  1. You know what the difference is between a Hippo and a Zippo? One is a kinda heavy and the other is a little lighter...

  2. Me thinks someone saw the light The NFL is quietly changing its policy to require players to stand for the national anthem following nationwide backlash. The league reportedly added the new rules to its game manual, which will punish players who refuse to stand. The penalties include fines, suspensions, and forfeiting of draft choices. It’s unclear when the rules were updated. This comes after President Trump called for the removal of tax breaks for the NFL if players continue their disrespectful protests. http://www.oann.com/nfl-revises-national-anthem-policy/

  3. Maybe not news to some but I just discovered after all this time of using the Invision interface here, that you can simply paste in any direct link to an off site image. No need to use the "insert other media" interface, saves ya a step. - OS

  5. A nice attempt to placate those lost fans and the American people at large. But like RED333, I have given my last dollar to the NFL thru tickets and memorabilia. Whether I will watch any games isn't much for me to mention. I only watched the Titans games anyway, and that has left me a bit dissatisfied with their actions. The whole affair has simply made public more aware of just how ridiculous the NFL has become. NOT to mention how greedy over the last decade or so. Escalating ticket prices, psl prices just plain robbery, and the tax breaks given to owners; all the while asking cities to build stadiums with public money so the owners can just sit back and rake in more and more. I'm just disgusted with the whole bunch.

  6. And it has been mentioned and covered time after time, but I question the sanity of anyone who ever questioned how he got 400lbs up to the room. Even if you pretend that bellhops don't exist, how much is 400lbs? Sure, he was a slightly older feller so maybe he wasn't as strong as ever, but even if he had to he could have carried 50lbs in a shoulder bag 8 times. In a large hotel, that would draw exactly zero attention. But like others have said, with bellhops and room/service carts, he probably never had to carry the first heavy bag up to the room unless he wanted to. And even if, by the slimmest of chances and I don't believe it did or would have happened, hotel staff of any kind discovered the contents of any of the bags, do you know what would have happened? Probably nothing. All he had to do was state that he was in town for some sort of shoot/training and didn't want to keep the contents in his car in concern of theft. Hotels/casinos don't exactly have a history of pushing away people that have and spend money like it is nothing.

  7. Here's my half-baked thought on what is happening here. Remember, the NRA was in favor of zero tolerance gun laws and gun free zones and all that jazz after Columbine and supported the 1994 AWB. I think that they're making a play to deflect from themselves and Republican lawmakers they support when it all goes south in a couple years. What I mean by that is by asking the ATF to "review" bumpfire stocks it takes the blame off them if the ATF decides to do something with them. However they're banking on the ATF not doing anything under Republican control due to the political fallout at the time. When the government swings Democrat again though, the ATF won't have an issue going after bumpfire/similar and whatever else they arbitrarily decide they don't like because there won't be the same fallout. At this point the NRA can come in screaming about how rights are being infringed and that we need to stand and do something to protect them I.E. donate to the NRA and convince more people to join. Never mind that at some point in years past they gave the .gov the keys to do this. In other words they're creating a monster to fight so they keep making money and stay relevant. After all, they're a business, they exist to make money and that's truly what they care about.

  8. As Dave says, the biggest thing national reciprocity would achieve would be to take the right to create carry laws from the states and hand them to the feds. Even worse, it would open the door for Kalifornistan style regulations to be put into place in all states. Many proponents like to point at drivers' licenses and an example of how carry permits ought to work. Those folks don't seem to consider than many of the regulations that apply to automobiles, emissions, etc. that begin on the left coast are often used as models for federal regulation. Why, then, do people believe that firearms related rules would be any different? https://green.blogs.nytimes.com/2009/06/30/epa-allows-california-emissions-rules/ It is no stretch to imagine the fed - especially under an anti-gun administration - deciding, "Anyone with a valid carry permit issued by any state can legally carry in any state that has a procedure by which a private citizen can legally carry a firearm. However, in the interest of uniformity the list of 'California legal' firearms will be applied to all privately carried firearms in the country. Henceforth, only firearms on that list will be legal for sale to private individuals and any firearm that does not meet the criteria to be on this list will henceforth be illegal to carry by a private citizen." That isn't even considering the likelihood that the fed will likely decide that, since a legal permit holder will be allowed to carry in any state, the rules, regulations and requirements for carry should match up to those of the most stringent state so that state isn't being 'forced' to allow those with 'less training' or who have been 'less thoroughly vetted' to carry in their state. National reciprocity is not a boon to gun owners/legal carriers and it certainly isn't worth trading away other rights in order to achieve it.

