  1. It’s probably worth noting that the folks in pictures like this aren’t spending a lot of time arguing about the ideological purity of the others in the group. I’m supportive of a bunch of different advocacy organizations - and encourage folks to find one that fits them. But we’ve got to stop eating our own. We’re about to need as many people as we can get.

  3. Update....I sent a request to NRA ILA in regards to the total amount donated, membership, etc connected with Mar. 24th. Advised them this request came from members of TGO, and that it was done for support & that we are here & watching. We'll see what, if anything, happens. At the least we tried. I'll post any reply I may get. Larry

  4. The NRA may be far from perfect. And, I question whether or not they’re ready for this next fight. But have no doubt. If you carry a concealed firearm in the United States today, you owe the NRA a debt of gratitude. They’ve been involved in every piece of carry legislation that’s passed in a statehouse in the last 30 years Without their financial backing in cases like Dick Heller’s - we wouldn’t have the rights we do. And, a lot of those victories set precedents that will be hard to overturn. They’re far from perfect. But they’ve moved the ball a long way down the field.

  5. Interesting question that I imagine the answer to is illegal for the simple fact that you would not be in Tennessee. You would be bound by the laws (and other assorted regulations) of the jurisdiction in which you physically were at the time. Best bet would be to head for the border at the same time and do your business or make other similar arrangements.

  6. The above is why I became a lifetime member of the Second Amendment Foundation a while back. Hey, OS...this post was sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk.

  7. I agree on the uselessness of them, but not on the banning of them. Who are we to tell others what to have fun with. I also view those exploding targets as dangerous exploding toys, but would not want them banned. Same goes for many firearms out there to one sector or another, do we really want to go down that road?

  8. That’s a nice one. Since you liked it, you should give some others a try. Oban 14 has gotten to be around $70 - $80, so there are many fine single malt choices in that price range, and quite a few that are substantially cheaper. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  9. The thing about democracy is - and you learn this very quickly in Washington - is that participation matters. Theres a reason that Congress passed the omnibus spending bill without debate and then got the heck out of town - because not a one of them wanted to be there yesterday. Those kids weren’t just protesting Republicans. They were angry at all of them. Regardless, participation matters. And, you better believe Congress was watching. Heck, Marco Rubio is already touting that he voted to fund the CDC doing research on gun violence (snuck into the omnibus bill.) I’m increasingly convinced that there has to be another path aside from this zero sum proxy fight in the culture wars that could lead to another civil war. But, the opposition is looking increasingly united in a way that they haven’t in a long time. And, politicians respond to united - especially when that group can potentially vote for a lot more years than a bunch of us angry old white guys. We’ve got some work ahead of us.

  10. I'm just going to say this and then be done. With the GOP controlling every branch of government we should not have to be be THIS concerned. That alone, is a sad indication of current events. As much as we all hated BHO, I can't recall a single gun related item or accessory he was successful in banning, especially without any grandfather clause. Rand Paul is right, the GOP is a better party when they are fighting for their lives. When in power, they are hard to distinguish from the democrats. The fact that the GOP just rolled over and took this should have us all a bit concerned. Overall I couldn't care less about owning a bump stock but imagine what will be next.

  12. There are very few exceptions, but yes. Outside of a few games, and this is recent, PC gamers play against PC gamers, XBOX against XBOX and PS4 v PS4.

  13. So, I’ll preface this with....I’m asking for a friend.... If one had several of these bump stocks, what is the best thing to do with them? 1) gunbroker 2) sell them on here in the classifieds 3) bury them in the yard 4) mail them to CNN 5) put them in the boat that has all my other guns that might sink in the next storm 6) raffle them at a Friends of NRA event 7) any other ideas? Again, just asking for a friend

  14. I'm not convinced that the bump stock made it anymore lethal than with a standard semi. Maybe because he had little to no training in ARs, but if it were someone with training, I'm sure they could have hit more, many more. If he had put more thought into it, he could have trained at the elevation and distance he wanted to engage at, chosen a heavier caliber and done much more damage. He had the $, he could have purchased an NFA in .308, which would have really made these anti-gun brains implode. Imagine if they knew that with just $200, plus the price of the weapon anyone could get a true automatic.

  15. Scooter, as Greg said, we get it that you're not all that fond of the NRA, for one reason or another. No need to keep repeating yourself. No one is disagreeing that NRA isn't perfect. What you need to understand as well, is the fact, that if not for the NRA, we would be in one hell of a fix right now. Apparently, they have done some good to keep the Libs on their case constantly. You don't hear them on these other mentioned organizations case, so apparently they don't wrinkle the Libs feathers as does the NRA. Personally, I don't agree with all the NRA decisions, but I do realize they are the 800 lb. gorilla in the room. Certainly, you are entitled to your opinion, and you have stated it. Move on please......

