  1. It's not just guns in general, it's control period. Guns are just a major step in accomplishing that.

  2. In my mind the gubberment "I'm from the government and am here to help" has no stinking business ruling on AR15's period. Will they do something or at least try? Probably....but what happens if a company makes something else that works better the following year and then the next year and so on. AR's are not the problem...never have been. How come kids and and other nutjobs weren't shooting up schools and such in the 70's and 80's? The argument by liberals isn't AR15's...it's guns in general. If their stinking toe jam smelling foot gets in the door then they will go to semi-automatic handguns and all the rest. Say goodbye to Glocks with large mags and others. We will end up like England or Australia. This attack on an AR is only the first step...not the last. People will end up with an old Mosin ,M1 or Lee-Enfield. I don't have anything again those rifles but is that the only choice anyone wants? This has to be fought and never surrendered.....this is serious...to me anyway.

  3. One of the biggest Vista Sports brands is Camel Back. They have enough name recognition that people will go looking for that brand for a hydration pack. When they can't find it on REI, they will go straight to Amazon, where they will find it at a better price anyway, as well as a better selection. And, they will find other things on Amazon, they didn't even know they needed, and buy them there. REI is creating their own boycott, without even knowing it. In a few months this latest tragedy will blow over and get forgotten about by most people, and REI will still have this Vista Sports Boycott in place. Nobody will remember why, the only thing they will care about is that they can't get their backpack from REI and move on to somewhere else. So REI will be stuck with their bad decision, and CamelBack will be affected very little. It will serve them right. Sometimes (most times) as a business, it's best just to remain silent on these issues. I did just last week shop at the Knoxville REI. I bought a pair of hiking boots for $160. If REI doesn't want deplorables like me, who buy and own guns to do business with them, and don't need my money, I'll be happy to oblige them.

  4. Whisper, that just might be why I'm interested. For more than 20 years I've seen the black rifle demonized by the antis with them saying stuff like "nobody needs one of those". Actually, I don't need one. But ya know, I'm just enough of a a-hole that if somebody tells me not to do something, I'll do it anyway just for spite. Maybe I'm just finally fed up with the whole anti-AR lies and BS. Raoul: That always was the game plan. If I do get one, I'll go with the 5.56. The other calibers have their appeal, but I'd start simple with ammo that's readily available for sale OR easy to find in a SHTF situation. There's a gun show here next month and also my birthday. The Germantown show is always plumb full of ARs. It'll be a good opportunity to do some comparison shopping. I still haven't made up my mind, but just maybe I'll buy myself a birthday present.

  5. I’m ready, short of some sighting in. Got a second 20ga this year. Loaded up a bunch of TSS and I can’t wait to smash some heads. Spent today water proofing seams in these blinds. I love hunting rainy days, but hate being wet. We set these up on a couple farms so we can retreat to a blind of a rain storm moves in. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

  6. Anyone want to take bets on how long the boycott lasts? This seems like cutting off your nose to spite your face.

  7. Went to my local Dick's this evening. Spoke with the store manger. Told him this is not personally directed towards him. Handed him a copy of their corporate leadership anti Second Amendment announcement from today and my Dick's Score Card, and told him I am offended, they have lost me as a customer, and I will tell others why I no longer shop there.

  9. I have stayed away a lot because it got a bit too heavy. It was a bit too political and also a bit too opinionated for me when it came to certain things regarding women. But I have noticed that there is a new section for the Political things which is LOVELY because then I don't have to see it. I am swamped with caring for 10 dogs and 20 chickens and now on seperate shift with Monkey. But I think I will renew my membership soon. I don't want to miss out on any events.

  10. Well we went to Knoxville today to buy Monkey a Snap On tool box. Met a great guy who was a Ford fanatic like myself. We also stopped at Bob's. I didn't see Mike, but I also didn't ask if he was there. But I did pick up some oldies that we like and then also some new things we have yet to try. The Smooth Ambler Contradiction is good. I can tolerate it, so it would be maybe light for some of you. I bought the Widow Jane for myself, which I will share with Monkey. The Tequila (Patron Silver and Espolon Resposado) is for me and Monkey gets the Bourbon. I bought the Bib and Tucker for him because I haven't seen it before and it looked interesting and then of course a new bottle of good ol Whistle Pig. I will NOT answer how many bottles of wine were also purchased today. But I did get a case discount if that tells you anything. LOL Dudes, I totally have an awesome pic but I haven't posted in a while and can't get it to show.

  11. I did handle it. It seems extremely well made and the trigger is magnificent. It has a fiber optic front sight, which I have come to prefer for pistol front sights. If I had the money I would have purchased it already.

