  1. Well the doctor at the hospital had me down for Home Health Care visits for OT and PT so lady came by today to do an evaluation of what I will need. She looked at me and took all may vital signs and ask me how I felt and if I had any pain which I am not at present and after spending 30 minutes with me answering questions she said , Mr Richards, You don't need any home health care. You are far beyond where most folks are this short after surgery and you are doing well so she said I won't be getting any more visits from Home Health Care so that is one more hurdle I have made it over.

  2. We're one step closer to this being a reality! @MacGyver, @Dolomite_supafly and I spent an hour or so chewing the fat across the Internet tonight complete with video-conferencing and it all imported perfectly through my little home studio setup. PLUS... we had an absolute blast doing it. I know I did, at least.

  4. My daughter was a school teacher that became a Probation Officer. At first she told me she wanted to work with juveniles. I told her “No you don’t”. She has worked with adults for over 20 years, but has seen what the Juvenile Officers have to deal with. Sometimes there are kids you think you can help; but you can’t because of the dirt bag parents. I saw it too many times as a cop. Our legal system gives criminals too many protections. And anytime you see “Zero Tolerance” it’s because someone is too lazy to do their job. They don’t want to do a proper investigation and determine who is at fault. School shootings (and other mass shootings) will continue. Your kids can probably tell you who is about to go off the rails in their school.

  8. I’ve done it as well. It was on a rifle I still have, have no intention of selling. I didn’t want to disturb a reliable, well functioning gas system and needed a very low profile to fit under a very narrow handguard. While a close inspection would reveal the difference in finish, the cold blue I used has kept it corrosion free for going on 5 years or so. I wouldn’t hesitate to do it again if appropriate for the job at hand. That’s the real problem with the bubbas of the world, determining when it’s appropriate to do something and then doing it well.

  9. I've done it and dare I say you would be hard pressed to find a more minimalistic gas block than one cut off. Also, it is pinned so there is no chance of it working loose like a gas block held on with screws.

  10. We could talk for two hours on that by itself. I've got a microcontroller based system that will control airflow and thus temperature to practically a degree or two, but I almost never use it. Heart of the matter on the BGE and the Kamodo Joe like David has is that they're so thick, you can pretty easily do an 8 hour run without touching the vents.

  15. It would seem that parents could take some lessons from all this. Then again there are a lot of things today's parents need to learn these days. Tough for them as this is the first big bunch that also did not see their parents much. So now we have multigenerational kids that cannot hope and have no outlets other than the internet which is all the real life they know. As for Ritalin I will not even get started on that topic. Labeling people seems to also be a big issue. ADD, ADHD, inferior complex, Superior complex, all excuses in most cases. Some are real issues and most of those could be handled much better and are often misdiagnosed and treated with the latest wonder drug. Just look at TV where every other as is for a new drug with ads in between from lawyers saying you can get rich by joining the lawsuit over the last great thing. I need to finish my place fast and start my hermit lifestyle. I am allergic to stupid so I need to isolate myself

  19. I’m afraid some people confuse a HCP with a badge. HCP is for getting yourself and your family home safe. A badge is for protecting yourself and the masses. If you have a HCP and save others in the process of protecting yourself or your family, that’s a bonus to the public. This HCP was out of line (in my opinion). It’s not his job to protect the property of Walmart.

  21. You can do voice through discord. It can be a bit wonky at times but it is better than nothing. If I had to pick one it would be TeamSpeak, it is a download as well but it is a lot easier to manage as an admin and is easier to setup for most. I have A LOT of experience with TeamSpeak. As a client all you do is download the program, connect to a server then chat. No need to register or anything. I didn't realize how much I miss talking to people until last night.

Her office is a house that has been coverted to a doctors office and her staff is all female and anyone not knowing her and her staff might think it would be an easy drug hit would be in for a very rude awakening. We talk guns every time I go for an appointment. She was packing a Kimber last visit which was a new purchase as she was packing Glock but didn't like how bulky it was.

Get a 220v stick welder and a 110 mig welder and you have pretty much everything covered for about $600 bucks or so. Then a disk grinder, band saw and maybe a few other tools as you get into your projects as needed. Lots of guide books and probably you tube vids. There is nothing mysterious about welding most common metals. It comes down to practice & read, read & practice. Basically, I think your better off putting the cash into the machines rather than a teacher.

