. Kudos to Kyle for grace under pressure. I hope his parents burn those guys to the ground for questioning a minor without a parent or counsel present. For all the talk about bullying these days, that's exactly what they tried to do. I'd guess anything he said would be inadmissible given the method in which in he was questioned. Reminds me (and other parents, I hope) to talk to my kids about that and make certain they know they're not obligated to say anything at all without a parent present.

  4. As a matter of interest, the K-38 indicated a K-Framed .38 Special revolver with target sights. The original was the K-38 Masterpiece, a 6" barreled target grade revolver. There was then a K-22 and a K-32 Masterpiece, .22 and .32 caliber respectively. Then came the 4" K-38 Combat Masterpiece. In .357 Magnum it became the Combat Magnum, and in L-Framed .357 Magnum, the Distinguished Combat Magnum. This was the way they were designated prior to the recent Model Numbering system. The Model numbers originally consisted of frame and bore size, as N-430 for the .44 Hand Ejector, and N-430-T for the 1926 .44 Special target model. Bob Wright

  6. No, but also don't strive to go to another system that would be worse. Would not want to end up like those other failed countries. I prefer sticking to our roots so to speak, IMHO the Constitution and Bill of Rights is just fine as is, quit trying to muck with it.

  7. Considering that the usher at Barnett Chaple church did just that , I’d say no. Definitely a difference in the way they’ve been covered. The church shooting didn’t fit the narrative, so it was largely ignored, relatively speaking. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  10. That useless POS for a sheriff and those that questioned this kid need to get a life....outside of law enforcement. Perhaps this lad shouldn't even been questioned without his parents or a lawyer present. There seems sooo many things wrong with this picture.

  11. A classic passive aggressive post that says: I got nothing, but personal attacks I can do. This is your first post in this thread, so what does that say about you?

  13. Well, your experience is different than mine. I’ve never had any problem at Academy or with any of their policies. When ammunition was nearly impossible to find, academy still kept the prices cheap and kept as much available as possible. I’m not 100% sure I trust all of the sources Of the links you shared. However, you have your reasons for believing that you do and I respect that.Of the links you shared. However, you have your reasons for believing that you do and I respect that.

  16. Old news. Academy is still the only big box retailer in this market that sells modern sporting rifles...and what a stupid gun-culture PC term that is for assault rifles, lol.

  17. Having a stuck case commonly happens in rifle classes, because we leave our rifles loaded all-day.

  18. What’s wrong with SA and Academy? While I have no problem with steel-cased ammo in an AR, it’s not just lacquer coated ammo that will lock it up. Mine froze on a poly cased round after I let it sit around too long in a hot chamber. If you don’t keep one of those rounds lingering in a hot rifle so the coating melts then it’s not a problem. Pay special extra attention to cleaning he chamber after using coated ammo. It’s just another minute with some Hoppe’s to get rid of it.

  22. I don't know what "mistakes" you're talking about. Reinking never committed any violent crimes before this (that we know of). Illinois revoked his FOID because the FBI told them to after his White House trespassing, but Illinois had no right to seize his property. He wasn't a convicted felon. If anyone dropped the ball on this one it was his father and any psych doctors who determined him sane, but even that's a sticky one because he may have been in his right mind and fully functional during his psych evals. Mental illness is difficult like that.

  23. I saw one of the IL law enforcement folks on the news last night. He said what I was thinking was the case: They had no right to seize the firearms any more than they had the right to enter the home and seize the refrigerator. The son had not been charged (much less convicted) of a crime warranting the seizure of his firearms. But his FOID was revoked so they couldn't give them back so they gave them to a family member. Think about our good buddy Voldemort. He had his HCP suspended because he showed what a judge (or TDOS official, not sure on the specifics) thought to be poor decision making in public with firearms. But his firearms weren't seized because he wasn't charged with or convicted of a felony. What I'm still unsure of is if the father violated any ATF regulations. I think it's going to come down to who actually owned the firearms and where the transfer of possession took place. I'm also not sure the son would qualify as a "prohibited person" under Fed laws. They couldn't give to flips about whether or not Illinois revoked his state FOID card. Form 4473 Question 11.f says: I've not heard any reports saying either of those is true. The civil suits will be brutal though. Negligence is going to be easy to prove in this one.

  26. This is one of the problems. At what point do you deny someone a constitutional right for the rest of their life? It’s really easy to say “ he had an interaction with the police , take them away “. Does that mean any and all interactions with police remove constitutional requirements rights ? Traffic stop ??? What about a cop who you pissed off? Can he interact with you and have your rights revoked indefinitely? Mental health is another slippery slope . What point is someone considered so mentally ill they no longer can ever have rights ? Even psychiatrists don’t know the answer to this question. They have people with mental illness get better all the time . How do they decide which patients will never get better ? Are they now the final arbiters of constitutional rights ? These are very difficult questions to answer even though the knee jerk reaction is as stated above .

I have no idea when that dang box will reach capacity but given that he is downstairs at the moment with a grinder, I am not getting my hopes up anytime soon. I was on Buds the other day and he reprimanded me for looking! I think he is trying to save the $$ for tools and I am not gonna be down for that. LOL

  32. The bathtub protects from both grenades AND falling industrial light fixtures! Good to know. In reality, even an iron one doesn't do much but if it can take some of the energy off the bullet/frag then maybe it might make a hit more survivable? I guess it depends on what the shooter is using. Like most cover I'd guess it might stop or slow a .22 enough, but not going to do a whole lot against a .50 BMG with everything else falling somewhere in between.

Anyone who opted to sit this one out for any reason other than having to meet other obligations first, should just hate themselves for skipping it. I am completely blown away by the quality of this knife. Wow. Just wow.