  13. Just wanted to update and say that I am still using Martin’s permethrin and I am still alive. Also, I have switched from dipping my clothes, to using a pump up garden sprayer. It wastes less and lets me touch the clothes up easier half way through season. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

  15. I traded off a pristine 952 and 5 mags just a few months back. The trade value came out to about 2600. I had nowhere near that in it. Very happy with the deal. I can tell you where it went, but I don't think it can be gotten at the moment.

  17. It’s an affordable, lightweight, accurate, reliable, easily configurable rifle. What’s not to like? I have a few and some stripped lowers that I’ve not built up, but my interest has moved towards battle rifles as of late and I started with the best in that category. The FAL.

  18. There are as many reasons to buy one as there are not to. I had one for yrs., and sold it recently, not because I had any issues with it, I just needed the money more for other things. As for the reliability some have questioned, I had a M16A1 w/ M203 attached, in Vietnam in '67. Never had a problem with it, & my life & others depended on it's performance. No doubt there were problems, like there is with any thing, just not the "bad boy " it's sometimes made out to be. It also helps to clean it once in a while. ( major issue in 'Nam ) If you've got the itch, go ahead & scratch it, LOL.

  19. I bought my first one because I heard Obama say I didn't need one. The fastest way to get me to do anything is to tell me I can't.

  20. You don’t need one; you have some quality rifles already. Your M1A’s will do anything an AR will do; only much better. Unless you perceive getting into a situation where you need multiple 30 round magazines of underpowered rifle ammo. You aren’t missing anything. I’ve owned several over the years and own four right now, a .22 LR, a 5.56/.223, a 7.62/308, and a .223 pistol. With the exception of the .308 (My go to SHTF rifle) and the pistol (trunk gun) they are just range toys. I won’t say I have never had a malfunction with an AR; but I can’t remember one right now. I have them simply because I can. I have a lot of guns that I don’t use or carry very often but just wanted them to play with. I know it’s not popular to call guns “Toys” but that’s exactly what they are to me. If you are just looking for something to buy, do you have a quality bolt action rifle with a quality scope than can make a 1000 yard shot? Do I think AR’s will be outlawed? Possibly by some of the states, but I doubt the Feds do it. When the Dems get back in power if they get it done we don’t know that they will be Grandfathered or transferable to family members. But if that happens I doubt your Garand or M1A’s will be safe either.

  21. I am indifferent about AR's, but I love to build things. I now have 6 variations and two receiver sets sitting idle waiting until I get another hankering. I've had an erector set since I was old enough to remember and these are the erector set of the Centerfire world. I don't have a single one which would be considered a typical AR. 2 long barreled varmint rifles (223 and 204 Ruger), 2 SBR's (223 and 9mm), a 22lr, and an AR-10. I have a feeling a 224 Valkyrie is in my near plans. I don't shoot any of them a lot, but I enjoyed putting them together and when I do shoot them, I do enjoy it. If I didn't like to build them, I would probably have 1 just to say I have one, although it would probably be the 9mm as I like the idea of it for short distance personal defense should I ever need to use it for that.

  23. Gun control panic??? I managed to live 50 years without one. Now, just a few years later I own more than I care to state publicly. After running a friend's in a carbine class I bought an AR-15 and then an AR-10. After that I started building them. For me, putting them together is almost as much fun as shooting them. You don't have to stick with .223/5.56. It sounds like you have some nice semi-autos already. If the AR isn't floating your boat, buy something that does.

  26. I'm a bit confused. If you only go into REI (whatever that is) to browse gear to order online, how exactly do you boycott them?

  27. If you have enough ammo or reloading supplies to feed what you have then screw the AR. If it gets really crazy it'll come down to ammo. If it's really that stupid you can shoot your way into an AR.

  28. Best answer I can come up with. I didn't care for them either. I still don't like the way the look. I've bought em, built em, tinkered with em, ect. I've yet to shoot one that wasn't as accurate as any bolt rifle I've ever fired. I've also yet to fire one that wasn't 100 percent reliable. Think of them as tinker toys for adults. YOu can take em apart, put em back together, and dress em up any number of ways to suit your fancy.

  29. I prefer rechargeable...I'll buy a charger and extra batts so it'll be quick to change them out. And depending on settings they should last 4-6mo on a charge. My bigger concern is protecting the cameras; pretty easy to steal tho' you should get a good view of the thief, but mostt wear hoods/masks which is a problem. Which begs the question...do I "go loud" with "Video Recording 24hr" style signs or "go silent" with no signs and try to hide the cameras? Not an easy task for the angles and ease of access for recharging that I want.

  35. I don't see this as an attack on firearms/ammunition. It is IMO a sanction on Russia that simply tries to impact their political actions. If it happens to involve an economic facet that includes ammunition, so be it. I don't think as a community of gun owners we can be or should be immune to worldwide political actions. That doesn't mean I like it, but I'm not paranoid to think they every action targets me as a gun owner is planned to do so.