  31. Seen a few YouTube videos of doing that, don't recall their reasoning for it though but possibly so they wouldn't have to replace the hand guards to cover the gas block and tube.

  38. You could surely be on to something with te Ritalin theory Leroy, My grandson was diagnosed as having ADHD back when he was about 6 years old and they have him on that junk and he was out of control and about to drive my daughter crazy with his fits and tantrums. She was going through DHS to get him treatments because the meds were unaffordable for her to buy. At age 7 I had had enough of watching my daughter go through hell and DHS just throwing Ritalin the problem but not fixing it. Grandfather decided it was time for him to get involved and I paid a visit to DHS and we had a very long deep discussion about what other services maybe offer but because Ritlalin was not working. I was not leaving there until they found him something that would help him. They came back with an offer to send him to a special school for Children with his problem and because he was just accepted into the Tenn Care Program he did qualify to be sent to the school. We sent him and he was gone about 6 months and we could not visit him for the first month. By the time we did get to visit him you could see a complete improvement in him and he was in good spirits. He remained at the school 2 years and when he came home he was a new child with a new look on life. He finished his schooling in pblic school and then state paid for his trade school to learn computers. Today he is 27 years old and working as a trouble shooter to help folks with computer issues that call into that company for help. He has been with the company for 5 years now. He makes good money, has his own apartment and drives a nice late model car and has not lost his temper at all. There is help out there for these kids but they need family members to take the bull by the horns and speak out asking for alternatives to what they are doing at that time. Problem is most parents that have a problem child don't seem to have time for them..........JMHO

  40. This is how I was able to give up cigarettes. I know most of you knew I lost my Kasey in October and I set out to find a new best friend as I have had a dog in my life since age 6. Well I checked out every Dog Rescue Center in my area I thought but there was one very little know to many folks Called "Friends of Hannah" that some one mentioned to me. It was close to my home so I went out to see what they had. I have no idea how this place is not better known as they have about 6 acres of Kennels with about 2 acres under roof and all the dogs can go out and in through Doggy Doors. Well anyway they took me through the kennels and they have probably 150 dogs all barking and excited so I ask one of the young ladies operating the kennel if there was some place where Icould see the dogs one on one and she took me to a room and her and two other girls began bring me dogs 1 at a time and they had brought about 8 ot 10 of what they thought I might be looking for and I visited with each of them but there was no connections between them and I. As I was about to give up one of the girls ask the other about bringing Darby out. She was living in a shell since her owners had given her up for adoption and was not outgoing like the rest but was very timid and shy and would make a good impression on most folks and they ahd about given up on adopting her but they gave it one more try and they brought her into the room for a visit. I could tell when I got to look into her eyes that she was the one but I didn't know if she was accepting my vibs like I was hers. It took about three snacks of Beef Jerky to get her to begin warming up to me and the girls were all watching behind some glass. As Darby began to warm up to me her ears stood up for the first time and he tail was wagging since the first time since she had been there. One of the girls behind the glass began crying and soon 2 of them. I had got out of the chair and down on the floor to her level. It was about 20 minutes before Darby climbed up in my lap and licked my face as I petted her. By then all 3 girls were crying and laughing at the same time. One of them came in the room and I asked them if they had a leash and collar for her and she said yes and I said well you better fetch it cause she is going home with me. And all the girls got so exited. As they were going to get the papers done and her hardware one of the girls told me that the on site vet had told the girls that week earlier that if she did not adopt in a week she would be put down. I was not aware of the fact that Friends of Hannahs is like the last resort dog rescue location and dogs are sent there from other rescue centers after 90 days at their facilities with no prospects of adoption. She had been through 3 facilities prior to the one I go her from. I got her on Wednesday and she was scheduled to be put town on Friday. Once she was in the back seat of my Jeep a totally new Darby showed up and she was happy and excited to be going for a ride. Once home I didn't have to Darby I first met but a new and exciting Darby. Now to the smoking part! I sit at my computer every morning like I am right now and she laid on her bed as she is right now. About 3 days after she came home with me every time I would open up a box to get a smoke out I would feel her head on my leg and I would look into her eyes and pet her and then turn to continue to get ready to light up and when I put the smoke in my mouth her front paws were now on my leg and she was staring me right in the eyes. As I reached for my lighter she would put her paw on my arm. So I thought I would try something and took the smoke out of my mouth and put it back in the pack and told her I would not smoke it and she got down and went back on her bed. The same thing happened all morning every time I would try to light up anytime all day I would try and light up she was up in my face putting me on a guilt trip. About the last 2 weeks prior to my heart attack When I got her I was a pack a day guy and within about 5 days before my heart attack in had lost interest in smoking and I think I might have smoked 2 in those last few days and was outside standing up but she was beside me looking up at me. So now I am back home and don't even want a smoke and my few friends that do smoke do't smoke while they are visiting or they step outside. They is my no smoking partner.

