  1. Dial back the rhetoric a notch or three and don't be so quick to judge. More than a few of us have met dolomite, heard the stories, and understand why he does what he does. You'll be hard pressed to find a more respected member of this community.

  2. You say you keep an AR in your truck for real problems. That tells me that you think a basic handgun is insufficient and would prefer to have an AR. Most folks on this forum would agree. If you could legally, conveniently, and discreetly carry your AR instead of the basic handgun you're acknowledging is insufficient for "real problems", wouldn't you? BTW, why the personal insults? I don't know if you're directing "mouth breather" at me or Dolo, but seeing as how you don't know either of us and Dolo's an American Hero with a capital H in my book, that seems more than a bit unnecessary.

  3. Nice try, but I don't believe for a second that humor was your initial intent. You may be used to other forums where it's common for members to give each other a hard time, drop f-bombs, and the like. We don't do that here. The idea is to keep this family friendly. Read the code of conduct. I'll reiterate my suggestion to dial back the rhetoric and agree that stopping here is a good idea.

  4. And the second you step out of your truck with that AR you have broken way more laws than me OCing my Draco. Hope that mouthbreather comment wasn’t directed at me.

  6. I would bet that Dolomite likely would draw less attention with this pistol AK if he wanted to than many of the people strapping a Glock .380 to their hip in OWB carry. For some people, "carry" means throwing a folding brace AK pistol in a tennis racket bag and then carrying that over your shoulder. Whether your location, job, etc places you in less than comfortable locations, perhaps "carry" means walking from the parking lot to your work business or from the parking lot to your apartment. Some people may have different life circumstances in which they are in more danger than others, pass through dangerous areas, etc. I don't see how we can jump on one another in telling those people they are wrong to do as they wish when it is legal. I doubt anyone is trying to stuff one of these in their coat, but seeing how Dolomite spent a lot of time on the battlefield, if anyone could do it, it'd be him;) I too do not understand such an alarmist response and the seemingly personal attack.

  9. Tried the challenge today with a brand new M&P 9 2.0 compact. Didn’t win but these were my first 20 rounds through the pistol. The challenge is aggravating but I’m going to keep it up.

  10. You need cash and a card. Some places won't take a card, and I've ran into a couple of situations where cash was not accepted.

  11. There are lots of ways to "carry" something like this. I can think of several courier bags, or sling bags that would be perfect. Would it be my choice for a primary carry weapon? That would depend on the situation and how much time I had to deploy it. Probably not a good candidate for IWB or pocket carry, just have to think outside of the box...

  12. I carry a 380 about every where I go but it has 15 rounds in it and I also have a back up mag for it. If Dolo wants to pack an AK then I have no problem with him doing just that what so ever!! Knowing somewhat of his background if I were in a place and all hell broke loose with bad guys he is definately one of the good guys I would hope was there to back me up!!!!!

  14. This from several years ago at the old Shelby County Rifle and Pistol range: We, the old hands there, often got there well before the 10:00 am opening time and exchanged stories, news, and man talk in general. One day a very pretty, young blond lady joined us. She was, well, noticeable, petite, blond, well shaped, make-up just so. And above all. personable. She had a little .45 ACP, a Springfield of some sort as I recall. Since we were not permitted to wear sidearms while on the range, she removed the pistol from a holster. She wore black fitted pants and black sweater with a Wrangler denim jacket. The jacket covered a small hip holster, and she very smoothly drew and cleared the pistol. As she did so, she remarked that was her shopping pistol. "Where do you shop?" asked one of the men. She smiled sweetly. "Anywhere I want to," was her reply. Bob Wright

  16. So I am somewhat of a gadget geek like many here and have been contemplating buying a 3D printer for a while. Yesterday I bit the bullet and ordered a Creality CR-10S as it comes with great reviews and fit the budget I was looking to stay in. I figured I would use it to make some things for shooting and general playing around, but ran across this youtube showing the creation of Lithophanes. This is incredible. I would have never dreamed you could do something like this. He is using the same machine I got by chance. Anyway, thought it was worth sharing. Watch until the end for the picture of the lion.

  18. Getting closer to the perfect carry package. Folded it is 19", open it is 29" with the muzzle being just over 26" so it is VFG safe. Sight radius is now 13" and the AR sight works very well with AK front sight. 4 piece comp works the best with this short barrel., very little concussion. Reworked, crisp 2.5 pound trigger.

