  1. Last night I was tired and chose the wrong word "hypocrite" when I should have said inconsistent. Let me reword my post as follows. If we believe that law-abiding, HCP holders should be allowed to carry in school zones, then it is inconsistent to argue that teachers should not be allowed to carry in school zones. Those who argue that teachers should not be allowed to carry are using the same argument that anti-gun protesters are saying about allowing HCP permits to carry in restaurants. Anti-gunners say that allowing HCPers to go everywhere will turn restaurants, public events, etc into wild west shootouts and people will be shooting themselves. Amazingly, some pro-gun advocates are using the same argument against allowing teachers to go armed. We need to be consistent.

  2. My suggestion would be to constantly engage on a civil level on an ongoing basis. I’ve been watching both sides calling names and being reactionary after every crisis. Try engaging when there is no crisis. Emotions are high right now, and no one wants to hear what the other side has to say. There are people totally opposed to guns, and no amount of fund raising or reasoning is going to change their minds. I’m the forum liberal and I’ve had “friends” mock me about gun ownership. I don’t think it’s anyone that I know on this forum, but when we have supporters of the Second Amendment having rallies and open carrying, which is their right in some places, it terrifies hippies. They don’t want to see anyone with guns except the police and military. My opinion is that if we ever get to that place, we may as well be prepared to surrender all of our rights.

  5. I fished the Semi-Pro Bass Fishing tour about 23 years and all my sponsors kept me supplied in hats plus people gave us hats in every town we fished in and I actually bought a couple over the years plus I have about 15 NRA hats and about 25 Skeeter Bass Boat hats alone and all my bait sponsors kept me wearing their hats so yea I got plenty of them. As far as displaying any, the only one I display is the one on my head when I go out some place. I had so many boxes of hats I have to store some of them at my SIL's house in a closet. I didn't realize I had so many till last time I moved and about every box I picked up to put in the truck said Hats on top of it. I'm gonna look next time I go to my SIL's house for my box of Budweiser Hats. I have a full box of them as I had a buddy/bait customer that was the advertising supervisor at Bud in St Louis for 26 years and every time he sent me a check for baits it came in a box with a Budweiser Cap. I have a guy that said he would like to buy the box of Budweiser hats if they have never been worn and made me a very handsome offer for them..............

  6. Good grief that’s a lot of lids. Do you put any on display on the dashboard or in the back window of your ride? It’s something I never understood so serious question.

  7. I have about 175-200 different ball caps that I collected over my many years of tour fishing tournaments and I have boxes of them never worn. Just stored in boxes. I do have 2 hat racks in my living room with about 25 hats between them hanging that I wear. I feel naked if I go out with out a ball cap on. And the brim or bill of the hat keeps the sun out of my eyes and not off the back of my neck or either one of my ears!!!!

  13. Need a lot more of that. The cop killer in Hopkinsville got his justice too, in Clarksville. Cops snuffed his wick out.

  16. You're right. I don't think we're going to convince those that just simply hate guns though. It's the reasonable people in the middle that we stand a chance to engage with.

  17. We have to continue to engage in the debate, regardless of the lack of logic. If we don't, we'll lose by forfeit. They won't accept the logic the first time or the second time. Keep going. Maybe the light will come on the 22nd time. Its said to take 10,000 repetitions to for a skill to no longer require conscious thought. We can't get angry or frustrated, and we can't relent. As my old wrestling coach used to say... constant pressure, never let up, never give them a moment to breathe and recover. Use their own tactics against them.

  18. This is why the pro-gun movement is doomed. We cannot even agree to allow teachers to voluntarily carry guns, for Chrissake! We should all get behind allowing teachers to be armed. Period. I cannot believe that so many pro-gun advocates are SCARED TO DEATH OF SOMEONE ELSE CARRYING A GUN! Sure, it's okay if you carry a gun in a school.... it's your right, but you don't want teachers to carry in schools. Don't you see the hypocrisy in that position?

  19. Not bad. I’m currently involved in a debate with a bunch of anti-gun folks. I’m just trying to get them to drop the code speak. Be honest about what you want. I am. Even if we will never see eye to eye, we can at least understand where the other is really coming from because the code words mean different things to them and us.

  22. A chain is only as strong as it's weakest link. If one link thinks it's ok to be told, or tell someone else what we/they may own/need...then that's a weak link in the chain. The chain weakens when we all do not stand together. Whether or not you own, or personally like a product or a particular firearm; when we sacrifice unity, we all lose. Perhaps the term "traitor" to the cause here is a bit harsh, but the spirit of the statement I think is true. We must pull together with a united front on these issues. If we give in on one item, that just empowers the other side to scream for more surrendering of items and rights. Whether we all embrace a particular item or not, that unity is very important. Stand together guys. For all our sakes.

  23. I am not going to tolerate anyone on TGO, moderator or otherwise, attacking someone personally rather than attacking the position that they hold. @jgradyc, you have my apologies. I don't necessarily agree with your stance, but that does not make you a traitor. That language is extremely strong.

  24. I agree on the uselessness of them, but not on the banning of them. Who are we to tell others what to have fun with. I also view those exploding targets as dangerous exploding toys, but would not want them banned. Same goes for many firearms out there to one sector or another, do we really want to go down that road?

  25. I think my range bag is too full. I'm a belt and suspenders type of guy so I pack stuff in there just in case. Here is what is in there: 2 sets of earmuffs readers - cant see close without them 5 pairs of safety glasses binoculars chamber flags torque wrench set allen wrench set - metric and sae speed loader for pistol mags small ball peen hammer with rubber mallet small screw drivers - slotted and phillips note pad pens sharpie red grease pen stapler staples mini level Otis cable cleaning kit rem oil ziplock bag of various site adjustment tools range finder spotting scope It's a decent size bag. Enough room for 4 pistols and several mags. But I have to carry ammo in a separate bag. Thinking of getting a separate bag for the tools. Over the top? What's in your bag?
