To add on to this, when I hear people say this, I wonder how much time they actually spend with kids? Yes, there are some examples of people making poor choices that are amplified by social media - and a traditional media run by an older generation. I expect every generation has those. People just have more public platforms to capture their mistakes these days. But, I’ve got to say that I’m long on these kids. Some of them are among the smartest kids I’ve ever met - and with tools like have never been seen before in history. I often kind of find myself envious of what they’ve got at their disposal. The world has changed more in 50 years than it has in the last 50,000. It shouldn’t be surprising that a lot of people find themselves confused by it. But, give them a chance. Every generation has to find its way as it matures. I’ve no doubt that this one will come into its own. Their solutions won’t look like those of previous generations - but look at where those have gotten us.4 points

This isn’t pointed directly at you, but I hear/see this a lot. The question that it raises in my mind is “Who’s fault is that?” If the youth of today aren’t prepared to deal with the world as it really exists. If they haven’t been educated on how to be a rational, thinking, functioning human being, then they were failed by the adults in their lives. They didn’t raise themselves. (Well, some did and that’s an entirely different failure.) Many of us denigrate “the participation trophy generation” for their softness. Well, they didn’t demand those trophies, mommy and daddy did because they couldn’t bear that little Johnny feel the sting of defeat. The adults in their lives added foam bumpers to all the sharp corners of life as kids and then wonder why they demand safe spaces now. Well, they’ve never known anything but that. No wonder they think they deserve it forever.4 points

The NRA is pretty powerful, it's not the money that makes them so powerful, it's the 5 million+ votes they offer. The line from the left these days is that the NRA represents firearm manufacturers and not gun owners, that's the biggest bunch of hogwash I've ever heard.3 points

Looked like he was less than 5 ft away. A shotgun patterns less than an inch at that range. I bet the muzzle blast was intense for the hostage.3 points

Here are some of the top groups and what they paid in 2017 for lobbying. Feel free to check me on this. The NRA gave Senator Burr, of NC, $9900 and the media claims the senator is in their pockets. I think the NRA spent $3,200,000 last year on lobbying. They rank 488th so what makes them so powerful? I just want you to know so you can tell your friends. At least 4 of these organizations represent the media. National Assn of Realtors $54,530,861 Business Roundtable $27,380,000 Pharmaceutical Research & Manufacturers of America $25,847,500 Blue Cross/Blue Shield $24,330,306 American Hospital Assn $22,064,214 American Medical Assn $21,535,000 Alphabet Inc $18,140,000 AT&T Inc $16,780,000 Boeing Co $16,740,000 Open Society Policy Center $16,110,000 DowDuPont $15,877,520 National Assn of Broadcasters $15,460,000 Comcast Corp $15,310,000 Lockheed Martin $14,464,290 Amazon.com $13,000,000 Southern Co $12,970,000 National Retail Federation $12,890,000 NCTA The Internet & Television Assn $12,790,000 Oracle Corp $12,385,0002 points

That is an officer doing what he is trained to do. Take charge of the situation and gain control of bad guy as fast as possible. By his action of aggression the officer caught the bad guy totally off guard and the bad guy gave the officer what he needed!!!! OPPORTUNITY and the officer took it. I say job well done.............JMHO2 points

Had a GREAT time last night recording the first episode with a few familiar faces here on TGO and a friend from up in New Hampshire. @Dolomite_supafly and @molonlabetn joined me to have a good conversation with Randy Harris (@Cruel Hand Luke) and Mark Lancaster from Squared Away Customs about practical training for civilians and educators. It's a pretty timely conversation with recent tragic events in Marshall County, Kentucky and Parkland, Florida. I have several hours worth of work to do today to get it packaged up and turned into a podcast. I should have it posted for you all to listen to tonight! I really can't thank these guys enough for their time, enthusiasm and knowledge. Please show Randy and Mark some love. Randy is one of our resident firearms training instructors and hosts classes in the Chattanooga area very frequently. Mark is a heck of a good holster manufacturer at Squared Away Customs and has offered up a discount code "Shooters Nation" for you guys.2 points