  25. Same as several... I have kids so I rarely have more than $50 in cash on me. I use my cc most of the time, but will use cash for small stuff or at specific businesses. I only use my debit card at the ATM. Never use a debit card anywhere else. If it gets stolen, you have to deal with an empty or overdrawn bank account, and worse if you've got things like utilities or mortgage on auto-pay. If a credit card gets stolen, you just have charges to dispute and you haven't actually lost anything.

  28. Just because it's not what you'd choose to carry for you and yours doesn't mean it's not right for someone else. Different people have different situations, either because of locations, physical impairments, personal relationships, employment, or something else. If someone could legally carry a Howitzer in their pants, who am I to say whether that's a good plan for them or not? I know that if I ever have to use a firearm for self defense, I'd rather have Dolo's mini Draco with a 30 rd. mag than a 6+1 .380 LCP every single time. Personally, it's not reasonable for me to carry something like the mini Draco, so I stick with "normal" carry guns, as most of us do. But I like to think that we'd all rather have something far more substantial than our normal daily carry if the time ever comes where we need it. Apparently for Dolo, the mini Draco isn't unreasonably inconvenient to carry and I doubt he'd ever be left wishing he had more gun if he ever needs it. Maybe a 75 rd. drum, but not more gun.

  29. AIUI, there's no maximum length of what a handgun can be, either in federal or TN laws. With no VFG, it remains a handgun so Dolo could carry it with his HCP. Because it's OAL is >26", he can add a VFG if he wants without needing a $200 tax stamp and NFA paperwork. When a VFG is attached, it becomes a "firearm" by ATF terminology. I assume TN would use the ATF definitions and not consider it a handgun if it has a VFG, making it a no-go for carry. As long as there's no VFG, I think he's good to go, but I'm usually wrong and Oh Shoot will correct me shortly. I think that some states do have a length restriction on carry handguns. I've heard that South Carolina limits carry to <12" OAL and Oklahoma is <16" OAL, but I've not done research to know for sure.

  32. After being a cop I use to joke that I always carried bond money. But it really wasn’t completely a joke; I’ve seen too many people need it and not have it. Now I keep cash in case I run across a gun for sale; and can make the deal right on the spot. I also use a credit card for everything I can. Cash back. But I pay it off every month so I have no charges. No, the stores would just make that much more profit.

  36. Well, it was arson, and they suspected someone but could not develop enough evidence to prosecute. That's old information, however, because I choose not to patronize that establishment, (and I moved to Lascassas). I appreciate the treatment that I receive at Guns & More versus the treatment that I receive at that particular establishment.

  37. City, county, state, & federal law all get their chance to legislate small businesses right out of business. Toss in building codes and fire codes and handicapped access and you have a legal nightmare that has to be navigated. Build concrete bollards and the thuggies will steal a concrete truck. The guns may need to be put away at night. Cost of doing bidness and all that. How about we all go steer them some business his week to help them recover and put all these measures in place. I wanted to wait a bit but it is time for a rimfire can. I guess I need to start the process...

  39. I don't imagine it would have taken a whole lot to replace those glass windows with Lexan (or whatever today's equivalent is). It won't stop a determined thief, but would stop a smash n grab. Add in some steel or concrete bollards out front to prevent driving a stolen truck into the front door and you have some fairly low cost changes that contribute a LOT to security.

  40. I tend to agree. A gun store with no protection over the windows and everything on display is going to get broken into. It's not a question of "if" but of when.

  41. This is not a jab directed specifically at Guns and More but I am seriously coming to the point where I feel that any gun shop that doesn't secure their building from simple smash and grabs with draw-down security doors and other barricades are just as negligent as anyone who leaves a gun in their vehicle for it to be stolen. I can't believe that any insurance company will even write a policy for a gun shop that doesn't have adequate security in place to prevent quick break-ins like this.

  43. This weekend with the VP9. In case you want to try this event yourself, it's called Rastoff's Challenge, and it comes from a shooting instructor who hangs out at the S&W Forum. It's a 20-round exercise fired on a B-27 center. 4 shots at 3 yards 6 shots at 5 yards 6 shots at 7 yards 4 shots at 10 yards No time limit; take as much time as you want between shots, and for the entire string of 20 rounds. All shots must be inside the X-ring, i.e., no breaking the line. You must shoot the test cold (no warmups) and no more than once per day. It's not easy. I have probably shot it 20 times this year and this is my first passing score. Have fun, Whisper
