Any gun really. I don’t even know what I want. Ever have those times that you have gun money burning a hole in your pocket and you can’t really find anything? It’s a sickness that comes with withdrawals. That is all….3 points

You can be trespassed for no reason at all and show me a reasonable anti gunner who will be reasonable if you are caught carrying, on their property, against their wishes. I would not care to be trespassed from an anti gun establishment but I don't want to be either. I also have a serious problem with people going against a property owner's wishes for their own gain more than anything. They don't want you carrying a gun there but you thumb your nose at their wishes because you think your privilege of carrying a firearm trumps their right to use their property how they wish. It is like random people coming on your property and as long as you don't catch them I guess it is ok. I don't want anyone on my property doing anything against my will and on that issue I will 100% stand with the anti gun establishments because I believe their property owner's rights trump anyone's misconceived right to carry a firearm on that property. Someone's is going to say public access, public property, yada-yada-yada. Still doesn't matter. In the same way you can't say what you want in a public business you cannot do what you want either, unless the owner/operator allows it. We have a right to self defense but we do not have the right to use any tool we want unless the property owner allows it. As I have said before, if a property owner requires you to wear a pink tutu and carry a Nerf gun on their property, you abide or don't enter. That doesn't change just because the item you are carrying does. Just because the consequences are acceptable to you still doesn't change the fact you violated someone's right with your want. I guess it is OK if a rapist rapes a family member as long as the rapist OK with the consequences. Forcing yourself, and your wishes, onto someone else is wrong no matter the reason or where it is. I am as pro gun as anyone here but a property owner's right trumps anything a guest might think they have.3 points

Risking your life for $1300 worth of crap from Walmart? Um, no. Get a description, take a picture, and call in guys like Jared Reston to get shot at while chasing down shoplifters.2 points

I like my idea best!!!!! If I approach a store or business of any type and they have any kind of signage of any type against firearms not allowed I turn around and go find a store with the same products I was wanting to buy and do business with them. I don't want any person of company to have 1 dime of my money that does not feel the same as I do about my freedoms according to the Constitution and state and local laws................JMHO2 points

First, the key fact that everybody here seems to forget, we know of only a few cases where permit holders have been charged for violating 39-17-1359 and ALL of the known cases involve carrying firearms into the secure area of an airport. Second, violation has been changed to a class B misdemeanor with a fine only, so if you're found guilty you're not facing any jail time, you're not facing loss of your permit, you're facing a $500 fine. I highly doubt you'd even get arrested, just cited and told to leave. Obviously I'm not recommending knowingly committing a crime. While I won't spend money in a business that is posted, there are times that I'm forced to carry into 'unfriendly' territory, and will carry past a sign that doesn't comply with the statue, or use an entrance that isn't posted. I carry concealed, and nobody is the wiser. If I get caught and charged, I probably won't hire an attorney, $500 isn't much more than a very bad speeding ticket money wise, and I think I could properly put together a motion to dismiss and argue the legislative intent was clear, any sign that fails to standards set out in the law were meant to be unenforceable. If not I write a check for $500 and have a great story to tell. If some employee comes up and asks you to leave, then leave. If some officer walks up to you and tells you to leave, apologize, tell him you have a HCP and didn't see a valid sign, then offer to leave. I seriously doubt you'd find many officers who are going to try and make a case out of it when you act reasonably to resolve the situation.2 points

Proprietary in what way? Their 9mm and .308 AR’s might have some compatibility issues with parts but there is no standard for those. Their regular AR’s are just that, regular, or as “mil-spec” as is possible in the civilian market.1 point

I'm pro-property rights which is why I don't associate with the TFA anymore... But there are certain circumstances where you're not dealing with a regular business. Before the recent law change I often was forced to go into government buildings, unlike your local restaurant or chain clothing store, there is no other place to 'go' to "buy" these services. More importantly in many cases these 'services' are mandatory, as in if you don't partake the government will send men with guns to force you to pay one way or another My logic is simple if you're a government entity and you can't be bothered to follow the letter of the law in posting no firearm signs, then I shouldn't be required to disarm. Hospitals are another grey area in my book, my Doctor isn't anti-gun, but he sometimes refers myself or my family to a Hospital where they are, he doesn't have privileges anywhere else - not that in Nashville there are any Hospitals which aren't anti-gun to begin with. Anyhow the Hospital in question has no firearm signs outside their ER entrance and main Hospital entrance, but doesn't have them from the Parking Garage entrances. So I put a bug in my back pocket in a wallet style holster, and don't ask/don't tell carry. And frankly I don't feel bad about doing it. Obviously if somebody asking you to leave you should leave. But, while I part of a business that has a 'no shirt, no shoes, no service' sign on the door, I don't expect the government to charge people who ignore it with a crime, I ask them to leave and so far they all have left, just as I suspect would be the case with the vast majority of HCP holders.1 point

Not true. My Double star lower doesn't match anything. Here's an Anderson Lower with a PSA upper. If that isn't close enough, just get a PSA lower transferred in.1 point

No, I'm saying that the -1 is various models made over 15 years; not just one model and not just one barrel length.1 point

I asked about getting a custom leather holster for my Sig sub compact. Several people mentioned Red Cent Custom Leather in McLeansville NC. I like buy local when I can so I called Harold and asked about a nice OWB holster. He asked where I wear my pistol, did I want it canted, did I want padding between the grip and my hip. did I want dark leather or light. The price was so reasonable that I had him make one for my S&W model 36 3". I got them in the mail last week. All I can say is WOW! The leather is dark brown, almost black, it is molded to a specific handgun and fits perfectly. It's canted enough that I can conceal as well as an IWB holster. The stitching is excellent. Red Cent Custom Leather will get more of my business. I am glad to have been able to buy locally from a skilled leather smith. I know you guys it Tennessee have some good leather smiths (is that the right term?) too.1 point