  41. There is always one! I tend to agree even though I am pretty agnostic I believe it is a personal decision and prayer in school and Pledge of Allegiance was a good thing. I still think a paddle on the arse is a good thing though. As a society we have to stop coddling the kids and giving everyone's a winner participation trophies. However none of that will make these families effected the other day feel any better!

I told the doctor I did "NOT" want to be in the hospital on my birthday so he cut me some slack and got me home 1 day early. Still weak and experiencing some aches and pains but I think the worst of it is behind me. I will tell ya'll about my quitting smoking and about the complications doctors had to deal with tomorrow after I get a good nights sleep and hope I get to rest some. Bersaguy

  43. But why risk it. If you are arrested I can guarantee you will be out thousands of dollars in legal fees, even if it goes in your favor. Anyone going in front of a judge without a lawyer standing next to them will likely have a very bad day. I know I wouldn't go in front of a judge for anything without having an attorney present, especially if I was accused of breaking a law. Even if you are in the clear your arrest will always show up in a background unless you pay thousands to have it expunged. Another thing, any cop that shows up will not let you try to convince them the sign is wrong if they believe you have broken the law. Most cops will not know what the correct language of the sign so to them you will have violated the law by walking past the sign. Now a lot of cops will probably just tell you to leave but all it takes is one and you will be hauled away in handcuff, starting your long expensive process of proving the sign was wrong and that you were in the right for carrying past a sign whose intent is quite clear. To a jury of 12 you will be painted as a renegade gun owner who willingly violated the intent of the law despite being in compliance with the letter of the law. Best case scenario you will be out thousands, worst case you will be out your freedom and when you get out of jail you will not be the same person as when you went in. My freedom is not worth the risk of walking past any posting and my money is more valuable than to give it to someone who doesn't allow me to protect myself.

  48. jmecklen, The wide FL allows the use of cover as we did under the old rules, and also the way most of us have been trained to do using standoff from cover. Using movement around the cover to expose each target, the wide FL will let the shooter arrive where we would have under the old rules to engage the last target. In this regard the wide FL is sort of a limit of advance around the cover. And Yes...., based on the statement from the link it also appears that the Gamers can rush full-speed directly to the wide FL fully exposed to all targets and engage each target as they would have appeared if they where actually using cover. Yet, I think the wide FL is necessary. Based on some the tight FLs that I have been seeing at local matches - - - nearly 90 degrees from the edge of the cover - - - there is little to no way to correctly employ standoff from the cover, it forces the shooter to crowd cover leaving little or no room for actual movement.
    1 point
  49. PC7, thanks for the info. Good resource. In reference to DMarks Fault line discussion, I still find the new ruling about as clear as mud. So you have the option to use cover as we did in the old rules or go to a "wide" FL at that POC and be exposed to multiple targets?
    1 point
  50. PC7, thanks for the link. A lot of MDs are putting their Fault Lines in too tight using the first target presented as their base for cover. This results in folks crowding cover and worst hooking their weapons around corners to shoot the additional targets. When the idea of FLs was first brought up in IDPA a few tears ago, the idea was that there would have to be a FL for each target as it would appear as you sliced the pie. It didn't take long for everyone to realize that this would be unmanageable, some points of cover would have 3-4 FLs! IMHO, the last target that will be presented from the point of cover is the one that decides where the FL goes and it seems that is what the ruling you linked to is saying with the statement, "A wide fault line does not mean a shooter cannot use cover and pie around a barrier or wall."
