  1. All I can say is Don't Tread on Me. Take it for what it's worth...

  2. 45 years ago my Dad and I were changing out a water heater that was in a closet of his home. While doing this I bumped into the paneling behind the water heater and noticed that it released and one side popped out about an inch. I told my Dad and he explained that it was time to tell me that one day "they" are going to come for our guns and he didn't plan for them to have them. He didn't have many, just your basic rifle, shotgun, and .22 rifle that he kept in a gun cabinet in the den. I don't know that he ever owned a handgun. He doubted that it would happen in his lifetime but felt it may well be in mine, or certainly in my kids lifetime and he planned to leave something behind that they would not be able to get later. I also remember my Grandpa stating that "they" will do in America what Hitler did to the German people some day because "people in power fear those who aren't". My Dad and Grandpa were not avid shooters, they just kept the basic weapons needed for hunting and the occasional bump in the night. They were both honest, hard working, Americans who clung to both their guns and religion and believed in the Constitution, Bill of Rights and Ten Commandments as written. These men passed to me the family name with a reputation of honesty and decency, it's my job to keep it that way, pass it to my son and instill in him the desire to pass it to his children in the same form. I expect my Dad was right, as usual.

  3. Jerry Adam Smith, the author, is an idiot! On the way home from work this evening, my wife calls and says a man evading police left his truck right in front of our house. I live in a very rural area, and the police were gone when I got home. Where's the guy? Who knows. Who wouldn't be glad to have a gun in case he decides he wants my truck to get away in? Nobody I know. Gregintenn......religious, not racist white guy.

  4. Another possibility for revolvers: Bad cylinder/barrel alignment, which shaves some of the bullet as it moves from the cylinder into the barrel. Most often seen on well-worn and/or cheaply made revolvers. Frequently (not always) accompanied by spitting at the barrel/cylinder gap.

  5. We're a lot more worried - because we're hearing a lot more chatter upstream from the Citi's of the world - with Visa, MasterCard and Amex all talking about the logistics of refusing the transactions associated with ARs. They've already generally decided the optics of it are okay. Basically, they're looking at it and saying, "if Congress is unwilling to act, we are going to use our clout to do something about it." There would of course be a ton of lawsuits - but it takes a bunch of money to litigate - especially against groups that have as much money as the card networks have. The pragmatic reality of the matter is that places like Palmetto State Armory and Primary Arms - and even higher end boutique shops like Daniel Defense, Larue, Noveske, etc. are dead in the water in about 45 days if sales go away. Yes, there will be groups that try to bring alternative payments to the front - but if the cannabis industry offers any lesson - that's a hard problem for a variety of reasons - and you've got to have banks willing to deposit your money at the end of the day. Were I ranking threats to the second amendment, right now I rank Congressional Republicans number one, active state legislatures number two, and this would be a close third.

  6. As I log back in for the first time in a while today I notice a few other posts of the same kind. What a coincidence. I decided a few days ago to unplug from social media and remembered how much actually useful content and discussion is had on this forum. Good to be back! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  8. It has been a long while. Kinda had life going on, plus a frozen shoulder made me to not even want to think of a gun. Anyway, I'm trying to get back in the swing of things.

  10. And the sad part is this could be fixed fairly easily. It is sad that any citizen of this v country will ever vote for any current politician again. They should all be charged as accomplices in my opinion.

  12. Kids can be covered until age 26 now And yes we would have to have a BIG discussion around the whole SSI thing. It needs to be fixed just like everything else government touchs. I am in no way saying it would be easy just a out of the box thinking thing!

  13. Hey, if things were changed so that the legal age of adulthood is 21, across the board - meaning you are tried as a minor, sentenced as a juvenile, not expected to sign up with selective service, etc. until the age of 21 - I could get behind that. It is the 'you are an adult in this way but not in that way' idea that I don't like. And you are probably right, it isn't going to happen but as long as things stay as they are I don't think we should be going along with the removal of a right that 18 year old adults currently have.

  14. If that is their goal it is going to be an almost impossible task to get done. That would require one HELL of an honor system if they think every time someone wants to sell a gun to another local person it would mean they would both have to make a trip to an FF dealer, pay FFL fees and back ground check fees. I just don't see that happening. I can kind of understand the closing the loop hole at gun shows on parking lot sales. The seller has no clue if he is selling a gun to a wanted felon where in a local FTF a seller can require ID, HCP, and bill of sale that is not done at Gun Show parking lot sales. Thing is if a wanted dangerous felon wants a gun they will get one some how some way. I just don't see the anti-gun people getting that type of background check passed..................JMHO

