  2. The gun market is going through a two pronged revolution... The minor part is the dip in sales with President Trump in power. That can end in as soon as three years, and will ebb and flow with power changes in Washington. Companies need to be ready to ride those out and think about investing the dividends from the good years to carry them through the bad. The major part that is here to stay is how consumers are getting pickier, and companies are having to rely on more than the multiple generations of brand name loyalty. Remington is finding themselves chasing the market (the RP9 makes that clear). Instead of leading where they have the expertise to redefine the industry standard, bolt action rifles and shotguns. I want Remington to survive and thrive in their third century, but they need to want to earn it.

  3. I've got one of those too, nothing special, no reason to show it off. My Dick is a compact, easier to conceal......

  4. Just got it from Reese at the Gun Crew in Hermitage. Been wanting one since I got my PMR-30 a few years ago. Couldnt bring myself to pay the exorbitant prices that were being charged every where until recently they came down, then Reese had it on sale to boot, so I couldnt resist.

  5. And as others have said, virtually all of the major gun manufacturers in the US are leveraged to the hilt, some due to expansion and modernization, some due to what amounts to rape of their investors and creditors by the hedge funds and holding companies that own them ( i.e. Colt, et al). As such, they are in no position to survive even a minor downturn in sales, as most if not all of their cash flow is directed at staving off bankruptcy due to their excessive debt load. Except for Ruger, which is now, as always, debt free with sufficient cash to ride out the current slump, we will probably see another round of bankruptcies and consolidations before any of these companies start turning any profits again ...

  8. Sorry, to answer your question...do you have a trigger kit in it or is it factory? I had the same issue with both of my glocks when they had lone wolfs and ghost trigger kits. I put the factory triggers back in them and they cycled fine after that. As long as it’s oiled up good.

  9. My experience is glocks do not suppress well. Ditched my g19 and got a HK VP9 and love it. Loved it so much I also bought a 45ct. I have the HD45 and love it. Thinking about getting the osprey next, as all my mounts will work with it too.

  12. I disagree that they still own the bolt action and shotgun market. There are certainly still a plethora of them in the field sure, but there are enough Remington competitors putting out the same quality or better at a similar or lower price point (and often with modernized features) that the Big Green is no longer the market leader and trend setter that it once was. As Dolomite mention, the aftermarket for the 700s is huge, as is the market for aftermarket 870 accessories, which is why you still see "Remington" mentioned in almost every add and advertisement. There are numerous established and upstart companies making models that are essentially improved copycats of the Remington design, which obviously speaks to the popularity and solid engineering it once had. I am a long time Big Green fan and my favorite rifle is a Rem 40x in .308, but I will be the first to say that I am disappointed in Remington for letting their creative juices stagnate. As for the relevance of DPMS and Bushmaster they are not Remington any more than Marlin and AAC are, they are siblings under the Freedom Group umbrella. While there are at times collaborative projects between the companies it is my understanding that they are managed as individual companies who's successes and failures do not really effect the others. One thing Freedom Group appears to have done somewhat successfully is get their claws into enough different subcultures of the gun market to somewhat counter effect a drop in any particular group. While they must certainly be feeling the effects of the post election buying slump that this year brought, the problems at Remington run deeper than that.

  13. I saw clear tracks coming in. Fresh because the leaves were still disturbed. Guessing they have gone nocturnal due to pressure.

  14. Looks like the Chevy lost, maybe because of the gun pointing at him

  15. None of the above. I don't like the angle of the grip in double stack Glocks. Plus, the grip is too wide for my hand. I'd go for the Sig P938 over the 43. Significantly smaller than the 43, large manual safety with a definitive click, better grip angle, and the removable grip can be replaced with wood or other designs to make a beautiful weapon.

  16. The RP9 is not selling because it is an ugly gun. I think most gun owners are just as worried about how a gun looks. The RP9, if you squint just a little bit, looks a lot like a Highpoint and we all know owning one is like riding a moped, it's cool until your friends see you.

  17. If they're releasing 80,000, what kind of price point can we expect. I'd like to see 3-4 million M1 carbines come home from Korea.

  18. Every family has crazy somewhere... But, I am truly thankful that it’s far enough removed from both sides of my wife’s and my immediate family that I can enjoy two Thanksgiving dinners without the crazy family drama that so many experience.

  20. I am thankful for the free gift of eternal life. My son received a call yesterday that his paternal grandmother passed away 30 minutes prior. I believe there was a party in Heaven yesterday. Praise to you Lord Jesus Christ, thank you for your example so that I may have a moral compass and the strength to be a small, encouraging beacon of light in the darkness.

  22. Well, unless another friend requests one, my season is done. Last evening, two minutes before my personal "do not shoot" time two doe walked into my field of view. They didn't present a shot and disappeared at the bottom of the hill toward my food plot. I waited to see if they'd appear for a few minutes, when they didn't, I set my rifle down thinking they laid down. Started packing to leave when they showed up at the opposite side of my food plot, I figured I had already engaged them so they were in play. I chose to take the older of the two and took a neck shot. It was at the exact same spot as the buck, but unlike the buck she had enough energy to go up and over the hill. At first I thought I missed, but when I went down I found a good blood trail and tracked her down. Man, you would think she weighed more than her 125 lbs trying to get her back up the hill, I played hell trying to get any traction and felt like she was stuck on something. Took what felt an hour to get to the top, and once there she decided to slide down the other side taking me along a couple times. The rest of my time will be used to make improvements to my stand and hunting area in general.

  24. My favorite range 9mm is the CZ-75 but it's too heavy for carry. I have two Sigs, the P-320 and P-238. The P-320 is waiting to be recalled so SIG is on my bad side right now. The Ruger LC9s has a sweet trigger but the mag release has given me trouble. I have one 9mm that doesn't stand out at all. It has a weird trigger, the sights are odd and it has a grip like a 2 x 4. It's the one I go to. I call it the Barvarian Brick others call it a Glock 19.