  16. The crime occurs at the TN state line, as you many not bring any firearm acquired in another state back into the state of your own residence, except for rifles and shotguns transferred through FFL in the other state. There is no exception in the federal code for same state residents doing personal transaction in a different state from their own. - OS

  17. Back on topic, the NRA is probably best positioned to organize a nation-wide rally in support of the 2nd Amendment. It doesn't even take that much money to organize it, just a nation-wide call to action with (multiple) state-level point of contacts for coordination. Yet the 2A rallies that happened are organized by state-level gun rights groups and not the NRA. They are not widely advertised and many people stay home. We are losing the fight! As for the "money bomb", I have donated several thousand Dollars to the NRA over the past years. I got inaction and outright betrayal on state-level issues, FixNICS, and a bump stock ban in return. Become an NRA member if you want. Become a voting NRA member if you want to change anything. Donating a few Dollars to an organization and sitting on your couch while watching TV and surfing the Internet isn't going to save your rights though!

  20. For all of those throwing up the “no big deal, I don’t care” flag, how many of y’all have AR “pistols”? This exact same reasoning would easily and quite logically apply to a reversal of prior rulings that declared AR/AK/CZ Scorion/whatever utilizing a brace/buffer tube as pistols instead of a short barrel rifle.

  21. The problem with social media is everybody is screaming at each other, uses memes, and calls each other names. There is no serious discussion and facts don't matter.

  22. I would also but odds are we won't hear or get a thank you for your donations or anything else. If we do it will be a shock. Maybe it will spark Chris and Wayne to realize we are watching them and their actions and expecting more in our favor from the NRA than we have been seeing recently. It might even been good to sit down and write them about a million letters expressing out dissappointment in their actions recently and tel them we want to see more support for our donations.........JMHO

  24. Another organization that I have become aware of over the past month is the Firearms Policy Coalition. These folks are giving the NRA hell on social media for the compromises they (the NRA) have been making and are more of a grass-roots, no-compromise organization taking the fight to the courts. If you're looking for an org to throw some money at, they might be up your alley. I kicked in $50 toward their cause. Click the pic...

  25. Which is why the bgc system should not all for serial numbers. Does it matter what the serial number or type of gun the bgc is being ran for? Of course not, so why is it there? Kind of like why we have restrictions on where we can carry. If I am trusted to carry with a permit anywhere why is it restricted anywhere? I get prisons and courtrooms and the like but anything else should be ok. Just another feel good do nothing law that criminals do not care about. Bottom line is the gun haters that are brainwashing people into removing all funds from civilians. Period. They love in a Utopia works where they think this can actually work. If they really cared about the people and kids involved in the violence they would address the root cause. They don't care and use the gun control as a distraction technique. To do otherwise would just prove their ideas on educating the kids and controlling the population failed

  26. That's quite some rewriting of history with regards to Heller. The NRA did not win that case! Alan Gura did! The NRA, early on, refused to help Dick Heller. The NRA even tried to derail Heller: The NRA also tried to derail McDonald, by the way.

  28. Background checks are nothing more than yet another tax on something not supported by our government officials. If I passed the last 100+ NICS checks I've submitted, I'll likely pass the next one, yet they still want that $10. About the only way I see them "improving" NICS is raising the fee from $10 to $20, $50, or $100.

  29. Finally got this bad boy in last night. I won it in a giveaway on ar15.com in January I’m sure some of you saw advertised on Geissele social media. Notice the serial number is SHOT18 for this years shot show. Also the surefire is pinned and welded on the 14.5 inch Daniel Defense so I don’t need to SBR it. Here are the specs: Geissele Lower Geissele URGI Upper with DDC receiver (Daniel Defense 14.5" Gov.Profile 1-7, Surefire SF3P Muzzle Device, Magpul MBUS Pro, New Vortex Crossfire and Geissele mount) B5 Grip & Stock Geissele Super 42 H2 Buffer Geissele SSA-E

  30. I'm sure glad he didn't get that door kicked in with all those police officers out side the door cause the guy with the deer rifle in the house probably would have got arrested. Charged with over-kill of a bad guy. Charged him with using to big a gun to protect his home and himself from harm!!!

  34. Police mention the note, but not specifically what was on it: https://splinternews.com/police-reveal-that-las-vegas-gunman-stephen-paddock-lef-1819168967 It is my understanding that he was only firing for about 10 minutes. It was a good bit before responders arrived on scene. I wonder...purely hypothetical, if he had planned on shooting a bit and then disappear whenever he could, if he could. However, what he did not account for was the fire alarm going off from the smoke. The alarm may have caused him to panic and as such derailed any plans he had.
