I always like to have a few bucks on me. Just doesn’t feel right with no cash on me.2 points

Sorry about the slow response, I'm usually on top of it better. My wife has had me doing little renovation jobs on our house ever since we stepped foot in the door and I have not had much time to peruse the interwebs. We wanted some acreage and we couldn't afford west coast prices for that acreage. My aunt moved to Franklin from Huntington Beach, CA and absolutely loves it. I took that as a good sign, so we started looking around at what we could afford and then flew out in February; we fell in love with Tennessee. I was back out in April and fell in love with Tennessee again; I heard it was going to get green, but that is an understatement. Hickman County reminds me of Southwestern Oklahoma, so that's comfortable for me. It's been funny watching my kids talk to people with thick southern drawls, they've never heard it before and it's entertaining.2 points

My daughter and I hit a local range several times a month. We always end the session with Battleship. Or as the targets are called Sink-a-Sub. I shoot the top with a G19. She shoots the bottom with her M&P 22 compact. She can hit any part of the bullseye, I have to hit red. She has been shooting handguns for about two months now. As I have posted before she is a well awarded rimfire/airrifle rifle shooter. This is at 5 yards. She demanded I amend this, as this was the first time I won. This from several years ago at the old Shelby County Rifle and Pistol range: We, the old hands there, often got there well before the 10:00 am opening time and exchanged stories, news, and man talk in general. One day a very pretty, young blond lady joined us. She was, well, noticeable, petite, blond, well shaped, make-up just so. And above all. personable. She had a little .45 ACP, a Springfield of some sort as I recall. Since we were not permitted to wear sidearms while on the range, she removed the pistol from a holster. She wore black fitted pants and black sweater with a Wrangler denim jacket. The jacket covered a small hip holster, and she very smoothly drew and cleared the pistol. As she did so, she remarked that was her shopping pistol. "Where do you shop?" asked one of the men. She smiled sweetly. "Anywhere I want to," was her reply. Bob Wright1 point

The x-ring is a 2x3 inch oval. Cut out a template and you can spray paint several of them on a single sheet of paper, paper plate, etc...1 point

I can relate to this. 20-something years of shooting the Glock 19/23 platform is really hard for me to unlearn despite how good other guns have felt in my hands. The M&P and the CZ P-07 come closest to feeling/pointing as naturally for me as the Glock does. I should have mine next week but you'll just have to trust me on the review. I doubt I'll be loaning it out, but you're always welcome to shoot it at the range with me sometime.1 point

I hate to see them go. They were my go to place for books and VHS tapes back in the day. Ragnar Benson books were some of my favorites as a young guy as well. Thanks for the head's up K. I just checked the link...They still have some great choices... Bob Kasper, Kelly McCann, Rex Applegate, W.E. Fairbairn...1 point

Swift and public executions of those guilty of firearm related crimes would negate this type of thing better than bars and alarms.1 point

On another note, obviously there is no sure fire way to protect everything, but am thoroughly impressed with the measures that royal range has in place. Not going to mention any specifics, but it seems like they are upgrading this or that on a regular basis that you would notice if you visit frequently.1 point

Sorry, to me it's just lazy. Buy a safe and lock them up at night. Too many? Buy another safe. We offer an emergency board up service through our company and we have 4 to 5 pawn shops a month that are broken into. The reason it doesn't make the news is because they lock their firearms up at night.1 point

I tend to agree. A gun store with no protection over the windows and everything on display is going to get broken into. It's not a question of "if" but of when.1 point

Not really related to this, or at least I hopes not, but here is some interesting history. I can honestly see it happening as it is being reported.1 point

I'm going to do things a bit differently this year: there will be no "blind" stages with the exception of the cave (you'll see!). I'll post every detail of every stage BEFORE registration opens you can not only know what you're getting into and decide if you want to come, but also know what to practice. The entire point of this kind of match is to develop a bunch of skilled marksmen in great physical shape - and if posting a detail of the COF inspires you to train in a new way, then GREAT! So here's Stage 1: Grenade!!! The competitor will throw a dummy grenade into a “campfire” (empty tire) around which 3 enemies have gathered, then duck fully behind cover to guard against shrapnel from the grenade. On the buzzer, the RO will call “CLEAR” if the grenade stayed in the tire, and you can consider those 3 targets neutralized and move on. If the RO calls “ENGAGE” the grenade did not remain in the tire and you must put three rifle hits on each target to neutralize. Move to next shooting position and hit 3 targets on the 50 yd rifle plate rack around the left side of the barricade. Move to the next shooting position and hit 3 targets on the 50 yd rifle plate rack around the right side of the barricade. Move to the final shooting position and make three rifle hits each on three targets. Fault lines are set back from edge of barricade to give an advantage to people who can shoot from either shoulder, but close enough that people CAN shoot from the “wrong” shoulder and just be super awkward/contorted. Each side of the barricade and 3 targets on the plate rack will be painted the same color to make it clear which gets shot from where. 10 second FTN penalty if you shoot the wrong targets from the wrong position, or for failing to get 3 hits on a paper target. Paper targets may be moving.1 point
