I’ve always kind of figured that most of a valet’s compensation is in the tips they receive. I figure the extra couple of bucks may not impact me much at this point in my life - but it might in theirs. Life is short...5 points

I would say most people probably tip 2-3 bucks. That is probably average. I always tip a little bit more to appease my guilt for being a lazy fat ass and not doing it myself. There is no medical reason I couldn't park it myself except that I just don't want to. lol4 points

No flaming from me, just an opposing viewpoint. Personally, I believe that having the Feds occupy a field that has, until now, been mostly a state decided issue will never, ever be a good thing - no matter the issue. The Fed is already overgrown and bloated - I don't believe we need to be supporting the idea of it getting even bigger and even more involved in such things even if it appears to benefit us, at least in the short term. A Fed that can tell all states that they must allow carry can, when the wind blows another direction, tell all states that they can no longer allow carry - or that they have to meet California, New York and Illinois 'standards' in order to do so, that they can only authorize people to carry handguns that are on the California approved list, etc. Think I am being paranoid? Ask yourself who the Fed and the EPA look to when they want to put new regulations in place. It ain't lower Alabama. It tends to be California. I believe it would be no different when it came to Federal carry regulation. No, thanks. I'd rather avoid those states where I can't currently legally carry or, worst case, deal with not being able to carry while I am there.4 points

I just got back home from the MEPS center in Nashville. It was THE hardest thing I've ever done as a Dad to watch my son get on that bus and head out for Parris Island today. Pray for him that the Lord will be with him and give him strength and resilience, and that my son will trust in Him. I told him yesterday that even though he may have the blood of warriors coursing through his veins, the blood of the Cherokee, the Seminole, the Blackfoot, the Norseman, all that pales in comparison to the fact that he is covered by the blood of Christ, the Lamb of God, the King of kings, the Lord of lords. I want him to remember that. And to remember that God will never leave him or abandon him.3 points

You know.....not being a computer whiz I have no freakin' idea how that happened. A few days ago on a different forum the same thing happened. Maybe my laptop is running low on ink.3 points

First dram since this little guy came into the world. Celebratory pour for sure! I’ve been saving the last 1/4 of this bottle for something special, even before we knew we were having a baby. Nothing more fitting Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk3 points

Speaking strictly for myself.....I would prefer the Feds keep their collective noses out of this issue. What may be ok during this administration, may very well head south if the Libs take control again. All the states I may visit are not an issue ( I don't visit all ). The Califs, Ill, NY, I stay clear. JMHO2 points

This process has been a lot slower than I had hoped and that is entirely my fault. I have been covered up with other things, which is exactly the reason why we needed some new folks on the TGO Staff to help us keep momentum and keep things friendly and enjoyable. So without any further adieu, please welcome to the moderating team... @Chucktshoes @Grand Torino @CZ9MM @TripleGGG There may likely be more added soon but these gentlemen were gracious enough to volunteer and are now set up as moderators. I have more volunteers to sort through and hope to get that taken care of in the days ahead, so if you had tossed your hat in the ring don't give up yet. I really appreciate all of the interest that has been shown.2 points

Very true. This is why I am against it and pray it doesn't pass. State's rights are all but gone already, I'm not ready to hand the feds more power over the states. Right now, TN HCP law has some bad things in it but it's not nearly bad as some states. After this national reciprocity gets ironed out, I could see our right to carry in TN greatly restricted over what we have now. While I don't open carry, I like the fact that if somebody happens to see my gun, I don't risk being charged.1 point

I've seen this guys work and it's exceptional. He usually does high end shotguns but may be will be able to do whatever it is you are looking for or recommend someone. He's a bit far from east Tennessee but you did say you would like to keep your business in state which he is. Here's a link to his Facebook page and if that does not work for you I can PM you his phone number. Ron Neely: CLICK HERE1 point