  9. Working on fixing up my JM Marlin 336 and would like to see some pics of others classics. I got this one from my grandpa which he got second hand. It will be staying in the family from here on out. No plans to refinish. Just added a sling kit and have a skinner dovetail aperture sight ordered. I was looking at the receiver version of their sight but liked the aesthetics of the dovetail better. Custom leather sling by Rick Garcia. It is a 1976 mode that has seen its fair share of use and taken plenty of deer. Still smooth as silk though. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  11. I have a worn down to almost nothing 110 that was my grandfather's, and one my dad carried as a work knife. I just might have to have one and complete the trilogy for me.

  12. Reading up some, I see where some of the conversions didn't hold up well. Something about how the pin/latch were just anchored into the grips or whatever. Apparently, any of the ones that you'd just press the button again to close were suspect over time. Buck has apparently done this one well, as you still need to press the lock back release to close it, not just use the button. In other words it remains the same solid lockback model it always has been. Makes sense they'd have to be pretty confident with how they've done it, what with forever warranty and all. - OS

  13. My wife would rather watch the college games as well. Like me, Titans were all the pro teams she followed. They can move on to McDonalds when all that big paycheck runs out.

  14. Amazon.com Some good prices on all things "Zippos". I don't know exactly why, but I've always had a fondness for various methods for starting fires.

  15. Not the greatest pic. This is a 1952 or 53 Marlin 336 in .35. It was in really rough condition when I picked it up for my son. The fore stock was not even for the gun and had been hot glued to the tube. The rear stock had been stained plum and scratched up, then the whole thing had been coated in varnish. I made a 10 year old boy happy by making it look ( in my opinion) better.

  16. Yep. Even if they don't directly dictate it, they can coerce the states to setup carry the way the Fed wants it done. .Gov: "What's that Tennessee? You're not going to require annual re-certification with a minimum of 40 hours of training time per year like we asked? OK....how about we withhold $200 million from your Medicare (or roads, or education, or whatever) funding? Oh ... what's that? You DO want to comply with that request? That's a good little boy. Now run along and play in the street some more." That's exactly how we get fairly uniform seat belt and Interstate highway speed limit laws across all 50 states. This wouldn't be any different. I don't want F-Troop anywhere near this.

  17. I watch sports for entertainment and to escape the craziness of life. Once they wanted to make statements I was out. That's more of the same crap everyday. I support anyone's right to protest. I have the right to choose what I will put up with for entertainment.

  18. If I'm not mistaken, this has been policy since it started but never enforced. As to enforcement, we will see, as for me, I'm out this year. I may return next year depending on how it goes from now on. I enjoyed watching, not going to lie, but enough is enough and it's nothing I can't do without.

  19. That is too bad for ya'll... Last night's Bears/Vikings game was outstanding. The Bears started their new rookie quarterback, it it appears they have someone with some serious potential. And during the game, I saw the greatest two point conversion I've ever seen. Good stuff. As veteran, I support peaceful protest of something that really is an issue. And I have a hard time understanding why everyone has their panties in bunch over this. (Although I am sure someone will tell me...again)

  23. Not smarter, at all. Just more suspicious . If the fedgov can wriggle its way into something that is a state's issue then the fedgov will, eventually, find a way to use that usurped authority to enforce more unneeded regulation.

  24. You would need a lot of money that you would probably lose. You would need a SCOTUS ruling that everyone can strap on a gun (permit or not) and the state can’t do anything. Although not a ruling yet, the SCOTUS has indicated they believe states have the right to have reasonable restrictions on "Carry" in place. The SCOTUS just refuses to hear the cases. At that point you have to abide by whatever Federal District ruling is in place where you are. Buying a privilege from a state should never give a person any kind of Constitutional protection that all other citizens don't have.

  25. I guess I'd prefer someplace like Flying Saucer on Germantown Pkwy. The 11th is probably doable for me, but you have to leave those cowbells at home. [emoji6] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  26. I had the hand warmer once. It was pretty nice but I never really used it much. I was just about to get the "Candle Lighter" but then saw that it runs on butane. I thought it would be great to have a lighter like that filled with typical lighter fluid.

  27. The way a lot of the cops dress and equip themselves these days it is surprising more friendly fire is not an issue. I have seen lots that look like they could be bad guys at times.

  29. That looks in pretty good shape other than the furniture issues. I think $100 would be a very good price, but any price up to $200 would still be fair. Good luck with the purchase...Enfields are addictive...you can't have just one. [emoji6][emoji106] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