Since we're talking big bore revolvers (.45 Colt thread), Let's go ahead and talk about my favorite big bore wheel guns, The .44 Special. The .44 Magnum may be more popular, but the .44 Special will handle anything a handgun can be asked to do without all that buck & roar. The special makes an outstanding defense round and is capable of taking any game up to Black Bear. For a big bore, the recoil is mild and the cartridge is famous for its accuracy. I love these things! Top row: S&W 2nd Model .44 Hand Ejector 5" barrel: This one shipped Jan 22, 1924 to the Joplin, Missouri Police Dept. Man if this one could talk.... S&W 1st Model .44 Hand Ejector 5" barrel. AKA the "New Century Model" or "Triple Lock" due to the extra lock built into the cylinder crane. Shipped May 21, 1910 to Birmingham Arms & hardware, Birmingham, Al. 2nd row and middle bottom: In 1983 Smith & Wesson re-introduced the .44 Special with a run of 7,500 Model 24-3s. Most were 6 1/2" barrels with 2,625 made with 4" barrels. They proved to be so popular that Lou Horton Distributors commissioned S&W to make 5000 3" guns. I am fortunate enough to have one of each. Bottom left: Charter Arms Bulldog 3" made in 1985. The original pocket power house! Bottom right: S&W Model 696 no-dash. Made in August, 1997. A 5 shot .44 built on S&W's L-frame with a 3" barrel. These are highly sought after as they were the last S&Ws built before the introduction of MIM parts on the dash 1 version. I know a lot of you own .44 Magnums, now fess up. Who shoots them more with .44 Special ammo?1 point

It started the day after the shooting. If you’ve just got to have a Bump Stock or aged 18-20, you may have something to worry about, other than that I don’t see much happening. I don’t see too much support for a AWB. I have actually been on a buying spree up until the latest shooting. Since the Trump election, prices have been decent. I’ve bought a pile of ammo and a few firearms in the last year.1 point

What's even worse, is they'll send the parents home w/ a script and little Johnny will learn to just pop a pill and make all his problems go away. ... and people wonder how we got here? Taking drugs to solve all your problems is fine so long as you buy them from a guy in a white lab coat, apparently.1 point

Eh. Maybe. I think most evidence seems to suggest gang related. Chattanooga doesn’t heavily promote this fact but there is decent gang activity around. Not as bad as some area in the state but a bit worse than others. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point

It's always my policy to eliminate all enemy combatants in the field, good for the kid. I think the dying scene took way too long though, at the end I was "Just die already".1 point

If really need be, I will complain and have them sent to Bass Pro where I can transfer them as anything. I think they said $15 to do that because of shipping. I should be able to get them all done for that. I forgot to say, I am doing in store pickup on them.1 point

Lighten up Francis; we know what something like this would entail, but I don't see this going anywhere. KY, AL, NC, GA, would get a sales boost unless they followed suit.1 point

Oh, so you never got to eat there? Ok, I thought the Grill might have been someplace else and you had to drive by the mall to get to it. Still, interesting story about the sorta active shooter that was not really one but a Glock was found in the parking lot and it was not shooting anyone. So maybe it is true that guns don't kill people or surely it would have killed someone!!!.........JMHO1 point

I've done a few transfers with Bellshire Hardware on Dickerson Pike and they've always been good to me. I think most of their business is transfers but they do have some inventory in the store. Most of the online retailers already have their FFL info on file since they do a fair number of transfers. I think they charge $20 + TICS but could be $25, it has been a while since I've been in there.1 point
-
Done a few transfers with Royal range now - super easy and quick. Just fill out the form online and get a call when you gun is in. The biggest plus for me - the guys actually act like your doing business with them when doing ffl transfer, they don't act like I'm wasting their time like most other places have in the past for me. I will be purchasing more from them just because of how they have treated me.1 point