No permit is needed in Tennessee to keep loaded firearms (handguns and long guns) in your vehicle. It's considered an extension of your home. Your Michigan permit is valid in Tennessee, so you're also A-OK to carry a handgun outside your vehicle. TN recognizes it as a carry permit so you can carry open or concealed at your discretion. An AR pistol is considered a handgun, but you need to know that not every law enforcement officer will be aware of this. Note that "no guns" signs do have the force of law here. Signs are supposed to have very specific wording and symbols, but I find that unless you want to get into the weeds of the Tennessee codes, it's better to just assume any no-guns sign is valid.1 point

I’ve visited all 48 contiguous since I started driving and keeping abreast of the ins and outs of each state is far more tolerable than the risk of getting the option to carry closed out altogether.1 point

I think the premise behind trying to get an American company is to assure a reliable flow of these weapons, where the military would not be getting cut off by embargo or war. And did the DOD not field a set of specs to potential contractees saying "this is the minunum we expect"? Or is this whole thing just an exercise in pocket lining by a bunch of cake-eating yahoos? I watched this last night. Besides being driven from the left I felt they were trying to alert everyone that hey this thing may get passed. You know not everyone keeps up with what is going on in the world. And they kept saying how the police were against it. Maybe just the leaders from large cities that play politics.1 point

Looks pretty good, I must admit. Like you, I wasn't to fond of the different colors until I got my PPQ in Black/Titanium...it's awesome. That led to an FDE Canik TP9, and now an FDE Smith M2 5" 9mm. Colors can be addictive.1 point

Pakistan has become a textiles manufacturing powerhouse along with Vietnam. Chinese labor got too expensive to produce textile goods at a price that American consumers would pay. While I understand why one would experience discomfort at buying Pakistani made goods, trust me, it’s a good thing. Nothing has a moderating influence on the proliferation of extremist thought than a strong, comfortable middle class intent on maintaining their way of life.1 point

It’s not like they’re GI surplus socks or anything. I imagine even those are probably made in a country that can actually produce inexpensive goods. Heck, all my NRA swag is made in China. I always found that particularly distasteful.1 point

Yep, that is what it is, I am trying to find just a blade as most of the ones out there are tourist junk. We have one that is close but with cheap metal. It works great for our Rabbit skinning. So what I am looking for is one made out of good metal that she can put her own handle on.1 point

If you are interested in an online dealer, you might want to look at one of the following: http://www.vancesle.com https://www.sportsmansoutdoorsuperstore.com/category.cfm/sportsman/law-enforcement https://ssdinternationalinc.com https://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/index.php/cPath/2083_1799/Special+Deals/Qualified+Professional+Discounts https://bhpolicesupply.com/BH/Homepage.aspx They all sale S & W with Blue Label discounts. I'm not positive about B & H Police Supply. They are offline right now repricing with 2018 prices from their manufacturers. I was thinking about using one of these dealers for an IOP purchase in the near future, but I have never used any of them yet, so I cannot comment on their reputations, other than what I have seen online.1 point

There's a store in Gallatin on the square called Blue Line Guns. I figured it was geared toward cops so I never went in it. Perhaps it's what you're looking for?1 point

Funny this is, but think about how many pistols and revolvers were carried for the better part of a century that had NO drop safeties. I think that all those great torture test videos have made the thought of dropping your pistol acceptable. Of course it's not.... that patch could have a 1911, a Ruger Blackhawk, a Luger, and many more pistols on it. Doing stupid things with loaded guns can kill someone. I learned that when I was 4 or 5.1 point

Also a chance a gat in the car could save his life. Point is, it's legal in this state for an 18 year old to own a pistol. It's legal for an adult to have a pistol in his private vehicle in this state unless one has had a disqualifying episode. Chance of a dumb cop making an issue? Well, whatever, life's full of possible bad things, but we seldom face the ones we most worry about, and even if it happened it wouldn't be that big a deal in the end. - OS1 point
