No, I get it, don't agree with it, but I know it's law. It may be just clearing it up, but they only did it with marijuana...nothing to clear up the fact that just because a Dr. prescribed an opiate, it's still illegal to buy and own guns while hooked on the stuff. I think the Fed's are just trying to protect the $$$ being made on the "war" on drugs.2 points

I saw that you have a thread on SN about it, I’ll leave my feedback there. Its already off to a much better start than Hard2Kill ever got to. I think SN is broad enough and appealing to a large enough demographic that it will do well. Better branding and mission statement as well.1 point

Howdy, I lived in Smyrna for a couple of years as a kid and moved to Ohio. It's been a long time but we are coming back. I am relocating to Gallatin later this year with my family from Bakersfield. For those unaware Bakersfield is in the heartland of the "forgotten" California. We are very conservative, believe in freedoms, and personal responsibility. I've been in this looney bin since 1987 and finally have a chance to get out. I look forward to my new home and new acquaintances. I'm an avid shooter, mostly pistol and wing, with occasional long range rifle. I love to 'smith a little on my own. I spent 8 years active duty Marine. Thanks for the add, I look forward to be a contributor.1 point

Now that I've jumped in with both feet, I don't know whether to thank or curse TGO David. Yet another outlet for me to be useless and unproductive while I'm at work! Good thing I'm self employed as I can't have anyone yell at me or complain other than my customers. I will from now on send all customer complaints to TGO David!1 point

I don’t think they are singling it out; they are making it clear that they consider it to be a drug. Because many argue it is not. As I said above I think you will see the same happen with other drugs, and diagnosed conditions like PTSD or depression.1 point

I got to handle 2 different Security 9's today at two different gun shops. I am very surprised and like it way better than I thought. It is way more simpler in design than the Ruger American Pistol. Both shops had them for $329 . At that price I am excited and willing to wait a few months to see if recalls or problems will crop up. If none then I'll probably get one. This pistol , in my opinion will definitely be a hit if it performs reliably. The trigger reset was a bit long but for a $329 gun and a great customer service like Ruger has , its worth it . I did see the small rectangular hammer when I dry fired it. I don't like manual safeties but I could ignore the one on this gun. It will fire with no mag so that's a plus. I hope all turns out very reliably for it. I took a chance on the new Beretta APX last year and it turned out to be an extremely reliable and fun pistol. I sure hope this Security 9 ends up the same way. If so the in 2 months I may grab one.1 point

Pack and foget does you no good! Use it or lose it is a good way to look at it. Try to practice the skills you learn and rotate stock as well. Rotating is good but building even more is better. I must admit that I am way behind where I want to be due to building the house and BOL. Very little gardening I can do here but once we are on the mountain full timw my wife and I have the spot picked out, ready to go with a water system and will be planting like mad. Wife has been doing container gardening until we get moved up and has done great. Almost enough to get us through the year for the basics. I have been using the buckets from Firehouse Subs as they have a great sealing lid and I am a cheap SOB. At $2 each they are cheap enough for a lot of supplies. Rice, Beans, flour, salt, etc... Seal a bag, fit it into the bucket, fill it then vacumn seal it. Seal the bucket and it keeps a long long time. We used 3x5 index cards with holders hot glued to the buckets to label contents. Bottom line is use the skills or lose the skills! Practice now as later is too late.1 point

That's great Prag! I grew shell beans for the first time this year, dried them, stored, and used them a half-dozen times cooking various meals. It was a success! This year I plan on planting far more beans, drying and storing again. I may even try a few varieties. I also grew rice, but have run into a roadblock trying to de-hull it. No easy way short of investing in a mechanism, aka grain mill, and I just can't justify the $$$ yet. Would be better served putting up a couple cases of bullets, but I'd digress. It is however great to hear that 6-8 year old dehydrated produce worked will. I probably have some stuff in the back corner of the freezer that age as well! - K1 point

Oh yeah, no doubt. Didn't think to mention that. I think the cr123a is 350 lumens and the AA is 150.1 point

Maybe. My first point was that the Kel Tec has been doing what Sig wants to claim is 'unprecedented' for almost 25 years. Longer than the Taurus and certainly long before the P365 was even thought of. My second point was that, at least for me (and likely others), rather than being the 'sweet spot' for carry pistol size this size range of pistol compromises ease of shooting and practical accuracy without really being markedly easier to carry or conceal than slightly larger, easier to shoot pistols.1 point

It is truly an Austrian FNS-9. 19 slide, 17 rounds, ambi slide lock and mag release (oops, well not quite; missed it by that much), lanyard loop, no finger grooves...1 point

I get that it’s a military model, but on the civilian side, I think theyd be much better off going the other way with a 17 slide on a 19 frame.1 point

Speaking for me, I go for the 20ish ones because I get a standard handle, not any of the fancy ones with extended latches and such. I've tried some extended latch types and they don't do anything for me, and I'm not much for logos...at least at full price. Just make sure their made from the harder aluminum, 7075, and that the brand doesn't have bad reviews.1 point

Since I've already posted about this rifle on a couple of the collector forums I frequent I might as well add it here too. For those of you who are not "into" Finnish Mosin Nagants, the M28/30 was the last iteration of the pre-war Finnish Civil Guard's attempts to update and modernize their rifles. It's predecessor was the M28, which gained a reputation for very good accuracy, the M28/30 added to that reputation by it's use in the World Shooting Championships of 1937. Many of the features of the M28/30 were later incorporated into the M39 rifle which was adopted jointly by the Civil Guard and the Finnish army just before the "Winter War" between Finland and the USSR. Production of the M28/30 officially ended in 1940, but some rifles were built during later dates, primarily as the M28/57 and M28/76 marksmanship (or sniper if you prefer) rifles. It is commonly believed that the "late date" M28/30's were made for officer training in marksmanship in the period 1968-1970. Few examples are known today. This is my post from the other forums: " Picked this one up during the holidays, thought it would be a good Christmas present to myself. The rifle was advertised on one of the common listing sites of arms as a "1970 M39". The picture clearly showed it to be in an M28/30 stock although little else could be determined from it. Intrigued, I took the chance and bought it over the phone. The rifle turned out to be a 1970 M28/30, in a post-war (what else) stock. It has a 2-stage trigger, shimmed action, but no barrel sleeve as my other M28/30 does. The tang date shows the receiver to be a 1913 Izhevsk, with the normal mix of various manufacturers stamps on the remaining parts. I knew from other references these late date M28/30's existed, but this is the first one I've come across. Although most of my collecting interest is in WWII and earlier rifles, I like this one a lot."0 points