  15. Again, there are also 35 years olds who are not as responsible as some 18 years olds but they still have the full rights and privileges of an adult. As far as going to casinos, buying weed, buying alcohol, adopting, renting a car, etc. I agree 100% - if 18 year olds are legally adults then, just like any other, legal adult they should be able to do every, single one of those things. If not then they should be considered 'juveniles' until the age of 21 and treated so by the legal system when it comes to committing crimes, etc. Adult is adult is adult. These ridiculous, in-between states of limbo our laws and society create need to go away. I also disagree with the idea that only 18-21 year olds who are in the military (through special dispensation) should be allowed to vote. I do not believe in creating 'special classes' of citizens. Either all 18 year olds can vote or none can. Yes, allowing all 18 year old adults (which they currently are in our country) who are expected to have the same legal responsibility as other adults to also have the same rights and privileges as every, other adult might be a bit messy but that mess is the price paid for a country that truly believes in individual liberty. To say that, "Well, you are an adult when it suits us - like when we want to prosecute you as such, etc. - but not when it comes to these privileges," is, to my mind at least, paying lip service to liberty while suppressing individual freedom for the perceived good of 'society'. I personally do not believe that doing so jibes with the ideals of personal freedom and liberty.

  16. The sad part of it is, they don’t have to give it up. When you look at the average American’s spending habits - if they have money they’re going to spend it. So, the banks look at it as potentially delayed income that they’re still going to get sooner or later. Sure, a few people are going to save it or bury it in their backyard or whatever. Most people will just buy something else.

  17. Ok, I won't worry about it. I was not gonna loose much sleep over it anyway. This country was founded and built with guns and I have a feeling guns will keep it up and operational regardless of how the anti gun folks feel about it............jmho

  21. Some still stand and come up for sale from time to time. Here's an article on the fort array near Kent where someone with more money than sense planned to redevelop them into a luxury casino hotel resort. This was 3 years ago and I haven't heard a peep about it since then. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/travel/travel_news/article-3100633/WW2-forts-built-protect-Kent-coast-Nazi-attack-turned-luxury-resort-complete-executive-apartments-helipad-spa-sea.html

  24. I am not racist. I keep guns to shoot any color a$$hole that tries to harm me or my family. You could be as purple as Barney and I wouldn't worry about it on any normal day, let alone fear you more when I need to ventilate you to protect my family. If some white guys fear a black, asian, or latino man more than another white guy, they have already set themselves up for failure.

  26. I know that this is a common refrain, but have you been in a school lately? Even say in the last 30 years? I'm in one every morning. I walk my kids into school everyday for two reasons. One, they're young and will only tolerate this for so long - so I'm going to take advantage of it while I can. But two, it's important to me to be able to put eyes on what's happening in that school each morning. My wife works at our neighborhood school - a public school in Nashville. Mind you, ours is a more affluent neighborhood, but the school is representative of others I've been in. As to the "left liberals teaching them all this crap", I just don't see it. At the ground level, these teachers don't get the most basic level of support from the district to get enough paper and pencils - they're not organized enough to push a larger agenda. But at a more personal level, these teachers approximate society at large in their political preferences - you've got some who are on the more conservative end of the spectrum - you've got some that lean more towards the progressive end of things. They don't have the time in their day to interject some nefarious agenda. They just want to get everyone reading at grade level - and that's a heavy ask when kids bring so much other junk into the classroom with them these days. Now, the older they get - sure, they're likely to be exposed to opposing ideas. There was a time when we encouraged or even celebrated this. It's that process that turned out adults who could think for themselves. I could argue that there are plenty of people who get nervous these days with their kids being introduced to differing ideas because they're afraid or unable to defend the systems they've built. I belong to a fairly conservative religious tradition, but I'm not afraid that my kids' faiths will be destroyed because they suddenly hear the word evolution. You shouldn't have to turn off half of your brain to go to church. But, for those that want to avoid these discussions at large, there's always homeschool or a variety of private options. Once you graduate high school and go to college - yes, the spectrum does trend more towards the left in some disciplines. While there are still a variety of voices on any college campus - the louder progressive voices today are overrepresented on college campuses. I think this is probably a feature that has worked to conservatives advantage at the polls, but for the sake of this argument - I hope that by the time my kids go to college, I've raised them to be able to listen to a variety of thoughts critically without offense and use the tools we've given them to make good decisions about their own beliefs. I'm certain some of those beliefs will diverge from mine - and that's okay.

  27. Absolutely it is, but it isn't guaranteed to be without repercussions. I can't walk out of my job to go protest without being reprimanded or fired. Walking out of school to protest should come with punishment as well. To every thing there is a season. Protest on the weekends or at night.

  31. With as cheap as they are now lately, you'll pay nearly as much for the background check and FFL fee as you will the lower. You might as well just have them throw one onto your order any time you buy any kind of gun. At least you'll save on the BG check.

  33. For the last 2 seasons I have hunted turkeys exclusively with a 20ga. I’ve killed 20 or so birds with a 20ga and watched 20 or so more die from 20ga turkey guns. However, I shoot handloaded TSS. A .410 is a solid turkey gun out to 40 yards when loaded with TSS shells and topped with an optic. However, most casual turkey hunters would be way better served with a 12ga, a good turkey choke and some Winchester Longbeard shells. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