Guys, reread the story. The HCPer confronted the shoplifter in the parking lot. the HCPer then jumped into the passenger seat of the shoplifters vehicle. That was very stupid and dangerous. A HCP is not a license to be a cop or a vigilante. This HCPer was a dumbass and makes all HCP holders looks bad. It perpetuates he myth that we are all wanna be cops and want to shoot someone.1 point

A "no dash" should have a pinned barrel, a -1 won’t. Stainless J-frames Pre-Locks are very desirable.1 point

If I’m reading the story right the shoplifter pulled a gun and pointed it at him. At the point a gun is pulled it’s not a shoplifting case anymore, and it doesn’t matter WHY he was approaching the guy. I would have shot him if I thought I could get off a shot off before he could shoot me. But yea, I wouldn’t stop them. If Wal-Mart won’t stop shoplifters I certainly wouldn’t get involved. The shoplifter with a gun was a violent criminal and the citizen was just doing what he thought was right. Whether it’s something we would have done or not; he did it and I support him. I just hope some overzealous gun hating DA doesn’t decide to charge him with something. If I’m reading the story wrong and a HCP holder pulled a gun to shop a shoplifter; I apologize.1 point

I’m afraid some people confuse a HCP with a badge. HCP is for getting yourself and your family home safe. A badge is for protecting yourself and the masses. If you have a HCP and save others in the process of protecting yourself or your family, that’s a bonus to the public. This HCP was out of line (in my opinion). It’s not his job to protect the property of Walmart.1 point

That serial number puts it between 1974 & 1977. I would think it would probably be 1977 as that year ended with serial number R1900000. But only a S&W letter can say for sure. It should be a Model 60-1. Best guess on value with box and in excellent condition would be about $400-450.1 point

I’ve done it as well. It was on a rifle I still have, have no intention of selling. I didn’t want to disturb a reliable, well functioning gas system and needed a very low profile to fit under a very narrow handguard. While a close inspection would reveal the difference in finish, the cold blue I used has kept it corrosion free for going on 5 years or so. I wouldn’t hesitate to do it again if appropriate for the job at hand. That’s the real problem with the bubbas of the world, determining when it’s appropriate to do something and then doing it well.1 point

I'm all for standing up to bullies. It worked for decades. I'm just pointing out that thanks to zero tolerance policies you are just as likely to end up in a world of trouble as the bully. My friend was a SRO at a local elementary school and told me about taking kids that young to jail for fighting. It's ridiculous.1 point

I thought I made it pretty clear I wasn't justifying his actions. What I'm saying is that if you have a group of people constantly picking on the fat kid year after year don't be surprised if he comes in with dad's Glock. Parents, teachers and the administration all have a responsibility to end bullying. I watched the same kids get picked on all through high school by the same group of assholes. It had nothing to do with kids being "too soft". The real cowards are the ones that felt the need to pick on those that they knew would not stand up to them. There is nothing courageous about that. You're confusing too very different issues here. Also, keep in mind that in 2018 standing up to bullies means you will be in just as much trouble as the bully. Issues can't be resolved with a fist fight after school. Now you have kids getting arrested for fighting accompanied by a permanent record and legal fees. Times have changed. I have read accounts of someone getting sucker punched and then once they fight back they are both arrested. That is the world we live in now.1 point

Nothing excuses this behavior! It is a failure of all involved that someone gets that close to the edge and no one steps up to assist. What a society we have become!1 point

Sorry, He does not need to sit in prison for the rest of his life. It is very clear beyond doubt he is guilty of a horrific crime. Take him out back and shoot him! That is part of the problem with these events that they are sent to prison for life. That is no longer the deterrent it used to be. Time to take away the privileges in jail and make it a bad place to go again! Not to mention I am tired of paying to keep people in prison for life that have no chance of ever returning to society.1 point

I find that most often I run into Murphy when I don’t pay proper attention to Newton.1 point

But why risk it. If you are arrested I can guarantee you will be out thousands of dollars in legal fees, even if it goes in your favor. Anyone going in front of a judge without a lawyer standing next to them will likely have a very bad day. I know I wouldn't go in front of a judge for anything without having an attorney present, especially if I was accused of breaking a law. Even if you are in the clear your arrest will always show up in a background unless you pay thousands to have it expunged. Another thing, any cop that shows up will not let you try to convince them the sign is wrong if they believe you have broken the law. Most cops will not know what the correct language of the sign so to them you will have violated the law by walking past the sign. Now a lot of cops will probably just tell you to leave but all it takes is one and you will be hauled away in handcuff, starting your long expensive process of proving the sign was wrong and that you were in the right for carrying past a sign whose intent is quite clear. To a jury of 12 you will be painted as a renegade gun owner who willingly violated the intent of the law despite being in compliance with the letter of the law. Best case scenario you will be out thousands, worst case you will be out your freedom and when you get out of jail you will not be the same person as when you went in. My freedom is not worth the risk of walking past any posting and my money is more valuable than to give it to someone who doesn't allow me to protect myself.1 point

If you reload, stay away from cast bullets. They clog up the gas port. I shot cast and paid the bill. Took me for ever to find the wrench to remove the gas check to clean it. I found 110gr bullets from Bartlett. H110 was the powder I used. Worked great. Clean, uniform, consistent readings over the chronograph.1 point

I've been after an M1 carbine for several years. It's been an elusive one to add to the safe. Timing hasn't ever been right and I constantly find reasons not to buy, mostly because they're overpriced and have continued down that path. I shouldn't have passed on the Underwood from 3 years ago for $800 but I digress. Congrats on the purchase and enjoy!1 point
