I see little reason to require 500 rounds through a modern handgun before you feel comfortable carrying it. Run a few mags through it. If it works, carry it.3 points

Well, it was not my idea to go to Dollywood but my wife wanted to go and I had a surprise planned for her and I was kind of making it her weekend to pick the places we went and I just agreed so we went. The plan I had was a dream come true for her and after doing Dollywood on Friday we just walked through Gatlinburg looking at the stores and shops. A buddy of mine that owned Charlet in Gatlinburg had given me the keys to it for the entire weekend. On Satuday morning she woke up to breakfast in bed and under her napkin was two tickets to the opening game of Tennessee season that year. I was standing just out side the bedroom door when she found them and I would guess about everyone on that mountain top heard her screams when she found the tickets. She was a rabid Tennesse fan and our house looked like a concession stand at a Tennessee game. At Dollywood she was decked out in orange and white tennessee clothes. The guy that owned the Charlet had season tickets every year in box seating as he is an alumni of Tennessee University and he let me use his tickets. I'm sure glad I took her cause it was probably the best thing I could have done to fill her dreams cause I lost her in October 97.2 points

Literally got nothing this year. I told all of my family not to get me anything because I was spending all their gift money on toys for the children's hospital.. And that I did. Bought more this year for them than any other year. Hope it helped some of the families out.2 points

Hi, I just jointed TGO and recently moved to the Nashville area. I grew up in Australia and grew up around guns (well riffles anyway) my uncle had a sheep ranch that was a 25,000 acres that we would hunt and shoot on. I grew up with a Ruger 10/22 and an Australian made Lithgow Lee Enfield 303. In 1996 the government confiscated my Ruger due to the fact it was semi auto and then my uncle sold his ranch in 2001 and my dad sold the Enfield. So thats where my shooting/Hunting hobby stopped.........that is until I moved to Washington State in 2006, one of the first things I did was got out and buy an new 10/22! I was so happy to be shooting again! Seattle has become so dang expensive to live for the average Joe that we had to move, which is a shame cause Washington is one of the best places to live if you love the outdoors! and my wife's home state. So we decided on Nashville, we have a few friends here from Wa state and they absolutely love living here so we packed up and moved......In the short time Iv been here in already know Iv found my home and this is where I want to stay! Firearms I now own are - Ruger 10/22 (of course) Smith & Wesson M&P Sport 2 Remington 870 12 G Glock 19 Ruger Mark IV .22 Target pistol Smith & Wesson Model 10 .38 special Not a big collection by American standards but one that makes Australian shooters mouths water I love to hunt, but never had to do it on public land, which is what Ill have to do here in Tennessee next season. Not really sure how to go about that at all. I have, however received some great hints and tips from a few TGO members already which is fantastic! I was studying up on Cheatham WMA as its only 20 minutes from home, but I have heard a lot of negative things about hunting that area, one big draw back is that is buck only! In Australia I had my uncles ranch that we could basically do what we wanted with in regards to hunting. Some if the best hunting we did was at night with a giant spot light picking of rabbits, foxes and Kangaroos all night from the back of a pick up! And in Washington a friend of a friend had land out on the Olympic peninsula an area covered in rain forest, deer and HUGE Roosevelt Elk! So any tips or advice for hunting on public land in Tennessee would be greatly appreciated! Or if anyone had some land and wants to invite a random Aussie to come hunt that would be amazing haha I wont hold my breath though! Anyway thats a little about myself, Cheers everyone. Hope everyone had a great Christmas and has a happy New Year! Chris.1 point

Apparently, this ad for the Kel-Tec RDB Survival rifle was in a recent edition of NRA's Shooting Illustrated.1 point

"I told my wife".... I understand. .......and my wife would take up the offer... and it ain't worth the hassle. I'm old enough that I very much like serenity over drama and legal fees. So, I reckon it's easier to grumble about Dollyweed once a year or so, and maybe play cat & mouse with them when able.1 point

Keith Warner in Memphis is my 'smith of choice. He has done (is doing) some work for me on my Single Actions, both Ruger and Colt. He does excellent work, but don't be in a hurry for it! Bob Wright1 point

Most of the agencies surrounding me have seen the light and switched, except MINE! TBI has already made the switch as well. Admin here is still enamored with the 40. I have been trying to decide whether to buy myself another Beretta this year, or go to 45 like my youngest son is wanting to do, but if "Grock" keeps taking steps to clean up their act I might give them another try. That 17 ain't lookin too bad.1 point

And why is the guy covered in ice? Really you only drink your urine in the desert. And if you failed enough not to have water, you will probably not have a gun either.1 point

Just came here to post this and yes, it is ugly. Apparently, Ruger has yet to find a graphic designer or someone with some sense of aesthetics, but it is interesting. Has interchangeable mag wells for use with Ruger SR-style or Glock mags. Big, huge bonus right there. I also like the take-down capability.1 point

Animals in the bed at night is where I drew the line EARLY on. As far as my wife knows I have a .410 shotgun and a couple .22lr rifles. Hopefully she never pokes around too much.....0 points

If she finds the 308 or 6.5 Creedmoor I built to match it I won't even get the backyard. More like under the backyard.0 points
