  1. 45 years ago my Dad and I were changing out a water heater that was in a closet of his home. While doing this I bumped into the paneling behind the water heater and noticed that it released and one side popped out about an inch. I told my Dad and he explained that it was time to tell me that one day "they" are going to come for our guns and he didn't plan for them to have them. He didn't have many, just your basic rifle, shotgun, and .22 rifle that he kept in a gun cabinet in the den. I don't know that he ever owned a handgun. He doubted that it would happen in his lifetime but felt it may well be in mine, or certainly in my kids lifetime and he planned to leave something behind that they would not be able to get later. I also remember my Grandpa stating that "they" will do in America what Hitler did to the German people some day because "people in power fear those who aren't". My Dad and Grandpa were not avid shooters, they just kept the basic weapons needed for hunting and the occasional bump in the night. They were both honest, hard working, Americans who clung to both their guns and religion and believed in the Constitution, Bill of Rights and Ten Commandments as written. These men passed to me the family name with a reputation of honesty and decency, it's my job to keep it that way, pass it to my son and instill in him the desire to pass it to his children in the same form. I expect my Dad was right, as usual.

  3. Split mine $ between NRA-ILA and GOA. Maybe read a few media stories on the March or watch it before you donate. Guaranteed to up the amount you muster!

  4. I just signed up my 12 year old Grandson and his 23 year old brother with 2 year memberships. I call them both and told them what I was going to do and they both said great and I ask each of them which magazine they wanted to receive. I think they will both receive a duffle bag also but not sure............

  5. The NRA is a black hole with zero accountability. Whatever the fantastic duo, Wayne and Chris, publicly state may or may not be actually true. How come the NRA membership be always be around 5 million, yet we hear constantly that a record number of people are signing up. Either people are leaving the NRA at the same rate they are joining, or the numbers simply don't add up. I am a Life Benefactor Member and have stopped donating to the NRA. I would like to know what they spent my money on. It certainly wasn't to fight the City of Knoxville against the gun ban in Chilhowee Park. They certainly spent it on Dana Loesch's "clenched fist of truth" videos. I didn't sent my money to the NRA to cave on the very few gun rights cases the NRA actually pursues, make backroom deals that trade away my freedoms, produce culture war videos, and pay hefty salaries to the fantastic duo. The NRA has to change. That change should start with the departure of Wayne and Chris.

  7. Oh no! Just when I was getting ready to replace all my Magpul stocks. Pisses me off that they would ban ANYTHING. Just glad it was something that I wouldn't use for free. I know... just the beginning. So, I will reword. At least it's a law I won't have to ignore.

  9. Just joined GOA. As a life member of the NRA, I think my money is better spent with GOA than the NRA. Strangely enough I am starting to think that the NRA is more geared towards the manufacturers than the citizen. The stupid part is, the more you gear the organization towards the citizen, the better off the manufacturers are.

  10. NRA Lifetime member here. None of these organizations are perfect but I would hate to see where we would be without them.

  11. A scope CZ 455 will work. I carry one as my backup match rifle. The CZ shoots just as good as my Anschutz 1712. Standard class the rifle with scope has to be under 10.2 pounds with a safe trigger. Bull barrel is okay in standard class and you can go a little more than a hunting style rifle stock. In the hunter rifle class the rifle with scope has to be under 8 1/2 pounds with a 2 pound or higher trigger pull. Hunter rifle must have a taper barrel and a hunting type stock. There are other things in both classes concerning scope height and type/size of stock/comb/fore end. Most club matches that I have shot over the years don't get to much upset on the little things. They want the new shooters to grow the sport. But, if you go to a State Match, Regional Match, and/or the Nationals your rifle will be checked. Seen many crying because their rifle did not make the rules during inspection. But to get back to your question a CZ 455 will make a good silhouette rifle. Just get the one with the taper barrel, work the trigger to 2.25 pounds, keep weight under 8.5 pounds, and use the factory stock. You can use a Hunter Rifle in the Standard Rifle class.

  17. There is no such thing as a “Gun Show Loophole”. That is the anti-gunners name for a private sale. Whether it be at a gun show, off a forum, or walking down the street the seller can ask for ID and a bill of sale. Nothing ever requires a seller to not ask to see ID and nothing ever releases them from the responsibility to abide by both state and federal laws.

  19. I agree with you. If it had just been up to GOA to defend the Second Amendment, there wouldn't be one right now. The NRA isn't even close to perfect. But, THEY swing the big bat. Nothing against GOA.

  21. Yep and they are all up there in DC for three things! Money, Power and Control. Doing something for the people that elected is a NO NO unless they will make money off of it, Get more power from it and have complete control of it. I look for it to get a whole lot worse before it gets better because the present group of Millinums have an exact Zero clue on what their doing and right now they seem to be gaining control and power quick! I am glad I am old and maybe I won't be alive when they finally destroy the Country I love............JMHO

  26. Just made my donation online. I decided to up my planned contribution by $5, to $30. I was amused that the online response page apparently hasn't been updated since the 2016 election; it still offers thanks for the support in defeating Hillary Clinton. Yep, been there. Cheers, Whisper

  32. And the sad part is this could be fixed fairly easily. It is sad that any citizen of this v country will ever vote for any current politician again. They should all be charged as accomplices in my opinion.

  33. Semi-automatic weapon! Also, given the current anti gun jihad, showing that a semi-automatic firearm can be bump fired even without a bump stock on national TV would just lead to more support for banning semi-automatic firearms. We have lost this fight as we were betrayed by the NRA. The NRA is the very organization that could put out educational videos and run them on national TV, educating the American public on lawful gun ownership. What did we get? The NRA supporting banning bump fire stocks and Dana Loesh's culture war videos with zero pro-gun content. Yeah, we got the "clenched fist of truth". LOL. By the way, The Military Arms Channel already made such a video on YouTube. It is probably about to get banned with YouTube's new anti gun policies, because educating the public with facts is just dangerous. We can tell the Democrats all we want, it's the Republicans that are betraying us and negotiate away our rights. If you think that we have somehow the power to blackmail the Democrats with the voting age, you are wrong. Remember that one from last year's NRA convention?:

  34. I for one firmly believe the purpose and scope of the 2nd amendment is to act as a leash on government, and ensuring the populace has the means, and capability, to defend their freedom against a government who's grown too big for it's britches! If one knows even a smattering of history, then you know it ain't about deer rifles, and if you're paying attention to the news today, you know it's as appropriate as ever!

  36. Look, GOA is a good organization, and I do think they may be support the 2A more than the NRA but the NRA is the 500lb gorilla in the political arena, it's just that their more Grape Ape than King Kong many times. The NRA, GOA, or any other pro 2A organization can't stop the ATF from doing anything in the next 30, 60 or even 90 days, it's up to us gun owners to comment when they open it up for comments, as they must before enacting. Just as they backed off the green tip ammo, they will have to take us into consideration if we come together and fight as one.

  38. I wonder if I paid for one year memberships for say, Anti-Gun groups (You name the group), ACLU, etc. and supplied local office or home office addresses to receive the magazines and of course complimentary caps or duffel, if it would help toward educating them as to the realities of gun ownership and the 2nd Amendment.
